My main work table is counter height, and I mostly work standing up. But I sit for some things (like coloring). I have been using an old wooden stool that I bought an extra tie-on cushion for, but I'm thinking of replacing it with something better (more comfortable).
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This was the hardest part of my remodel and I went through and returned several before I found the right ones. I ended up with a great anti-fatigue chair from Cisco-Eagle - manufacturer is Brewer - they are for doctors, labs, etc. Very comfortable and I got two different heights because my craft table is higher than my computer desk.
That looks very good, Lydia. And the price is do-able. Is the link for the counter height one? And did you get the casters? I need to be able to push it out of the way when I don't want it.

The link should be for the range of heights I believe. I did get the casters - that adds about 3" to the height of the seat. I don't have any carpet in my house so wheels are perfect.
I don't have carpet either. This looks great. Thanks, Lydia. It's really helpful to get a suggestion from someone who has already done the research!

I would suggest typing "drafting furniture" in a search engine. Most drafting tables are counter height and use very comfortable, height adjustable chairs and have wheels. Most of the drafting stools have back rests that are adjustable as well.
I helped someone shop for furniture this summer and found that counter height tables are "in" right now so counter height chairs/stools of all kinds are available at stores right now. Not all had casters but some of them were pretty comfy and you might be able to add casters yourself.
I know I'm a little late but I got my chair at a 2nd hand store for $20 and reupholstered it. A bank donated chairs that tellers use (similar to a drafting chair). Down low it's normal desk height but it rises above counter height, it's sturdy, has castors, and a foot bar that rises with the seat. Maybe you can find something like this used too.
I am just updating anyone who is interested - I bought the chair Lydia suggested, in the higher counter-height version and it is an absolutely awesome chair! Worth every penny!
Thank you, Lydia! You saved me a whole lot of confusion and indecision.
