Default Crafts Magazine question

I just picked up the Crafts Magazine special issue titled..Holiday Cards & Wrap. On pg 83 there is a card I would like to case for my next stamp camp. Anyone have an idea how they made the background squares look like water color? Blender Pen, Aqua Painter? The supply lists only the inks and EP and VersaMark. I have figured out the stamps I need just cant figure out the ink part....it's probably something simple and I'm just not getting it.

TIA!!!

Default crafts

I haven't seen it but from your description could it be a stencil used to color in and then removed?

I do have that issue.
It looks to me like it was a stamp. Like from the old
Little Shapes that retired. Then maybe spritzed.

Kim, thats what I was thinking too...or an aqua painter tapped on the ink pad and then on the stamp....I forgot the Little Shapes set retired...I wonder if there is a current set that would have that square or similar...off to the catty...

Thanks soo much for y'alls help!!!

Glad to help. Plus it gets me looking at the magazine again as if
it is new.
