Do you think that SU looks at SCS to see what's popular??
I've wondered this for a long time... Do you think they're checking out this site to see which Mini Catalog sets and SAB sets are the most popular with the SCS'ers, who are the best stampers ever?! I think that would be smart for them to do that, don't you?
Someone told me once that they have the catalogs planned a year or two in advance. Do they already know before the sets get out there in our hands that Paint Prints is the most popular SAB set? Or is it just the most popular SAB set here on SCS, and not SU-wide in general??
IMO, they would be wise to see what sells the best by visiting some of these sites, but I bet they track sales and can see trends just from the orders that are received. It is interesting though!
From what I've seen, the sets with wheels tend to make it into the big catalogs. The rest of the sets seem to be a dice roll. BTW, Petal Prints had (has) a matching wheel.
I would love to know the "formula" they use to decide which sets get retired. Half of them make sense and the other half make me scratch my head.
I would be willing to bet that the 2005-2006 catalog is put together and is getting it's final revisions and spell checks right now.
I don't know if they check the site for that or not, but they would be smart to check the site for a lot of things!!! I think this site is such a great indicator of things in the SU/stamping world - best sellers, trends, techniques, etc.
SU! would not be where it is today, if they didn't carefully observe trends in the market and make sure they were a part of it. They watch their competitors, they watch the industry overall, they watch their sales . . .
Rest assured, they have their eye on a lot, and use the info they gather to propel SU! to be one of the top RS companies around. Does this mean I like every stamp set they've ever produced? Certainly NOT, but every year, they produce sets in a wide enough variety of styles to appeal to many tastes.
You betcha they are watching!--EVERYWHERE!

Oh, I am sure SU tracks their sales most diligently. Otherwise, how would they know what sets to retire? True, some of the older sets go, but I have seen some only be in the big catty once, then be on the D/C list the next summer. You can bet they will be watching to see what SAB sets get chosen by the Hostess and Demo'rs. There is some leeway to the big catty before it goes to print I really don't think it is all 'set in stone' a year or two beforehand. They have to allow for trends and new styles that have caught on.

They should give Lana some royalties for the JJ epidemic too!!!! I know it is because of her that I bought it!! LOL AND MANY OTHERS ON HERE!!!
If SU! is up on the trends, they most definitely should make butt stamping part of one of the make n' takes at the '05 Convention...Lana should be that project's design consultant!
