Default Crafty Secrets stamps question

I just recieved 5 sets of the Crafty Secrets clear stamp sets from HSN and they smell so bad! Even before I took them out of the box. My dh and I could smell them. His comment was, they stink! Well I just set down with them and started opening them from their individual wrappers and by the time I
got three open and laid out on the table I was woozy and tingly in my arms.
15 min later and I still am. I am several rooms away from them .
My question is will they ever air out? or do I need to send them back. I have bought many sets of clear stamps and they never smelled anything like this. These are the first I have ever bought of this brand. Love them but can't breathe around them at this point.

Has anyone bought their stamps before? Please advise quickly about the smell.

You might get better feedback here:

Forums at Splitcoaststampers

in their member gallery. That's where the Crafty honchos hang out! I've never played with their stamps, so I have no idea. I was in their booth at CHA for a spell and there was no odor, even with lots of sets hanging about.

I received three sets of stamps from the Crafty Secrets website a few days ago, and there was no odor.

Oh I LOVE their stamps ~ I was just opening up some new ones today and thought to myself, "Wow - these smell great!!" LOL!! They do have a smell but I think it's actually pleasant. (Anyone remember sniffing their mimeograph sheets in school ?)

I keep mine in a 12 x 12 plastic storage drawer and the new ones are in there with the older ones. The older ones have lost the smell, so don't worry ~ it will go away ;) .

Don't worry, the smell goes away! The smell means that it's a high quality photopolymer, the best kind of clear stamp. It does smell awful at first, though, I agree. Leave them open for a day or two and see if that helps.

I have several sets of Crafty Secrets stamps - and none have smelled at all. They REALLY DO have fabulous customer service that I have experienced first hand - so do let them know. I am sure they will be of help.

Hi Tia,
I wish to address your concern with our stamps right away, they should not smell like that. We have a girl working in a room full of 100's of stamps at our warehouse and I talked to her and she has not noticed any smell or felt bad, she also often brings her small daughter to work with her and she has not had any problems. I want you to send them back to us so we can replace them. Please call us right away. 1-888-597-8898.
We have our stamps produced in the USA because we were concerned about the quality and the different materials clear stamps can be made of. Our stamps are made of photopolymer with no latex or phthalates, all clear stamps have a slight smell when you first open the bag that should quickly dissipatates when you remove it. The company that makes our stamps also make 80% of the stamps made in the USA. I talked to our manufacturer this morning to see if they have received any complaints or concerns regarding smell or other issues and they have assured me they have not had any reports.
We do not sell directly to HSN so I am not sure where or how the stamps were affected before they got to you. We will follow this up to see what happened.

Below are FAQ about our clear stamps and the answers provided by our manufacturer.

Q. What is the difference between our stamps vs. other stamps?
A. Our stamps are made from yellowing resistant photopolymers. These polymers are designed and produced for the printing industry and are meant to carry and transfer ink. Which is why they stamp so well. The Clear Stamps from Asia are produced from vinyl or silicone based materials. They are produced to remain perfectly clear, but are not used in any other industry for the transfer of ink. Simply, they are produced to be clear not to give you a sharp quality impression.

Q. How long do photopolymer clear stamps last?
A. Photopolymer clear stamps can and should last a life time. There is no specific life span on photopolymer clear stamps, with proper use and general cleaning and care they should last as long as traditional rubber stamps.

Q. Are there any harmful ingredients in Photopolymer Clear Stamps?
A. Photopolymer is latex free and has NO known ingredients that are harmful to you. The materials used to produce these are bio‐degradable and are also not harmful to our environment.

I want to thank Cindy for her kind help and taking care of my problem with the stamps.
She has been wonderful. Even though I bought the stamps from HSN, Crafty Secrets are really standing behind their product and doing everything possible to make things right for me. Thankyou so very very much. Customer service is 200%, you can't get any better than that!
