Default Creativation 2019 Tidbits

I thought maybe we could do a thread with tips, tricks, tidbits of info we all pick up while watching videos from Creativation.

Such as.............Tim Holtz said he wasn't going to do a white Media Mat because Tonic already has a white glass mat. (I know some here were hoping for one. Sorry)

What I've gathered from photos and posts is that stamping and stampers are not going away any time soon. So many companies with great stamps, any style that we dream about. Scrapbooking, on the other hand, seems to be absent from the show. I will check the blogs of my four favorite scrap companies after the show to see what is new.

Regarding the We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill:

The full kit will be $99.99 (available in February)

If purchasing the separate tips they will be $39.99 each
There are multiple thumbdrives available with art/words which are $12.99 each

It doesn't work with all foils as its done with heat not pressure, you'd need to test it (it DOESN'T work with Minc foil)

There are a few brand new stamp companies but I didn't write any of them down. I do know I was excited to see that Simon Hurley who is only 16 years old has brand new stamps, ink pads, paper and stencils. All put out through Ranger so no doubt, he will go far!!

I am quite excited about Gina K expanding her amalgam ink to include colors. I also was intrigued by the dripless hot glue gun.

I haven't tried her amalgam ink yet but you're excitement on the new colors has me intrigued. You can never have enough ink pads, rights? lol

Tim Holtz said the Oxide Sprays are not the same formula/concentration as Oxide Reinkers.

Amalgam ink is cool because it will work with alcohol markers, water color markers as well as colored pencils and gamsol. I am interested in no line colors that will be coming out. Once the ink is stamped and you begin coloring evidently you can color over the lines and you will no longer be able to see them. For anyone who likes to color and does not want a stamped out lines in their image these inks sound amazing. Gina K. products have a tendency to be quite awesome.

I haven't tried the Amalgam ink specifically but other companies branding hybrid inks from Stewart Superior already have lots of colors to choose from! Just so you know. Hero, Impression Obsession, MFT, Scrapbook.com, Simon, and others.

I'm intrigued by the new Stazon pigment inks from Tsukineko/Imagine.... and didn't think I'd be needing any new stamps until I saw Art Impressions' live video, and if I get to spend money on anything new, it will be there.

It would have been fun to have a Splitcoast contingent there for updates, wouldn't it? That's been a thing in the past... but all our people in attendance were busy working and demoing, which is awesome too. The Stamp Junkies group on Facebook posted lots of videos, if you're a member there, and did a great job getting around the show floor.

I've been watching a lot of his videos lately, it's really nice to see a young guy crafting. I knew he didn't look very old, I thought maybe late teens, but I'm gobsmacked that he's only 16. All respect to him, and won't be surprised at him going a long way in the industry.

I hadn't seen Simon's videos, but I had to go visit after reading about him here. Wow! He's good, professional in his presentation, and a good designer! He will go far!

I'm thinking Simon may actually be 21 now. His 'about' says he's a 16 year old cardmaker, but it also says he joined You Tube in 2014, so I'm guessing thats when he wrote that?

I just can't believe how many new things there are that don't already exist. I was a bit overwhelmed with all my WANTS and NEEDS. Can't wait to see Jennifer McGuire start demoing them and showing me how to use them. She's my go to......

He didn’t say it was the same formulation but different concentration? That was my take-away. But I was watching late at night in bed so wasn’t the most alert.

He said you couldn't just add water to the reinkers to make a spray as you would immediately get the oxidized effect. They had to make a new formula to be able to get a liquid spray.

Right, Oxide reinkers (for Oxide pads) are not the same as the new Oxide sprays.

I was referring to what Fifiwesfan said, but misread what she wrote. I was referring to the Oxide pads and new Oxide sprays being a different concentration but otherwise the same as each other. But she was referring to reinkers and the new sprays. (Who’s on first?) So ignore me. {need more sleep}
