Default Crop in style desk???

I have seen some of these in the gallery - desks and storage units made out of the Crop and Style elements...

For those that have this - does it work well for you - was it worth the money or do you think you should have spent money on something else...

I am getting ready to revamp my craft space and I have room along one wall to put a desk/storage combination....

I am trying to decide to cobble something together with the Crop and style (this may take awhile since I would buy it piece by piece with a Micheals % off coupon) or just go with a "build it yourself" Ikea desk version

I see where the cubes have a desk part you can attach - is it fairly sturdy?

I have an IKEA desk and just love it. I have alot of their stuff in my room.

That said J's had a whole bunch of coupons in las Sunday's paper and some online. You could use one a day at M's and get your cubes real quick this week.

I have the Ikea "expedit" and the matching desk attachment. The desk is very sturdy, but you HAVE to have the expedit braced to the wall or it will lean and tip. I suggest the 5x5 cube expedit if your using the desk because I just think it "fits" better with it than the 4x4 expedit.

Keep in mind that the cubes you want to use your coupon for at M's are NOT crop in style, they are the same brand Target sells, are a little smaller, a little cheaper, and lot less sturdy.

I have 6 of the crop in style cubes and had my FIL install the desktop cause I too thought it was way cute! Okay, for starters, the crop in style cubes are taller, so the desk becomes almost counter height and I had to buy a drafting chair (taller) and for whatever reason that was very hard to find and I ended up buying a floor sample at office depot because no stores had any. So I get it all together, boost myself up on my brand new chair and start scraping. Problem #1 - very narrow work space....so I was getting up and down a lot. Problem #2 - the desktop is attached to the back of the cubes and little support. I would push down with adhesive or something and you could hear cracks and pops...the desktop is not friendly to pressure.

I hope this helps, just wanted to bring up the fact that it wasn't all I thought it would be, and have since removed the desktop.

My stamping space uses the Criop in Style Cubes and a prefab kitchen counter for the top. Here's a link
