Default Conditioning & Slippage (2 questions)

In all the talk about acrylic mounted polymer stamps, a thought crossed my mind. Do you condition your stamps? Rubber can break down after many years. Do those of you that have been stamping a long time condition their stamps with Stampin' Mist or anything or do you just clean them well.

Also ~ I have stamps that are slipping off the wood. I've tried rubber cement like SU told me to, but that doesn't hold. As soon as I clean the stamps it gets gummy and slides around again. Any other suggestions? I was going to try Crazy Glue but wasn't sure what that would do to the foam.

Any suggestions?

In reply to your second question:

I use Crystal Effects to glue my stamps to the wood. Also, if the words are really little, I take off the foam and just glue the rubber right to the wood (that ends the slipping and wobbling.)

Chris ~ that brings up a great question. My I and my L from Brushstroke Alphabet are always falling off the foam. Can you just glue them straight to the wood without a problem? I would love to eliminate the wobble. Does it affect the image at all?
