Default Concave squares

I've seen lots of great samples in the gallery using all sizes of concave square paper layers. I was just wondering how ya'll make them come out so nice looking. Do you just cut them freehand or use templates or are there punches that do this? I know SU sells a small one (pg 222 in the catty), but I'm seeing much larger ones in the samples. I'd love to do this but think I couldn't make it come out a nice as you do if I just had to hand cut it out.[/url]

I'm going to try to post links to the kinds of cards I'm talking about. I've never done this before so bear with me:

Joanna--

The smaller one uses SU's concave punch. The larger one might me a template. I have one called "Make a Mat" but I don't remember where I got it.

HTH,
Julie

The larger one lists Sizzix, so maybe its a die cut.

I am so happy you asked this, I have been wondering the same thing, I asked my demo and she told me they were just free hand cuts, i made a template myself by taking a post it note and folding it in half and just cutting a bit of a half circle, when unfolded the 2 sides match, I did it again for the top..that was the only thing i could figure out to do. I traced the post it note template onto heavier cardstock and then I used the layer ease (or whatever it is called) to make larger templates...sorry I am sure that doesn't help a lot but the template turned out pretty well doing it the way I described.

How clever of you, Miss Missy! I would never have thought to do that. Thanks to all of you who responded. Now I don't have to rack my brain anymore!

I do mine free hand. I don't have a punch or sizzix so I wing it and they usually look really good. SU probably does do the samples freehand since we don't sell the sizzix.
