Default Design Team Members, and all around prolific crafters.....

I've been looking at some of the amazing creations that people have on their blogs, and on SCS, and that got me to wondering: what do you do with all of the amazing things that you create?
For instance, I saw a gorgeous journal on JS's blog. After you are done admiring it, what do you do with it? I would think that you have long ago run out of people to give these things to. I don't mean this to sound rude. I actually have been enjoying making journals, and have lots of ideas swimming around in my head. The thing is, I don't know what to do with them once I make them.
I'm looking forward to lots of responses![/I]

Hehe..... if you're talking about the journal on my blog. It's for me! I always end up giving everything away as gifts - but that one is all mine

Most of the samples on my blogs are cards I send out. And, if I don't send them out I use them as samples at my stampin' up workshops. Most 3-D items I give away as hostess gifts, presents, etc.

Most of what I make, I'm making with someone in mind. Any 3-d objects I may make are always a gift or used as a Hostess gift. You can never run out of anyone to send/give cards/items too. Doesn't have to be an occasion at all.. just a because.

I send out my stuff, give it as gifts, and sell the rest at a local salon. Man, I sound like Blue Bell! lol

I save them... or sell them at craft shows... or give them... or send them out for publication. Some cards we actually send to the companies we design for and they use them for retail store samples or trade shows. Some just sit in a box for a year... then they are donated.

Some I give to a local Assisting Living facility... and they are gifted to residents who do not get mail or "sold" at the "bingo store" in exchange for "bingo bucks"... so residents can send them to their loved ones.

I use most of what I make. However, I have several friends and family members who love to send cards to people, so I give them stacks of cards from time to time. For example, my SIL who claims to use about 100 cards a year just got a box of 75 from me.

I'm on a couple of design teams, and I have to send in any of the cards I make to satisfy my team obligations. I also like to send cards in for publication. So...even though I make cards all the time, I have only a few birthday cards on hand, no thank you cards, one sympathy card...do you see a trend here? LOL. It's kind of like the plumber with a leaky faucet or the cobbler with worn-out shoes!

I guess you could say I'm a "collector" LOL! I love to make cards, but really bad about sending them. I recently send some in to a magazine though, which was a "first". So that cleared my box out a little. I've also donated a bunch to our church's card ministry in the past too when I got overloaded with them.

I have so many friends, co-workers, etc.... I never run out of people to give things to. And whatever I don't give as gifts I usually sell.

Well I have 9 kids and assorted other friends/relatives, so usually my creations get given away as soon as I make them.....I also like to send RAK's whenever possible, and often create with that in mind.

I send all my DT stuff to the companies I design for. I send a lot of stuff for publication (not that they publish all of it, but it's somewhere in the stampington office I presume) I do try to send cards to friends and stuff too.

I do not keep a large stash of cards on hand though. It was my new years resolution for 2007 to use everything I make in some way or another. Actually I need to ship some stuff out today so I can end the year with an empty box.

I laughed at myself when I sent my Christmas photo card with a computer generated letter on pre-printed stationery and computer printed address labels. It seems like I rarely send the stuff I make, but I never have anything on hand.

Here's one thing I have done a few times. A good friend turned 40 last year. I chose 40 cards from my stash and put them in an altered tin for her birthday gift. She LOVED it! Of course, now I have no stash..LOL

Some of my cards go to friends and family, most are done for Keiki Cards, Relay for Life/Cancer fund raisers and the soldiers.

I've also made journals for some of the Keiki children and the Relay for life.

I like to create and those are good reasons for doing so!

This is a great idea! I bought some tins, so I think I will give my Mom and sister some cards to send out this year. The tin makes it even more special.

I really, really need to take some of the advice here!! I have boxes and boxes of stamped stuff...and I would much rather it be of use to someone than sitting in storage!

Between creating for my blog - posting almost every day and making so many samples for classes, etc - I ended up with a shoe box full of extra cards. One day it gave me great joy to send them to someone here on SCS who was collecting cards for residents in nursing homes to give to others. Now when I feel stuck in a creative rut I love finding someone to send a card to.
You asked a very good question!

To Erin and the others in the thread who submit cards and other projects for publication in magazines: Do you ever post the pictures of your projects on SCS, or do you avoid that so the idea won't be copied? I assume that for cards and projects which will be sent in for design team purposes that those wouldn't be made public on SCS, but I've always wondered what is the correct protocol regarding submissions for magazine publication.

Much of what I make for my DTs end up being sent to friends, given as gifts, sent in to the companies for them to use at shows, etc. I just sent off my first cards for consideration for publication (keep your fingers crossed!). All things everyone else has mentioned thus far.

One thing I did last year, and intend to do from here on out, is create a basket of handmade cards that is auctioned off for a charity that is very dear to my heart. I made it look (sort of) like a pot of flowers, and it ended up making $100 (about $5/card). Here's a link to it in my gallery if any of you are interested: http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...0&ppuser=94858.
I figure this will be a great way to annually clean out my backlog and give to a cause I believe in.

I am a foster parent for French Bulldog Rescue Network and once a year (for Easter) we auction off easter baskets to raise money. It's done by region so it's kind of a friendly competition but I take the altered journals and brag books that I make and I put them in our basket. Most of them are very easily modified to have a doggie theme so that's not a problem. I haven't make any brag books or journals recently though so this year may be a box of cards.

I actually send some of my stuff to people here on SCS when they tell me they like it and want it, LOL! You never know when you comment if the person will give it to you.

I have some shelving where I like to put my fave stuff (along with stamps and other knick knacks). I even put layouts up there! I just love to look at it - it makes me smile.

Wow . . . what a great question to ask . . . and what awesome answers. I don't make nearly as much stamped items as I would like to . . . but the things I do make I typically give away as gifts to friends, family, co-workers, and some of my dear stamping and SCS sisters. The things I don't give away I usually sell at the two craft shows I do each year.

I would really like to enter some of my cards for publication, but have no idea how to do so. This is a goal of mine for 2008 (to get something published) so any pointers would be great.
