I downloaded and printed one of Dustin Pike's digital stamps. I was planning to color with my SU markers. I didn't even consider the possibility the ink would run. So my question is...what printer ink could I use that wouldn't run? And what do all of you color digital images with?
Thanks for your help!
I have used both prismas and alcohol based markers for coloring. I haven't had a problem with either of them really although I do tend to heat set my ink and let them sit a good 24 hours before I color, I have an HP printer. I would try heat setting the ink to see if that helps.
I use a regular inkjet printer by HP. I have no problems coloring with copics or prismacolor pencils and gamsol. I do have trouble with baby oil, but heat setting with the embossing tool helps. You can even watercolor it when heat set.
I print with a Canon iP4500 and I use reinkers and water brush to color without a problem. You can see a card I made with this technique on this post and this post. The paper does get wrinkly a little bit, but I have the Georgia Pacific brand that may be at fault. I can't wait to use GinaK's pure luxury papers, which I heard are just DA BOMB for coloring. Leave it to dry, then when I glue it on my card you can really tell.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try to the heat set and see what happens. I thought maybe my problem was the type of ink in my printer. I hope I get this figured out!
momtoggko, Thanks for sharing the link for that lovely digital flower! It's so pretty!

I have an HP printer also and had the same problem. Now I heat set the ink and it works great. Thank you ladies for the advise. I also just use reinkers and water brush to color.

That is beautiful! I haven't downloaded it yet, because my printer is downstairs anyway and not hooked up to my laptop which I use right now. Hope to get a chance to download it tomorrow. Your art is gorgeous!
I also spray mine with a fixative. I'm too impatient to leave it over night to set. Once the fixative is dry (within 5 minutes with a very light coat) your ready to roll.
I had a problem with printing on an inkjet and coloring with Copics even after heat setting. The ink would still bleed a redish color.
I had some Epson Enhanced Matte Paper Photo Paper around and I decide to print my Digi's using that paper, it is a real smooth paper. You have to be careful and print on the correct side. If you compare the two sides, one side has a yellowish hue to it...that is the back, you want to print on the bright white side.
I printed using an Epson Stylus Photo 1400 (lg Format).
Here are the details on the paper.
11.7" x 16.5"
297mm x 420mm
192 g/m2
10 mil
If you don't have a large format printer you can cut the paper in half and get two almost 8.5 x 11's
It worked beautifully with Copics!
You can get the paper online at Bhphotovideo.com i purchased mine locally for $40 and you get 50 sheets!

I realize this is an old thread, but am wondering how you "heat set" your inkjet digi-stamps and what kind of "fixative you use. I am assuming the heat setting is done with a heat gun, but for how long do you apply the heat and how close do you get with the gun? Anyone?
I had replied before on this old thread. In the mean time I started having terrible bleeding problems, until someone shared a wonderful tip with me here on SCS.
When printing out the image, choose "photo paper" in your printer's properties. You still use the same card stock, not photo paper. This has helped me so much and I had not had any issues at all with any kind of coloring mediums.
To answer the last question: I used to heat set with my embossing gun, but never had any luck with that, and didn't have much luck with a fixative either, because everything I tried smelled.
