Default cost per card at workshops?

For those of you who attend card making workshops, stamp-a-stack classes, etc. offered by demonstrators for Stampin' Up or Close to My Heart, how much do you usually pay per card?  Are you expected to bring your own adhesive?

My SU demonstrator used to have several make-n-takes throughout the year. We usually made five projects and the cost was $10 - 15. If you made a $25 or more catalog purchase at the make-n-take, your class was free. Unfortunately she has moved to to another state so I miss out on the fun.

My SU demonstrator leader charges $ 20.00 to make 10 cards, two times per year. But with a $ 40.00 order the "Stamp camp" class is free.  I love her designs, so clever.  She also does a monthly club and makes 4-6 cards, and charges $ 25.00 for a 6 month commitment.

WOW! My demonstrator charges $25 for 6 cards. 2 each of 3. She meets 4 times a month but we each take just a class a month. We do not bring our own adhesive

There is a SU demo near me that has classes each month (2 different times but making the same cards). She charges $15.00 for 3 cards and we have to bring our own adhesive, paper cutter and scissors. I have only gone a few times and I think it's too high. She also changed the location several times which is no longer convenient in addition to the cost.
And no offer of free with purchase.

My demo charges 10.00 and we make 3 cards. She preps to an extent, Andy provides envelopes.  I bring my own scissors and adhesive because it helps her out and I don’t mind using my own

We meet once a month at our SU demo's home.  9-noon on a Saturday, 3 make and take cards for $12. and you bring your own adhesive.  She has all the materials already cut (card base, any layers cut to size, includes an envelope).  Sometimes we emboss something, or die cut using her Big Shot. She supplies all the other items: stamps, inks, pens, embellishments, etc.   She makes us a snack (usually bakes something) and we have a card punched.. after 5 classes you get the next class free, then start again with a new card punch. She has a door prize (SU items) if there are more than 5 of us.  We have an absolute wonderful time.. I look forward to it every month.

It's definitely interesting to see the variations in cost and what's offered in different areas!

We make 6 cards for $10 each month. She provides anything we need but I always take my own adhesive so we don't use up all her stuff. (She is now my best friend!)

I haven't held a class in awhile (life) but when I was doing them consistently I charged anywhere between $10 for 3 very simple cards w/envelopes, to $25 for 6-8 cards. Specialty classes (decorative object/s) ran $35 and up. I include ALL supplies but encourage class attendees to bring their own snips, bone folder, and basic adhesive just so things can move along a little quicker.
I live in the greater San Francisco Bay Area and everything is pricey here. Sales tax is higher, electricity is higher, and so on. I feel like I should charge more but I don't like robbing people so I try to keep prices as low as possible.

We used to do ten cards for $10, but that was when there was only two of us plus demo. We added three more ladies and felt that wasn't enough for all demos supplies so we dropped it to six for $10. No envelopes. We get our own. I buy a box of 250 for $11 at my LSS. The same box is $24 at the office supply store!

When I was a demo for SU and TAC (many years ago), I would charge $10 for 6 cards.  No orders were expected, but if you placed an order (any amount, I think), the workshop was free.  Prices have gone up, though, so I would have to charge more than $10 and have a minimum order for a free workshop.  I supplied all materials, but they did all the cutting and stamping themselves.

I charge $20 for 5 cards (with your own adhesive) or $25 without. Have charged this amount for a few years now and am thinking of keeping the same price but dropping the number of cards to 4.

Default Different prices for different workshops

My SU upline has a workshop/get together once a month for her demonstrators. It is histed at a different persin's house each month. The hostess provides dinner. We pay $10 to make two or three cards. She (my upline) provides all materials - stamps, paper, embellishments, etc. she tries to introduce a new technique or fold each month. We provide our own adhesives, scissors, envelopes. We are required to make a minimum purchase of $25, which is credited to the hostess as a workshop order.
She also has larger workshops four to six times a year which are open to everyone. We do six to eight project, including cards, gift items, & decor items. She provides special adhesives such as hot glue, fabric glue, etc. we bring our own wet glue, dimensionals, tearin' tape. She provides a light lunch. This workshop costs around $45-50.
Both types of meet ups are as much about the social interaction as the stamping.

LSS means local stamp store, or local scrapbook store. There is a page somewhere with all the abreviations. It took me a while to figure oute just what a "DH" was. I laughed when I saw it on the abreviation list.

Heart SU cards

I make cards with 2 SU demonstrators. Both are  once a month. It used to be 6 cards for $10, then 5 cards for $10 and now it’s 4 cards or $10. Bring you own adhesive, but all supplies and envelopes for each card is included.

The second SU demonstrator charges $2 a card. Bring your own adhesive.

In both classes, the cards include embossing, die die cutting, coloring, etc...

My Saturday one is an active SU demonstrator who now charges 4/$10.00 and pushes products very very hard.  Her mother does almost all the designng and cutting and comes us with amazing color combos and designs but it's getting to be a "paste together" class.  I bring my own scissors, adhesives, etc.  The Tuesday class is my BFF a former SU demonstrator at 5 for $10.00 using all SU products.  She does much of the cutting but we bring our own "kit".  She teaches us a new technique each month.

I just got an email from her. She is now starting a punch card - pay and attend 5 card classes and you get the 6th free. BUT - she increased the price from $15 to $18 per class and still only making 3 cards. LOL So, you are actually paying for that "free" class!

My demo charges $3/project the three years I’ve asked her to head the fall card making class I’ve organized for my coworkers, which judging by the projects she’s coming up with, she’s taking a bit of a hit. I do usually gather a decent order for her afterwards, but nothing major.

I'd love to know what part of the country this demo is in--big city in the Northeast, small town in the South...$6 a card is something I cannot even fathom.

Small town in Arkansas. Yeah, I think the same!  She is an older, retired lady.  She was with SU for several years and left for Fun Journey Stampers for about 1 1/2 years and came back to SU after FJS made a lot of changes.  She has lots of health issues and frequently has to cancel her classes.

I don't mean to sound ugly. Just that I feel that $5-6 is too much per card.  My regular demo is in Calif. and she does a monthly box which makes 8 cards, includes envelopes, 1/2 pkg of DSP, whole roll of ribbon or whole pkg of embellishments or whatever goes with the theme of the cards that month. She charges $35.00 and that includes priority shipping and tutorials for the cards.  I know another demo that does the same (guarantees at least $20 in SU products) and she is in Michigan.  Just to give the OP other options/ideas.

Thanks to those of you who mentioned the abbreviations shown on this site.  LSS....Local Stamp Store puzzled me but then when I saw what it meant I realized that no wonder I have no knowledge of that.......no local stamp stores near me!!  So disappointed that so many of the local places that seemed to thrive years ago are no longer able to make it.
Thank You!

Thank you so much for sharing details of costs / # of cards, etc. Several years ago, a local demo did workshops where we made 10 cards for $15.  I'm starting to offer card buffets now, but knew I needed to charge more to break even. With all your input, I decided to charge $2 a card and for those who place an order make 1 card free for every $15 ordered. I have had one person comment that the price seemed high, but 8 others signed up to come and thanks to everyone's input here, I now feel confident that my prices aren't outrageous.
Because where we live does affect price, I thought I'd mention I live in a rural town of 3700 people. We live a good 40 minutes away from places like Target and chain grocery stores, so we're fairly isolated.

My demo does a class for $15 or free with $35 purchase that includes 3 cards plus one non-card project. We bring our own adhesive & scissors, she has all cardstock cut & also gives envelopes. This is in the Seattle area.
