Default Does anyone remember this face?

I am pretty sure she is a former SCS member. She passed away this morning from cancer. If you can remember her please let me know. It is driving me nuts trying to figure out her SCS name. Thanks!

I remember reading her blog several months ago. Someone on here linked to it.

She and her husband did an amazing thing capturing the ups and downs as they dealt with her cancer and sharing their pain and joys along the way. I am so sad that she is gone, but as her husband requested in his last entry... "do not be sad for Marisa, she doesn't have cancer anymore."

Such courage is inspiring.

As a breast cancer survivor, this really touches my heart. My girls were 4 and 6 when I was diagnosed. We also lost a friend to this horrible disease last October. How terribly sad.

I just saw this and clicked on the link for her blog. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

The brave faith this young mom had is such an inspiration.

My heart and prayers go out to her family and friends. Even though this is very tough for them they seem to understand that Marisa is in a better place, where her suffering is gone and she can rejoice with the Lord.

So sad and wanted to say I am so sorry to her family. She is free now to fly without pain and suffering. An angel among us.

Just spent 30 min. reading her blog. Have tears in my eyes and such respect for the amazing way she and her husband dealt with this trial.

She's free of her pain now and with God. My heart aches not for her, but for the loved ones she left behind.

Thanks for posting this--I needed it.

Wow. What a shock. I knew her. I went to university with her and her husband. We were in some classes together. Didn't expect that. I pray that God will give Mendelt and his family the peace and strength that passes all understanding.

I went back and read their entire blog--it is truly amazing.

They had a link to another gal's blog, and she wrote the following "Letter to Cancer" in memory of Marisa:

Dear Cancer,

You must have been shocked by her tenacity. She was a much fiercer competitor than you imagined, wasn’t she? Perhaps, you are smug today as you anticipate the end you have labored so tirelessly to bring about. Oh, foolish, foolish Cancer…you don’t really think you’ve won do you?

This is not the end. It never is for the child of God.

As a matter of fact, I don’t see how you have won anything at all. You strove to weave together for them sleepless nights, anxious minds, and troubled hearts…

But the Comforter was always, always near.

You thought you might coax them into turning on the Creator of All. Perhaps if your vengence was vicious enough, brutal enough, they would bend, break, and turn away from Him.

But they glorified Him until the end.

You must have envisioned the finish line as you rampaged throughout every cell and at last took up residence in her pure, sweet heart.

But Cancer, you forgot something.

Foolish, foolish Cancer, has the sound of the Babe in the manger’s cry already faded from your ears? You plotted death, Cancer but when He took His first breath He breathed life for all of us.

Foolish Cancer, it is not the end. It is the beginning! Soon, she will breath strong and free and in the blink of an eye we will all be there with her, because a thousand years here is only but a day in that Eternal Place.

Foolish, foolish Cancer…

You have won nothing at all.

Amazing words from her husband. Takes my breath away.

I don’t deserve this…

November 22, 2007

It’s almost been a year.
I don’t deserve this.
I have watched Marisa find the courage for each and every bad result.
I don’t deserve this.
I have held Marisa while she holds on to Christ and gives cancer the old familiar suggestion.
I don’t deserve this.
I have seen cancer bend Marisa. Yet she refuses to break.
I don’t deserve this.
I have seen and felt Marisa take her last ounce of energy for the day and use it for others.
I don’t deserve this.
I have seen Marisa live the definition of selflessness.
I don’t deserve this.
I am living with someone so Christlike that I don’t deserve it.

I am just in tears after reading their blog. I didnt know her, but this really broke me down. I stressed all day about stupid stuff, feeling like my life is just too hard. and look at the strength their family has had through trials that I can't even imagine. I wish my husband was home from work right now so that I could just hold him, and I wish my babies were awake so I could love them... I feel so thankful to God right now for what I have. their family is in my thoughts and prayers... I feel so bad for those two children... and I am so sad that she won't be there to raise them...
