I just got my aqua pens and I LOOOOOVE them. I thought it would be hard to control the color and it would bleed. NOT!! I really felt in control and I thought the color was more intense and you could really decide how muted the watercolor effect you want.

I think for starters blender pens are more versatile. You can use them with stampin pastels, watercolor pencils and to pick up color from your ink pad. You can use the aqua painter with watercolor pencils and ink pads and you can fill it with Future floor polish to use with Pearl Ex. I guess it boils down to what other accessories you have.

I love the aqua brushes way better than the blender pens. I don't think I have used my blender pens since I got the aqua brushes, just because the aqua brushes do basically more than the blender pens could!!

I have both - the SU blender pens and then I just bought an aquapen from Mikes (wanted to test drive one before I plopped down the $$ for the SU ones) and I used it last night and I LOVE the aquapen...

One thing that was keeping me from buying an aquapen was the fact I thought you needed re-inkers to use it...or full sized pads (of which I only have 3) but someone here on SCS stated that you can use your spots or your markers and a butter tub top (or a CD holder)...just stamp the spot or scribble with the marker on the plastic and then use that as your palette with your auqabrush. (or you could use your blender pen)

I would say the Aquabrush is good to use with ink and doing larger spaces - where your blenderpens would probably be better with the chalks and the pencils and for the smaller spaces...

I so agree with Kar! I think my blender pen is in the drawer with my watercolor pencils, but I can be sure LOL! I love the aqua pen and use it all the time. It's perfect to put a little shadow of grey around an image to give it some highlight. It's awesome!

I ENJOY them both!!!!! I gotta say I tried the aqua pen filled with Future Floor Wax the other night along with my Pearl Ex and I'm in LOVE!!!! I now have an order in for ALL the Pearl Ex!!!!!!!

You can also use the top of the box that your stamps come in. This is a great technique to use at a stamp camp/ class and you only have one ink pad to use with a blender pen/ aqua painter.

BTW- My vote is blender pens. I have not had much success with the Aqua painters, but I absolutely LOVE my blender pens!

The blender pens are nice for using with chalk, but I wore out all of them doing one big project. Had to throw them away because the tips were ruined. The aqua painters don't wear out! I love using the refills with them to get a really nice color. And Future floor wax and PE is fantastic. Get both if you can afford them, but go for the aqua painters if you must decide. An added bonus (as mentioned in another post) is to use the AP to moisten the flaps of all those Christmas cards. That's what I'll be doing tonight!

I haven't used my blender pen since getting my painters...and I've never been a big fan of the blender/pastel because whenever I did it, it looked like a pre-schooler had defaced my cards! :oops: I only use the blender with my markers on glossy cs, but haven't done that in awhile.

I think they're both great...it just depends on how you use them! Right now I'm more about using my blender pens, but I'm sure I'll switch back after a while! To answer your question scrappin scientist, blender pens are used with watercolor pencils to create that watercolor effect. I like to color certain areas in a little more darkly, and then "pull" the color inward, so that color becomes more diluted as it moves in. It's a nice effect!

I use them both. I prefer the blender pens if I'm doing detail work and don't want to muck it up or get it too wishy washy, but for broad colouring and blending, I love the AP's.

I love the blender pen. Do not like the brush. The blender does exactly what I want it to do with a look at I love. I now use my aquacolor crayons again. As far as having to throw them away, I use dove blenders, never have to throw them away, just change the tip and refill it. I also have SU blenders and I am just going to refill them with the dove blender fluid so until the tips wear down they are good to go.

Once you put the floor wax into that aquapainter, it should only be used for floor wax. Many people buy an extra set (one for floor wax only and one for bleach only). Then keep the extra set for regular watercoloring.

Aren't I dumb!! Last night I was stamping at a friend's and her sister asked why I was using water with my blender pens! Duh! I have no idea why I've been using them that way. I've even read so much here about blender pens and I know I don't need water. I tried them on their own - they're great!
