I made a very cute accordian book as a mothers day gift with a little girl that I babysat. We worked on it over several sessions. It started with a photo session with her dressed up in a couple different "princess" outfits. I then had her draw or stamp and color several different pieces of artwork that I incoorporated into the accordian book. She also stamped the backgrounds of the paper that I used. When it was time to punch holes and do brads, fibers, etc I would mark a tiny dot and give her the hand punch and she would punch the holes. She really did alot of hands on stuff and made alot of the creative decisions.
She was very proud of the finished project and her mom cried when she recieved it!
This was a five year old but could easily be done with 3 and 4 year olds.
Other ideas for projects are the pebble magnets. I have did those with 3 and up ages and it works great. You could also make color book cards for them to color in and mail to someone. If they make a gift for someone don't forget about letting them stamp paper to wrap it in and making the "to/from" tag.
Good luck and have fun!
