Oh, I hate that. I do it more often with Stickles but at least if you're quick you can scrape that off and it barely shows. I was using Crystal Drops yesterday and made sure to put the piece well out of my way till it was dry.

I once thought my drops were dry and laid something on top and they had flattened! I also once ran a panel through the big shot and flattened some, but I'm not sure if that was dried drops or pearls. I'd have to look through my gallery to refresh my memory!

Hello, hello!!! It's Sunday and that means today is one of my favorite challenges, the Featured Stamper. I love the featured stamper because CASEing a card and sharing it in our galleries is so much fun for the honored stamper! I was once Queen for the Day which was a similar challenge and I loved looking at the cards that were created from mine! It was such a fun week so I encourage you if you have a little time go play the Featured Stamper challenge! I did with a cute little fox!

When you CASE someone's card what is it about the card that makes you want to CASE it? Is it the layout, colors, or images?

Have a great Sunday!

When I CASE a card, its the whole card that catches my eye, but I am especially drawn to something if the original cardmaker used a product i have. I am hard pressed for ideas of my own so sometimes my case is almost exactly like the original. But I always give credit where it is due. I don't case to pretend it was my idea, I case because I found something magnificent to copy!

Lyn has a fun cloudy stormy sky up for the TLC: TLC712 ~ Cloudy Halloween Sky ~ (10/15/1 - Splitcoaststampers.. I bet it would work with regular distress too: this videophobe had to watch to see what inks were used; the video shows DOX. I preferred the soft look before the white pen details went in, so I'll probably stop there. And it probably won't be till tomorrow as housework today includes stuff like changing the filter in the cooker hood, oh joy.

Both challenges look fabulous!! The technique looks like great fun!

I went to bed thinking about my large sentiments and if I have a stencil that would look good with one of them for the CAS challenge.

I am with Sabrina though. I have so much to do before I have any ink time!

I've been having fun catching up on a few of the challenges I missed while away. And today's Stencil CAS challenge is a must-do as I love stencils! But grocery shopping first!

I got my cloudy sky finished too late to photograph - that's tomorrow's job. For some reason I couldn't get my darned steam cleaner going properly, so that delayed the housework somewhat. I don't celebrate Halloween so at the moment my bat is stuck on with repositionable glue dot as the card would still be complete without him.

Ditto!! My Texas spot is well beyond saturated, so if drops are falling, DH's car & wood shop man-cave is flooding, as it's a downhill ride for any rain. My forearms are weaklings, so pushing out water feels monumental, but necessary. Hoping for some true stamping time starting Wednesday. My 'need-to-send' list grew today. Yikes

Y'all stay warm out there ... it is NOT doing that here. hhmmmphh

Hello everyone! Today's Color Challenge colors are perfect for creating unique Fall cards!! Today's Tea Pot challenge is partnering with Cards for a Cause and we will be sending our cards to the Card Care Connection. You get imaginary extra cookies for the teapot challenge if you emboss. Do you prefer heat embossing or dry embossing?

I love the way you come up with questions which make me think. The first week left me wondering what on earth creative process I follow, though. I like dry embossing, especially paired with some sponging as in the faux patina tutorial, but I definitely prefer heat embossing and would probably do more of it if I ever invest in a better/cooler heat gun. For the last twenty-five years ( I know for sure, because it's coming up to the 25th anniversary of The Knitting and Stitching Show, which is where I first saw it demoed, I've been making do with one from the DIY store. Over-enthusiasm can lead to scorching .

Sabrina, I am glad the questions are interesting! I hope you get to indulge in a better heat gun at some point!

Kathy, that is cute!! Made me smile!

I LOVE seeing dry embossing on other people's cards! I don't do it very often for myself. I use heat embossing more than dry but I don't use either all that often. I think I would use heat more often if I had better quality powder. I would like a true white and a shiny gold. I think I might have a shiny silver. I struggle with getting tiny dots of powder on my paper which annoys me, even though I use an embossing buddy and a paintbrush AND I flick the paper!

If you ever find a true white, tell me! I really like the split negative technique but at this stage I have tried five different white embossing powders and none of them really match my cardstock, so it doesn't ever look right.. I have a new one to try when I finish my current one. My gold is good and shiny, but it will have to wait till tomorrow to tell you what brand. It's either Ranger's or Stampendous.

Default This card won!

This card that I worked so hard on and it took a long time, won the top 3 in the Mod Squad Challenge.
They get pinned when your card wins. Just thought I would share.

I love sketches with large open spaces. When there is a large white space for the background do you like to keep the layer solid cardstock, emboss it, use patterned paper or create your own patterned paper?

It's early yet but so far in the sketch gallery, I only see one card with a solid bg, 4 embossed, 5 with patterned paper and 3 stamped backgrounds. Not scientific but the patterned paper closely followed by embossed has it at the moment.

I like to use patterned paper when I can because I have way too much stacked up in here but I often think the card looks best with a simple solid background. I don't always keep it solid because I think it might feel boring but I actually like it best that way most of the time!

One of us came up with the idea of posting our wish list in our private chat group so that we can buy one another things they really like! When we see a great sale it's helpful to have a list.

Did you do the Clean and Simple challenge this week. You had to use a stencil but NO stamped images or die cut images. Just a sentiment. It was quite a challenge.

Here is what I came up with: Stencil Monoprint by howdyheidi - at Splitcoaststampers

I still need to look through and comment on the other entries.

It depends on how much time I have... my dp isn’t sorted in a way that is easy to go through (I’m working on that.) Pulling out an embossing folder is a whole lot easier. In this season, I spend 7 hours away from home 4 -5 days a week with the boys for archery practice/training. The boys & I have a challenge going...they have a new thing they are adding to their training so they are trying to get into the habit, they are trying to go 30 days straight & I’m making a new card & blogging it for 30 days straight. I need to do a 30 card challenge using dp.

...

That in bold, that's because you really rock CAS designs. I would tend to fill that space with my own created background. Id' find it hard to leave it plain. When I had time to play regularly in all the daily challenges, I found the sketch ones great for using up paper. But, I do think that the sketches have evolved over the years, and many of the more recent ones are less suitable for paper. It's interesting looking through the library of sketches and seeing how they changed through the years.

Toni's WT challenge this week is all about twine: WT710 - All Tied Up - (10/18/18 ) - Splitcoaststampers. I knew I wanted to try the twine inlay. I think it was a TLC during the time I was perpetually exhausted from visiting my dad and didn't always keep up even with the TLC. I must have used more bakers twine than I thought over the years because I couldn't find some colours I was sure I had. I have two nice tidied ribbon boxes to show for it .

Sabrina, the twine inlay was something I learned right here from SCS and turned out to be one of my favorite techniques! Sample I made is here: You TWINE me up! by MiamiKel4 - at Splitcoaststampers

I do want to try Sprielli though!

Well, that I think I can get from the UK. InkOn would be crazy shipping and there doesn't appear to be a European distributor. $14 shipping for two jars, $22 for 3 is not feasible for me.

It’s the whitest I’ve found, too. I’d love it to be just a smidge finer grained but it’s pretty good.

I think it’s a UK brand, isn’t it? If you have any problems give me a shout Sabrina, we’ll figure out a way to cross the Irish Sea

Well - I checked my box of embossing powders and that is the very one I have lined up to try next. I must have got it in Cork when I went down to visit my sister while DH was away in August. There are better craft shops there than in Dublin. And one of them has a loyalty card which I've already managed to fill up once. But it's a tiny jar, only 15ml. Is that the normal size they do? IT says Bright White Super Fine.
