just plain ol' double sided tape to put their layers together on cards??? I have done it at some stamp camps I have been to. I used to use tacky glue:( thats not so good. Then I jumped into using Mono mutli, a litle expensive for me. I seem to blow through it fast. Now I'm reading about mono multi glue, but if you use it say on the corners, does it leave a hard spot? So I was thinking, how bad could the tape be. Anybody have any good, bad or ugly experiences they wish to share with the tape?

I like DS tape....but I tend to have a bad time cutting it the right length and then getting it stuck in the right place....so I avoid it if possible.
I use the mono multi glue and it is my FAVORITE adhesive ever. I'm concerned because I have one full bottle and a half of another bottle....it lasts forever though....I just feel that I need more!
I have used DS tape with very good results. I use that or the sticky dots. I have used that mono tape runner and found that things didn't stick well for me, plus it makes a gooey mess after a few refills.
I used to use double sided tape. It worked for me, but I hated having to cut and stick it on. I recently got an ATG 714 tape gun. Love it. Much faster to use and great hold. The gun is a little pricey but the refill tapes are dirt cheap. If you by from framingsupplies.com, the have great prices on the gun.
I use the Scotch double sided tape! Works for me. As another poster said, the mono tape runner (which I used to use all the time) doesn't seem to last. I've had some people tell me that layers have come off after a while. But, not so with the DS tape. And, if you get it in bulk at the office supply store, it's not too expensive. WARNING! The DS tape at the Dollar Tree or other $ stores doesn't hold.....at least that's been my experience. HTH
I much prefer DS tape. I don't like the duck runner or mono adhesive, it doesn't seem to stick as well. I've gotten cards in the mail from people who use it and stuff has come unstuck!
My mom uses Alene's tacky glue, it's really cheap at walmart and she just flies thru the stuff.
But......I'll be totally faithful to my Scotch DS tape!! I just put a small square in the corners. It even holds ribbon! I also use mini glue dots for heavier stuff.
Happy Stamping!
The Scotch brand ds tape works well...I decided to go cheap one time and used the duck brand ds tape once and all my christmas cards fell apart (luckily I caught on before they were mailed and was able to fix the problem). So...the moral of my story is to not skimp ~ it's worth the extra cost for the good stuff.
I actually use the duck permanent tape runner now and don't have a problem... I switched from the ds tape as it is just more convenient to use.
I use ds tape and a tape runner. I love the ease of the tape runner, but the double sided tape is fine too. I buy scotch or duck brand. I do reach for the tape runner most though, but they run out quickly! It is also good to have extra ds tape on hand.
I use both the Scotch DS tape which you really get at a good price at Sams! I think it is six good size rolls for $8.44 or close to that. I remove it from the plastic dispenser and put it into my table model dispenser.
I also use Aleanes Light Bond glue. It cost around $2.00. It leaves no lumps and really holds well. It is by the other glue at Michaels and Meijer Thrifty Aces. It is in a Blue and White Bottle and lasts a really long time.
It's the only thing I use! I like it better than anything I've tried. Now granted I do use pop dots for dimension, glue dots for embellishments, but paper to paper I only use double sided tape.

I also use the ATG 714. It is soooo worth the money. Easy to use and sticks like a dream! It certainly pays for itself in the long run. Never liked the liquid glue option...hard spots, messy, etc. I do use SU's glue dots for bulkier pieces or embellishments and sticky strip for adhering paper & ribbon to 3D objects.
I almost always use doublesided tape from Walmart. I buy the refills and have two dispensers that I bought there. That way I can almost always find one quick in all my stamping mess. The cheap stuff definitely doesn't hold as well. I usually put small pieces on my cardstock, which makes it easier to peel off and reposition pieces before it gets really stuck together. Just a bit on each corner and one in the middle of each large layer you do works great. I haven't had a card come apart on me adhered with tape yet.
I use to use Scotch double sided tape but it got kind of expensive. I switched to Target or Walmart brand which is same thing and then i found the ATG gun and would never go back. I am completely addicted i love my gun... :-)
I've been using the red ds tape and love how it holds. I save the backing sheets from peel-off labels (or you could use the peel off sheet from a xyron or any other paper that won't have a permanent bond) and put lengths of the red tape on that and then cut what I need through the tape and paper still leaving part of the paper uncut. You can precut all the tape that you'll need for each project that way and package it up with the materials for a class. I do use the teflon scissors to cut and tweezers are a godsend for removing it from the backing. I know it's expensive but those weekly Mike's coupons help keep my supply up.
I guess I just love the convenience of the Monoadhesive dispenser, so that's what I use most for layering. I've never had a bad Mono batch (as some have reported), and I only put a bit in each corner and the center of the panel before layering. But, then, nobody's ever told me if my creations are falling apart when they receive them.
For layers that are resistant, I use Mini Glue Dots by Glue Dots International.
I did get some Zip Dry Paper Glue, however, that I'm gonna try out--I've heard it works fabulous and doesn't warp the paper, etc. They swore by it!

Double stick tape is my adhesive of choice for paper. I've been stamping 13 years and have always used and loved it! It's pricier than other options; but IMO works better. I've received swap cards that actaully fall apart and used other adhesives (especially SNAIL).

I use the DS tape for heavy layers. I get it at Walmart because there's is the cheapest. I have the weighted dispenser. I use the SU SNAIL for lighter layers.
Me! Me! I use Scotch DS tape! It's so much cheaper and I can get a big pack at Sam's to split with my friends.

I made it! Dec 2006-July 2007!
My nonstamping, weight-loss blog sort of.
I'm like pryor208 - 'cept I have 3 table dispensers that seem to walk away all the time - that was the reason I gave my DH for getting the 3rd one - for the family. Even at Walmart tho - the prices are pretty high considering how much I'm using.
As a result, I jumped the bandwagon for mono dispenser and multi with the group purchases but started having problems with the dispenser right away. Since Julie doesn't have the problem, it could be this left-handed user, but it always seems that half way thru the roll just a tad of the adhesive doesn't stick and remains on the roll and shortly after - is a mess. Love the mono multi when I'm not matting - he dries too quickly for me.
I must say tho - that many beautiful cards I've received have come apart from gals I know use the mono dispenser; if not in transit in about a week or two on my bookcase. A part of it could be the heat and humidty here.
Find myself going back to 3M DS now and that SU liquid glue. There's also a HEIKO brand that's 1/8" x 30m ($3) that a DS tape with the peel off; great as well.
Double sided tape is the only thing that I use for my layers. I use glue dots for some stuff, mono for other, and a little glue, but mainly it's double sided scotch tape. I love the stuff!!!

I use on my regular card Scotch Brand Double Stick tape.
When I'm doing a Workshop or funshop I use Mono Multi Glue. Just a litte bit goes a long ways

Double sided tape is all I use too, especially since it is relatively cheap (AUD$2.50). I buy the Francheville brand which has a tear off metal bit on the cardboard pack which encloses the roll, so I don't need to use scissors. Any glue I've tried either warps the paper or card or doesn't stick for long.
I never used the Scott DS tape before but my sister put 3 rolls in my Christmas stocking - LOVE it! Bonds and holds better than the glue runners I was getting at Walmart. Loved the tip about putting the rolls of tape in the table top dispensers. Thanks. I've also had good luck with glue dots and Aleene's 2 in 1 glue.
Always use double sided tape. I stock up on refill rolls and use a tabletop dispenser. (And I buy it through ebates so I get money back in my account too!)
I only use Scotch double sided tape. The cards we make at my demontrators work shops using mono adhesive always fall apart after awhile. The scotch double stick tape cards never do.
All the time! It's less money, and I can save my more expensive acid-free adhesives for my scrapbooking. (Although the Scotch DS tape is photo safe, I'm not sure if that's acid-free as well. With cards I'm not as concerned.) I've tried the ATG gun, but it's too big and cumbersome for me. Does anyone know if that's acid-free?
Scotch DS tape is our choice. In fact my DD bought a big dispenser that will hold two rolls at a time, is VERY heavy and stays put. These are the large rolls with a big hole in the center which we order from office supply store.

I use DS tape sometimes. But found Scrapbook Adhesives, E-Z- Runner snail tape. It is FANTASTIC for holding c/s layer together. Unforuntately, the only thing that is a drawback is it does not come with refills. But it is lovely to work with. My demo got me hooked on it.
