I stamp the back of all my cards or anything else I make and then sign and date it with the year. I have collected many differant stamps for the backs of cards and use the one that goes along with the style of the card. I have recently been doing more detailed work that turns out like paintings so I have been signing the fronts on some of them too. I also use the angel policy stamp I purchased about 5 years ago on the cards I sell. Every card you create is a little piece of art work so sign your art!!

I'm too new at this to have made anything but cards for close family, but I have watched some videos on youtube from a French Canadian stamper, and she signs her cards at the very end of the clip... it looks so charming, that I am thinking of doing that on my future cards.

I use a personalized stamp that I ordered from SU to stamp the back of my cards. I make sure I keep it on my table because if I don't see it, I will forget to put my name on my cards.

i just write my initials and the year as "08" for example on the back of the card in lead pencil. that way, the person receiving your card through perhaps a swap can remember who made the card but has the option of rubbing out my name if they are giving it to someone they know.

I always stamp the back of my cards. I have several personalized stamps that I purchased from Paper Angels. If you've never seen their stamps, I highly recommend you go to their website. They have several designs for personalized stamps.

I did when I first started stamping. I haven't done it recently. I would think you would do it only if you were sending a card to someone you don't know and is a stamper or if you were in a swap. I think it is a good idea to do that so people will know who sent it.

I sign my art :/
but I hand-sign my cards.
to make 'em a little more special to the person that I gave it to.
But if it's just for a blog
I just put a copywrite thing and my name.

Great info. I hadn't thought about putting the year on them. Generally I use the generic hand stamped type stamps from SU but now I'm thinking of ordering a personalized one--(honestly i've been too cheap in the past I wanted to spend that money on other stamps!)

Just wanted to let you know that I have had 2 of these and the rubber wears down so you don't get a good impression after awhile. I started a thread about it and it seems others have also had this problem. The rubber is different than their regular stamps. I like the concept, but the quality wasn't up to par.

Default special order stamp

I ordered one of the SU made to order stamps about four years ago and have never been happy with it. I should have complained and gotten a new one, but at that time, I thought it was operator arror and just let it go. It wasn't. I tried stamping on a mouse pad, taking the rubber off and using UM, but the darn thing just never gives a good impression.

I bought one that says Created by Nicole. This link will give you a lot of ideas if you would like to get one made. I love having my name on the back plus all my friend s and family thought it was pretty cool too! I don't sell my cards so I don't worry about the angel policies!

I just use address labels and run them through my printer. I put all of my info on there and just stick it on the back.

I think its important to take credit for your work. It's just like if you gave someone a print, drawing or a painting.

I use a stamp from SU's "I did it" set. I add my name the date and my blog address. It even has a little box to check if it's original or copied art. I'm always careful to add the other companies whose images I might have used too. :0)

I don't sell my cards, so I try to find a tiny image related to the style of the card and and I write or stamp Card by Cathy on it and usually the year.

I have several "stamped by" stamps in my drawer and rarely use them. I now use one stamp from the front of the card to draw the front and the back together and then use my initials somewhere "artistically" as my signature. Also never thought of dating them! I also use a stamp or two from the front of the card on the envelope.

I've had two personalized stamps made up: one with my name address and phone number and later with my name, email and website address and phone number. I moved since the first one, so I cut out the address, because I continued to use the old phone number. Both were made by SU and both are fine. I've had the first for 6 years and the other for over a year, at least.

I'm very happy with with both.

I got a custom stamp from this guy (or gal?) - an angel that says "handmade by Teresa". It's darling!

He was so easy to work with on the design and he patiently made each of the changes I requested. He'd change the artwork and send me an email of what the stamp would look like. I'd ask for another change and he'd do it again. I would highly recommend him for the price & service!

The only thing I hadn't counted on is that it comes unmounted with sticky foam, so you'll need something to mount it on. Lucky for me I had a stamp block from a stamp I no longer used so that's how I mounted mine.

He may charge more for a mounted stamp though - I didn't ask.

I have a lot of stamps that I use to sign my creations, some made for that purpose, some, just small stamps that fit my theme. Last night I made an anniversary card with Cosmobella and used a small martini glass to sign it on the back. I like to use a stamp that I made with my Cuttle bug. I took extra rubber from trimming SU stamps and peeled off thecushioning. Then I used a heart die and now I have a wonderful heart stamp, just the right size to sign a card in pale ink, then put my initials and the date in it!

That's what I do, too. I like the stamp on the back to have some relationship to the actual card. I forgot to sign a card for one of my DH's daughters and she gave me all kinds of grief about it. I didn't even think she knew they were handmade!

I don't sell my cards, but before I make them, I run the cardstock through the computer and my Print Shop program. They come out blank, but with my signature and I live in Waterford so they all say Waterford Greetings by Carole.

I use the angel policy stamps if I'm selling them, I don't usually sign them because I don't know what the person buying them is going to use them for! I don't sign cards I'm giving away (packs of 5 or whatever) as gifts for the same reason: I enjoyed making them, now if the person I'm giving them to wants to take credit for the art I say let 'em!

[My experience has been that people who like the card will ask who made it and my relatives and friends are usually very gracious about giving me credit]

I use my C-45 monogram stamper! I use the smaller type to add a message, or 'handmade by ...', use the center portion for my initials, or my name, "Deb" which is only 3 letters so it fits perfectly ... and then the date, or just the year, on the bottom.

I keep it right on my work table, and since it's pre-inked, I simply grab it, open it, and quickly stamp on the back before storing or mailing. Easy-peasy!!

I mentioned that I use my monogram stamp set this way to a stampin' friend and she was floored by the concept. I've been doing this since I got my C-45 and just assumed everyone did the same!

LOLOL, so if this is redundant info, I apologize but I thought I'd share here in the hopes that someone else might not have thought about it. It's super-easy and a great way to use (and help justify the purchase!), of a kinda more expensive stampin' tool.

I went to my local office supply store and had them make a stamp that says "Mary made this." It cost about $4.00. Everyone gets a kick out of it!

If I'm trying to drum up some business I will put my SU! info sticker on the back, but for friends or gifts, I just use my SU! "hand stamped by Angela" stamp. Sometimes I put my phone number under that. Depends on my mood )

I do my card insides and backs in Publisher. After seeing the Hallmark commercials over the years where someone looks at the back to see who's card it was ("Hallmark!"), I give my recipients something to look at. I choose a relevant clipart for the upper center and just below that I put in: M. Mountain tm (because when you are giving a card - never selling! - to family, friends, and neighbors, you need to have a TM. Trust me, they crack up at the injoke. That is followed by a relevant phrase (that chages with each card), such as what I did for my friend Bev's recent Birthday card (which is something she's said many times: I sure wish I could get inspired TM Artistic Greetings. I follow that with the year. Below that, I use a free UPC font for the date 0 00527 20080 0. You gotta have a UPC code to make it "authentic".

I always sign the backs of my cards. I have several stamps that I use for the back. Remember when Hallmark had the saying "When you care enough to send the very best" and they had the "Hallmark Crown"? One of my stamps has a crown and says "When I care enough, I make it myself."

Another one I have says "This card was made by hand. If you throw it away those same hands will make a doll in your image and stick pins in its butt."

Another one says, "Now I know this may be hard for you to believe but...I MADE THIS! Don't just stand there dumbfounded, Get excited or something!"

This one has a bar code with it and says "Made just for you, because you're...PRICELESS

This one is a Bella stamp, "Stamps: $6457.33 Supplies: $7872.58 Handmade card: Priceless"

The last one says, "Move over Hallmark This card is stamped By the very best!"

I love all of these stamps and use which ever one is "proper" for the person I am sending the card too. (Not everyone would laugh at the "...sticking pins in its butt" stamp.)

I just looked at that website and those stamps are soooo cute! I almost ordered one, but the total would be about $22 US and so now I am thinking that I better sleep on it. I for sure would never pay $22 for a stamp here in the U.S. I wonder if there are other companies that make personalized stamps like that...

Anybody ever heard of such a thing?

By the way, it's about $2 US for each Brittish pound. The stamp I was looking at was 5 pounds and the shipping was 6 pounds.
