Hi! Watercolor pencils and blender pens are a really good thing for me. People love them. I am thinking that the spots are going to be a biggie also tho--as I have just started promoting them and people are really excited about them. I just got in a set for myself a couple weeks ago and have not actually had them at a demo but just by showing them to friends have sold several sets. HTH. Gina

This is what I find WOWs people and therefore end up purchasing:

Stampin' Spots (if they are new to stamping)
Dazzling Diamonds glitter w/2-way glue pen
assorted cardstock packs (good for door prizes)
stamp sets that can be used for more than one theme/holiday (tags and more...I guess that's why it's listed in the starter kit)
Any color embossing power...I know this was one of the first things I purchased when I started stamping...everything was embossed!
Versamark...used for watermark and poppin' pastels (great way to upsell pastels!)

Hope this helps you decide!

Have fun...being a demo is great!

I'll be happy to tell you what works for me; but you'll have to stop shouting! Just a friendly note, typing in all caps is considered shouting in emails and on web boards...it's harder for people to read as well. I know it's way easier to type this way, but you might want to make the extra effort to do it the regular way...more people will read and respond to your posts if you use "netiquette"!

First thing I learned is that the stamps will sell themselves. What you are looking to showcase is the accessories. That means pastels and blender pens, watercolor pencils and blender pens, pastels and versamark, two way glue and dazzling diamonds glitter etc. I have sold a lot of pastels, watercolor pencils, versamark pads, powder pals (makes using glitter and EP SO easy!), two way glue and dazzling diamonds glitter, and punches like the rectangle punch, the wrought iron and square steps corner punches, the 1/16" hole punch with brads, etc. Plan your projects around the accessories you want to sell and you will sell them PLUS the stamps. Try to showcase just a stamp set and it just doesn't work as well.

As far as best selling stamp sets I'd have to say Stipple Rose and Lovely as a Tree. People love those and I've sold a lot of them. In my workshops I usually try to highlight a seasonal set, sometimes from the mini catalog, and something more versatile.

I agree with JanTink. I try to demo the accessories to compliment the stamps..

Versamark
Pastels
Embossing (was a hit a last nights workshop!)
Eyelets and the tools
Punches...big, big (especially for scrapbookers)
I passed around samples of the designer paper (copper kiss) so they could see it up close and then demoed it....sold several.

Must try the Dazzling Diamonds and two-way glue...have not demoed that yet.

I have done well with:

Watercolor pencils and blender pens

The Glitter and 2 way glue

Everyone LOVES Crystal Effects

Also the Plaidmaker and I use the foam pop in for the brayer and I use 1 foam pop in for each color.

Sounds DUH...but if they are new to SU! The scrubber and the mist.

Designer paper that coordinates SO PERFECTLY with our cs and stamp pads.
HTH!
Good Luck!!

As a new demo with a mixture of new and not so new stamping customers, I have found the biggest seller to be the chalks (stampin pastels). Use them at every workshop! People love them.
Good luck!

I agrea, versamark, pencils, embossing etc are must haves. I WOW everyone when when I do the plaidmaker. It's such an easy tool to use, and it impresses eveyone. In that case....add the brayer and foam insert

I think the versamark pad and pastels are my biggest accessories. I recently sold several Watercolor Garden II due to the many samples I've made up (mostly off this site ) and it is so easy to use.

I just want to put in my two cents worth....The biggest WOW for my customers is the versamark and pastels. Then I would say eyelets are popular. There's something about using the hammer to beat a little frustration

Good luck!

Default I sold lots of watercolor pencils and blender pens

Before I was so rudely deactivated (I didn't have any sales last quarter), when I held workshops I sold lots of watercolor pencils and blender pens. Also, I sold lots of ultrasmooth white cardstock. I always had a piece of imposter white (YES I AM SAYING IT IS INFERIOR!), and a piece of US white and had them stamp on it so they could see the huge difference. It always added 6.50 to almost every persons order. When I 1st started as a customer I thought my demo was insane for wanting me to buy paper from her too... but we all learn sooner or later and now I am letting my daughters use all that IMPOSTER card stock I bought in the pre-demo days because I know I will NEVER use it.

Bottom line, push what you like. They will feel your enthusiasm and probably order what you demo. That's what happened to me all the time.

Good luck!

I really push the pastels since that was my saving grace when I started a few months ago. The Starter Kit was the only SU products I had to I really streched my colors with the pastels. I sell the pastels and black classic pad to almost every new stamper. I must have sold nearly 30 of those in the last 3 months! This is even without demoing the popin pastels. (I can 't to get it right, but plan on practicing again today.)

Good luck and weclome to the family!

As a customer (not a demo) I am going to agree with what everyone is saying about the pastels and versamark. I LOVE mine! There are just so many ways you can use them. You can do that with the markers as well but the chalks are so much cheaper for all 48 colors. I love watercolor pencils but a big disadvantage is that the colors are the same as the 48.

I think that the new starter sets in the front of the catalog are AWESOME! I think having some of those things to demo in person would be great! I spent about $50 on my first order but didn't have enough to really make anything. So showing them that with one set they could make tons of cards and the variety of projects. That would have been a huge selling point for me!

Good luck!

If you haven't ordered your Starter Kit yet I would recommend switching from Fresh Flowers to Bold Basics. For the same price I think it's a much more versatile set. The solid square let's you demo shadowing stamping without purchasing another set.

Tags And More is a huge seller every time I demo it because it can be used year-round. When I demo it with Poppin Pastels I always sell at least two of the sets and everyone who doesn't have Versamark and Pastels yet almost always buy them.

The Paper Snips sell themselves if you use them in your demo. They are so great for cutting out stamped images and are a great price for good quality scissors.

As a demo, I have found that you will definitely sell a little bit of most anything that you demo. I always try to demo 3 different projects with different price point of items i.e. (1) 11.95-14.95 set, (1) 16.95-$24.95 set and one $24.95+ to priceless (hostess set).

My best selling sets have been:

Nice and Easy Notes (it's versatile)
Mini Mates (Versatile and has a lot of sayings)
French Script Background (classy background)
Lovely as a Tree (great for masculine cards as well as scrapbooking)
Wonderful Words (everyone's favorite new set)

As for accessories, the Dazzling Diamonds glitter and 2 way pens really are great sellers. The pastels and blender pens, the brads, and Stampin' Spots are also wonderful to demo for sales.

Hope this helps!

Heather

I totally agree! But it might take time to sink in.
I sometimes sell at this party what I demo'd at another party 2 months ago to the same ladies.
Just like me, they go home and can't get it out of their mind, and HAVE TO HAVE IT!!! ( shouting intentional! )

Honey, no one was offended at your shouting...we've all BEEN THERE!
