I'm trying to make A2 card and want to CB emboss half the front of the card.
The BC EFs don't make it all the way to 5 1/2 inches...there is that ugly strip that hangs out at the bottom....how do I do complete the embossing to the bottom?
I've done a search and we have a zillion threads on CB..can anyone direct me to an answer? Thanks so much..I'm ready to scream..please?
graciez......I don't know what you mean by the letters CB, BC and EF.
If you're trying to get the embossing folder to cover the entire card, that's not going to happen totally. You could just center the embossing folder on the card front and emboss then use a Scor-Pal or some other scoring tool and draw a score line above and below the embossed section.
Pam..I tried that and there is always a ridge..I can't make it work.
I want to emboss half the 5 1/2 length of the card.
Sorry there was a typo..there is no BC..i reversed the letters..I meant CB.
CB=cuddlebug EF=embossing folders.
Thanks to you both...
can you cut down your card slightly? so it fills the entire embossing area of the card...chance are no one would be the wiser with 1/4 inch sheered off

Jen...I could do that....I just thought there was a way to do it..it's for a swap so I hate to cut it down, but that's what I may have to do...Thanks for your help...:0)
I was surprised and bummed about that at first, also...didn't notice before I bought it, but there is always a plain rim around the embossed part (usually a colored layer), so that's usually what I do. Or, I run it through twice and cover the place where it joins with a ribbon or image so it's not noticeable. is like that because it is 5x7 card...if you look closely you can tell the words do not fit exactly right (behind the image, a little above & below is visible).
So I guess I just work around it somehow. I agree that no one will notice 1/4" taken off, either...
HTH!

no idea how to make it work by running it back thru etc, Since I dont have a cb...but my suggestion would be to purposely cut your card stock 1/4 inch larger than you need, and then trim off the part that didnt emboss, to the size your card was intended to be..

The size of the embossing image is 4 x 5 1/4 so it's not a matter of how big the paper is...since you don't have a CB you wouldn't know that but thought I'd explain : )

thanks for explaining that...I have a couple of marvy embossers that you roll thru and if I am not careful I get a bit at the bottom that doesnt emboss...but I am glad you mentioned that about the size..I am and have been weighing the options for getting a cb...still cant make up my mind
I just use the embossed CS as a layer on the front of the card.

Yep, that is what I do. I just make it a layer, then it is not too short. Or just make your card 1/4 inch shorter.

Thanks, Lynn, this sounds like the best way. Now wouldn't you think they would think to make the cuddlebug the size of a A2 card and not slightly smaller????

The only embossing folder that I've really noticed a problem with was the Swiss Dots. With my others, the margin isn't really that noticeable, but it sure is with that one!

I do the same thing. I have seen a thread on reverse embossing where they fold the front of the card, run it through so the top half is "bumpy" and the bottom half has "ridges". They put a ribbon around the fold to hide that. Hope my description makes sense!! I haven't tried this but it did look neat!
Thanks everyone. I think I was trying to do the impossible....CB just a portion of the front of the card itself, without using ribbon or something as a cover for the ridge.
I guess I'll go back to just using the embossed as a separate layer.
Heartprints is a great site...she is so talented. Thanks all...
I hate to enable further (NOT!) but check out this site as well: Indigo Inklings
Along the bar on the right, there is a list of Cuttling Tutorials. She does an excellent job of explaining - with pictures! - how to do partial embossing with your bug.
Also, SophieLaFontaine altered one of her folders to allow her to emboss with multiple passes thru the machine. Here's a thread where she explains what she did: Cut-Up Cuttlebug
Thanks for the link to Indigo Inklings! Great site with tons of tutorials. I especially like the idea of making your own embossing foleders using chipboard and transparency folders. Off to Staples I go!
Cheryl..thanks so much for those links! I subscribed to both blogs...they are wonderful and have answered my questions about tricks and tips to CB embossing. really appreciate it....
