Default Coasters

Can someone tell me if you use a sharpie on a coaster, if you can or cannot seal them. If so, what do you use.

Thanks

I have made 6 sets of coasters so far and used sharpies to color them and did not seal any of them and not one of them has faded or run at all. Once you seal your coaster it doesnt absorb the liquid from your sweaty glass. But I suppose you could if you want too.

I bake mine at 350 for 20 minutes and then seal, after the are cool, with Krylon clear matte spray. I am probably overly paranoid though.

I've used the petal inks...heat seat in the oven for 20-30 min...and voila! you're done. I don't seal them. I've been using one at work for over a year and it still looks great.

Default where can I get these?

anyone know? I know I have seen sets of blank ones, but can't remember where. How much should I expect to pay. Any tips for me first?

I bought mine at Home Depot - Bottechini - Tumbled Tiles. I got 9 in a box for about 6.00 Cdn I think. You have to pick through the tiles though because a lot of them are too cracked and diveted to use unless that is the look you are going for. I try to find smooth ones. I just wipe them clean with a damp cloth, stamp my image on the tile with Stazon On. Colour in with whatever I feel like, I have used chalks, sharpies, pencil crayons and then I just lightly spray a sealer on them very lightly- about 5 or 6 coats. That's it! They are a huge hit - one lady came over and made 7 sets for 4 coasters each and her daughter did 10 sets of 4 coasters each. I was a spraying maniac that day - there were 7 women although the others just did a couple of sets each but went nuts on the journalling books and matching pens... What a day that was!!!(lol) Have fun!!!
