Today's F4A is a fun one, to just be yourself: F4A452 10/19 Just Be Yourself - Splitcoaststampers.
My problem is that I'm very eclectic, it's hard to say what's my style. If there's no MIX challenge by the time I've had lunch I'm planning tohave fun creating backgrounds, but I'll probably work ahead on upcoming challenge samples, and I need a couple of new home cards I can focus on too.

Angie, I'll probably finish the white I have on the go before I open the WOW, so it likely won't be till next year. I don't do a lot of white embossing.

I love today's F4A452 challenge....JUST BE YOU. I consider myself to be ecletic, also, Sabrina. There's so much to enjoy and love in creating different styles. I went a bit rustic today. I should have made a snowman card because that truly is my fave to make. But, I love, love making Christmas cards.

I'm quite eclectic too but my first love is Christmas cards so that's what I did for the F4A challenge.

Yes, their standard jars do seem teeny. It's probably a sensible size though, I have pots of silver, gold and copper from other manufactures that I've had for over a decade that still have loads in so a smaller pot might make more sense, especially for folk who experience shelf life issues. Hope you get along with it!

I just made a card for fun but didn't bother keywording it for the F4A since I don't have time to comment/view the gallery this evening and I'm out for the day tomorrow. And anyway the photo looked terrible after I uploaded it. It's my non-MIX card .

I guess I do use most of the clear EP...I bought a big 8oz jar of that and it's getting empty fast. But I'm definitely on at least my third jar of silver and gold.

I made one! It's got a kitten, pink, white space, Christmas, the only thing I forgot was the sequins. boo.

Sabrina, I think you should upload to the challenges even when you can't comment. It's fun for us to see. You always comment so if now and then you didn't, no biggie. I get it though if you didn't like the photograph.

Anyone up???
The Inspiration Challenge is up!

This site is loaded with all things paper!

This isn't a stamping question but while I was browsing the wrapping paper page I wondered if anyone buys wrapping paper online? Do you?

Do you ever have to buy cards because you don't have the time to make one?

I think it's quite likely that I bought Christmas wrapping paper back in the days of mail order, pre-online. And I've definitely used large sheets of decorative paper ...like heavy mulberry and so on, bought from an online craft store as emergency wrapping. I've also stamped my own quite often on brown wrapping paper, which I always have on hand.

I have bought a few cards, but mostly to keep because I liked them. Going right back to my childhood I collected cards, and while all my scrapbooks full of them didn't survive various moves, I think I still have many of the ones I bought while I was working in the UK.

I'm off for the day, just about to get up and make porridge for a good breakfast.

I have never bought wrapping paper online, Angie. I have tons of Christmas wrapping paper and gave one of my sons a plastic tub full a week or so ago. I have started using a lot of Christmas bags....kind of have a love affair with those. I tell my hubby to not let me buy another one. HA There are so many cute and beautiful ones.

Unfortunately, I have bought 4 cards this week because I couldn't get enough made. Ugh!!! I need to make two today and will see if that happens.

Love the Current Catalog IC site today...plenty to be inspired by there.

I haven't bought a card since 2009! I figured I spent way too much money on supplies so I had better use them! LOL

Lydia, that is a cool idea! Last year a friend gave me a card with a solid pink background and a pair of fancy black shoes with gems on them. A small happy birthday sentiment directly beneath the shoes. VERY CAS as the shoes are small. I love it and keep thinking of trying something similar with a small stamp sometime soon!

Pre-stamping, I ussed to order from Current regularly, especially in the '80's and '90's. I bought wrapping paper, greetng cards, recipe cards, what have you. Now it is very rare for me to buy cards. Like Sabrina, Once in awhile I buy them just because I love them and want them to keep, or I find a particular funny card that I buy in duplicate to send to my two besties since elementary school! As for wrapping paper, I usually buy it on clearance after holidays or buy bags, also on clearance. I do keep rolls of white and kraft paper that I can use to stamp my own, or just use it plain with a gorgeous bow.

I was teaching a card making class here Friday so had no time for the F4A and haven't had time to do the IC, either, but am off to make a card for the FS

I have a technique question. Do we have an acrylic block stamping tutorial? I was wondering if perhaps it has a different title? Just want to make sure my card goes into the technique gallery if we have one.

It's hard to keep up with the challenges! This morning I made and posted a card for the Inspiration Challenge - love that website! I could make several cards inspired by it! In fact I might do that instead of doing tomorrow's CAS challenge as I really need to work on Christmas cards and I don't know any Christmas Knock Knock jokes.

Duh .... I should'a had a V-8! I generally remember jokes only when someone tells one I've heard before. Have asked searches for a zillion topics ... and will need to add "knock knock jokes" today! Thank you, Misti!

The Technique challenge is Simple Self-framing. Easy peasy but beautiful effect. Make sure to catch Sabrina's tip because it would be super easy to adhere one of the layers the wrong way. Both of today's challenges work together well for combining. The CAS challenge is going to brighten our day as we read the silly jokes and see how the participants interpret the joke with art!

Did you create this weekend? If so was it CAS, Clean Layers, Shabby, Mixed Media or something else?

I can't tell you how many times, as I was taking the step by step pictures, I told myself not to make that mistake. And then of course I just started in stamping the next day and totally forgot . But, unlike one of my attempts at triple stamping, I bet nobody would notice all those itty little leaves not quite matching.

All I got made over the weekend was a pieced new home card. We were out the full day Saturday, and then I was tired on Sunday. I guess the card is what I used to call Scrapbook style...And I raided my pizza box of scrap DP for it. Always surprises me how few scraps I have in the colours I need when I go looking for them . Then, today was housework day and after that I went to bed with a headache, so ain't anything going to be happening at my desk till tomorrow.

You have a housework day, too? I spend Mondays cleaning and doing laundry. I like to tackle it and get it over with for the week. My friends are stumped by how I can do it in one day. Well, my three daughters do their own laundry, and we live in a tiny one-story home that I can clean top to bottom in four hours.

I took a "vacation" last week and stamped every day, playing in most of the challenges. I am a SAHM so when I say vacation, I mean I didn't clean or leave my house lol. My husband took one from his job a few weeks ago and it hit me last week that I should take one, too! Everyone still got fed, though - I enjoy cooking!

The challenges were so fun! I want to play in today's but no vacation this week, so it is back to cleaning and laundry. But I will have fun later looking at what everyone creates and who knows, maybe I will stamp!

Cleaning day here too! I thought I was going to have a meeting at my house this afternoon but we had to cancel due to unexpected events for two of the ladies. I still worked all day doing some deep cleaning. Still, need to wash floors but I am thinking that will be for another day. I can only do so much at a time before my back says NO MORE.

Nicole, I LOVE it that you gave yourself a vacation! That is such a great idea!

Sabrina, your card is darling!! Your paper piecing is so fun and whimsical! Terrific card! I too have a DP scrap box, I don't know why, since I never find what I need! Also, I agree, no one would ever know that you adhered the inner panel upside down if you hadn't mentioned it but it was nice of you to do so, you might have saved someone some heartache. ME for sure when I get to try it! So sorry you have a headache. I hope you feel better in the morning.

Mondays for me too! Gets everything tidied up after the weekend, and the house will stay clean all week and still be presentable come the weekend. I like it when I get rostered off on Monday...then I'm done by lunch and the afternoon is mine. But if I was working, like today, it's straight home and into the cleaning. Your staycation last week sounds lovely. I like an occasional day when I never even unlock the front door. I like cooking too .
In the summer I might get a card made before work on Monday, but it's starting to be too cold and dark in my attic space now.

Today's TPT challenge is sending thanks to a small animal rescue transport company who came up trumps during Florence and helped rescue another broken down animal transport: MMTPT535 That's All, Folks!
Brought back memories of our childhood holidays. Usually one or both of my older half-siblings were at home to look after the cats who didn't come with us (only one really liked long-distance travel) and the birds and whatever other small fry, but the dogs always came along. We had a trailer for the car, and the dogs had crates on the trailer. There are so many old cine films showing the car and trailer pulling out the gate and down the road...then my dad would take over the driving .

And here's the colour combination challenge for this week: CC710 A Pink Pear Plays Calypso (10-23-18 )

I agree!!!! I love the "community" part of SCS as much as I enjoy having a gallery to post all my cards.

All right splitcoasters, even if you don't have any time to create a card I encourage you to head over to the teapot challenge (linked in comment #270) and read the story. I blinked back tears, the good kind! Just so sweet to know how much kindness is out there!

Have you ever rescued a pet only to find that actually, they rescued you?

My husband and I have had cats on and off all of our married life and they have all been rescues. Both of our current cats picked us. Lil Bit's mother brought her to us along with 4 siblings. Then mama cat took the 4 siblings and went home, leaving us with Lil Bit! Storm hollered at me from under my car on a rainy February night. I already had two cats so I was determined not to take on three. Ha. You will not deny a black cat anything especially your heart and home!

Love today's Teapot challenge. I've got a card started that fits. Hopefully I can get inspired and get it completed.

All our dogs have been rescues. DH agreed to take a Doberman/Shepherd mix back in the 90s who terrified me initially. But Nic turned out to be the sweetest, loving and grateful dog. DH is normally the culprit in bringing home rescues and responsible for all three of the dogs and two of the cats in our 44 years together. The latest additions are on me, 3 1/2 month old kittens from the Humane Society.

What do you see when you look at this week's sketch? Would you use lots of layers and pop them up or would you find a way to make it look as clean as possible? Misti has used layers but with the white background and only the candy cane pattern on one of the layers, it has a very clean look to it. Annette has drawn in her layers keeping the background all one piece. Ally has popped up her layers but kept them all the same color. Faith added layers and mats. How about you?

I have no time to stamp this week so these challenges right now are like a kid looking through the huge Christmas catalogs, making his wish list - dreaming big, holding nothing back, while still knowing the reality is he'll get a handful of items from his list and he'll still be thrilled!

So, I'll "dream" my card for the Sketch challenge. Angie, I would have lots and lots of layers! A heavy card is a happy card . And since I am in fall mode, I would have a "pile" of leaves, and gold edges, and frayed burlap ribbon and twine.

I love seeing everyone's different styles and am so very thankful for the Favorites folder. It allows me to CASE styles that others successfully nail!

I see a macro shot of herringbone design when I look at the sketch, so if I were doing it, it would be one layer for all those strips using three different patterned papers, and then one panel with an image for the rectangle. But I think I'll just be finishing off two cards I started yesterday and count myself happy if I get them done.

Nicole, I think dreaming is good!!! I look at the challenges even when I can't play too and while I am unable to do the challenge, I think about it. Daydreaming is good for us! You painted such a good pic of your card I can practically see and feel it!

Sabrina, yours sounds pretty. I can't wait to see the finished results of what you have already started. I haven't gotten to the art part of my day yet and have not daydreamed about what is next on the stamping agenda.
