I got into stamping for my scrapbooks. and even though I've learned to like making cards I still love to scrapbook ( with or without stamps).

I'll never stop scrapbooking. (I can't I have too much stuff! lol) I love it.

I enjoy them both - but my greater love is card making!

I love both, but I do more card making because it is faster to make a card than to go through my photos!!!

I am a cardmaker at heart, but I do love going to crops. I have a hard time getting motivated at home, but I get so much done at crops. As for scrapping the backlog...I started in Sept and only do from there on. I don't ever intend to redo the regular photo albums I have.

I enjoy them both very much, but if I had to pick one it would be scrapbooking..... I've been doing that a lot longer... 8 years compared to 2 years

By far.....card making! I love to scrapbook, but I always end up just making cards. My DD is 6 and I only have her scrapbook done upto 3 months old (aaaugh). And haven't even started my 3 yr. old DS scrapbook.

I have to say scrapbooking brings me more pleasure. It's fun to make the page & then to reminicise about what ever the page is about. The scrapbook pages are for me & my family to keep so we can remember our lives together. Cardmaking is more of a chore for me... I "have" to make so & so a birthday card, You know what I mean. I need to spend a day making a bunch of cards so that they will be at my disposal instead of waiting till the last minute when the pressure is on!!

I love cardmaking of course and then got caught by the scrapbooking trends--something about that Sizzix drew me in. So I gotta say that I enjoy both.

Scrapbooking!

I love cardmaking, but there is nothing like completing an entire album and getting to keep it!

I always feel badly when I read how it takes someone HOURS to complete a page or how they can't 'create' a good layout.

In under six hours Saturday, I had two friends over who both completed ENTIRE albums - one was a 30 page (144 photos!) memorial of her father's death and the other was a 42 page (just at 100 photos) wedding album!

I recently completed a 42 page vacation album (over 200 photos!) in just a few hours a night for three nights.

All of these pages have borders, titles, matting and maybe some other enhancements here and there.

IT CAN be done...please don't keep your photos in sticky type albums. And if they are in a photo safe box (not photo SIZED) realize they are much safer than they would be in an unsafe album.

Rule of thumb here: acid free does not equal photo safe! If that is the case, why would we get so upset if our photos got milk or cooking oil on them? Because these things are not safe/good for our photos.

What ever type of paper TOUCHES your photos should be lignin free to keep the photo from discoloring and thinning.

What ever type of plastics touch your photos need to say PVC free and PAT tested (pass the photo safety standards).

If you have them stored in a box, be sure the box is dark storage, breathable and made of photo safe materials.

DO NOT feel as though you need to scrapbook every photo you have.

The reason many people scrapbook is because a scrapbook style album is one of the only types of albums/photo storage systems where you can store photos, memorbilia AND write the story that tells about them all in one place, safely.

Of course some people create traditional albums, some add enhancements and others want to create a work of decorative art. It's a matter of personal choice. But remember, just because Donna Decorative is creative and enjoys spending hours working on her family album doesn't mean that Patty Plain's album is any less a work of her heart!

Sorry, I got on my soap box! It's just after helping several people create memorial albums for loved ones who have passed and after working with aging patients, seeing what these albums with their stories can do for them....I'm very passionate about helping others create albums that tell the story and are works of the heart....quickly, easily and without robbing the bank...something everyone can do!

thanks for allowing me to ramble!

I think I prefer card making. I feel less overwhelmed and I like the instant gratification and the fact that you can achieve more in an evening. I do like scrapbooking, but sometimes, I feel like I'm taking a deep breath before jumping in! Inspiration comes faster for cards, too.

Default which do you prefer scrapbooking or card making

I have made cards off and on for years..without stamps... and have scrapbooked for five years straight...I love scrapbooking because I scrap my grandkids mostly and that is the best feeling to look back and remember... but now you ladies and my daughter have me hooked on cards... but I enjoy both now that I stay at home unless I am out shopping for more stuff.... if it comes from your heart...then it is RIGHT
