Oohhh Ahh! The Color trio for the COLOR Challenge this week is yummy!

This week's Teapot Challenge is Halloween themed for a 14 year old boy who could use a lift.

This week's Sketch is up and has a very interesting square element.

WT762 is to use speech bubbles!

Do you have speech bubble dies or stamps? Do you use them very often?

I think speech bubble cards are so cute and I have dies but I rarely use them. Maybe I will get to play along later! How about you?

This is one super-crazy busy week, but since I'm actually at my desk for an hour this evening, I'll reply to this. I've always liked speech bubbles, I have an October Afternoon set for years with one that used to be all I had, and sometimes I had to mirror stamp it to get it facing the right way. Now I have the SU speech bubble die set, which is a good variety of shapes - and some time last year I bought the Purple Onion stamps which I used on my card today. They stamp so crisply, and I like the look of the reversed font, white on a black background.

I am hosting this week's Free 4 All challenge, I hope you will join us! We are creating winter encouragment cards. So pull out your snowy backgrounds, cute critters, warm winter mugs etc and add an encouraging sentiment. You will be so glad to have an encouragement card ready to go during the busyness of the holidays.

Hi friends!

I just got back from my annual Lay Dominican retreat. It was a wonderful day, but I am exhausted! My hope is that the fruits of contemplation will spark creativity, because I haven't stamped much.

But first, I nap! LOL

I saw dates for Falliday Fest posted. But I wanted to give a heads up about the upcoming VSN. We're still looking for hostesses. Hint hint.

The Teapot Tuesday challenge is Showers of Flowers for a friend of Precious Kitty's, who is waiting for an organ transplant. That's a hard thing to go through - especially when you might get called and then still not be the best match so you go home and go on waiting. I hope she'll enjoy her floral shower.

MMTPT587~October 22,2019 Showers of Flowers - Splitcoaststampers

The colour challenge has some lovely autumnal colours, but had me at merlot, since I know there is a bottle of wine on the table in the kitchen!

CC762 Glass of Merlot with a Cajun Delight (10-22-19) - Splitcoaststampers

Have a super time away, Angie. I'll try to pop in and post links when I can, and maybe even ask a question or two.

So for starters - if you're a wine drinker, what's your favourite? I like rich fruity reds without too much tannin, and tend to buy French mostly, with some Spanish and Italian thrown into the mix.

I don't know much at all about wines. Drank the cheap stuff in my youth, but haven't had a drink since. Well, the doctor told me to drink a glass each night to see if it would help lower my cholesterol. Since I had no clue what to get, a friend tried to help. I just didn't like the taste of any she gave me. So I have stayed on the meds. None of them were sweet enough for me. All too bitter. Now, if it tasted like grape juice, i'd be fine!

Ha! Kathy, my thoughts exactly! Why would I drink wine when I could drink grape juice instead?

We have a friend who got rid of all the drink in his home and went teetotal after someone who had been visiting him and had a couple of drinks in his house was involved in a bad accident after leaving the house. But a few years later his doctor advised him to drink red wine for his cholesterol - and it has worked: twenty-something years later his cholesterol is still ok without any other medication.

The only wine I like is muscato because it’s sweet... but most of the time I’d rather eat my calories than drink them.

Today's sketch has a fun border with multiple overlapping elements, leaves in the sketch, but your choice to sub: Sketch Challenge 772 {10/23/19} - Splitcoaststampers

Back to yesterday and moving from merlot to Cajun, do you like spicy? Do you have a favourite spice mix? We cook a lot of Indian and vegetarian so I have a well-filled cupboard and would find it hard to pick a favourite. Maybe ras el hanout, though it's so specific I don't often use it. I still make Misti's enchilada casserole recipe, and always end up having to make my own seasoning for it as that's not something I ever have on hand, or have even seen here (maybe I haven't looked in the right places!). I usually make my own fajita seasoning too, for a wraps with roasted sweet potatoes, onions and bell peppers, with feta cheese.

Love my dry reds but with Indian I prefer a cold beer. I have a problem in my house since 2 of us love spicy heat and two abhor it. I make my own spice mixes for Indian (or Thai) since I have to adapt to the family's tastes. Love the sketch this week and hope to get a chance to do a little crafting soon. Tomorrow my two stamping/scrapping buddies and I are on a road trip to get some crafty pre-Christmas dies and stamps at Ecstasy Crafts in Shannonville ON.

There's a great F4A from Dawn, crimped or corrugated: F4A505...Crimped or Corrugated?? 10/25/2019 - Splitcoaststampers

I don't get takeout coffee so the only fine corrugated card I have is purchased, but I like the look. I do love my crimper. I think the first one I bought was a dud, I never could understand how people got such great effects with theirs. Then one year I used part of my Moddy Christmas (remember you can support all the many site volunteers by clicking through the link on the SCS home page when you shop at Amazon.com) gift to buy another one and I've never regretted it.

Someone who always inspires me with her use of corrugated card is Nancy Williams.

No MIX yet.

And Dina's MIX challenge is a splat background technique, which looks very cool but way outside my style zone. Thinking about possibilities as I travel home from work.

Sorry, for some reason the link isn't formatting, and I don't usually get to the PC till after lunch on Sunday, if at all.

It's a holiday weekend here, and the weather is getting much colder, a real chill in the air.

Lee's CAS challenge, Halloween with purple: CAS557 Happy Colorful Halloween!

I even have an idea for this one, suitably CAS, though not spooky. If I don't get sidetracked into a gel plate session on my holiday Monday, and if I can think of a use for it, I might even make it.

It does need a little time to allow for drying . I like early challenge posts because I can often get something started before work if drying time is required.

Today's sketch has circles in it : Sketch Challenge 773 {10/30/2019} - Splitcoaststampers

I think circles were the first dies I bought, because they were so hard to cut by hand. I did a lot of disguising the edges with Liquid Pearls. And my next ones were Spellbinders tags, for sentiments. Can you remember the first die you bought? Or the most recent? My most recent order included the watch I used on my Live in the Moment card last Thursday.

Here's Carla's WTUI challenge today. I wish I had thought of using the illusion with embossing technique, that one when you stamp on the embossing folder so that your image only shows in the debossed part.

Welcome back, Angie. I am glad you had such a good trip.
I had a crazy work week so I'm not even sure that I'll try to play catch-up with the MIX from yesterday, except that I do need Christmas cards. I didn't even get a chance to look at the forum till late afternoon yesterday, and I only went up to my attic to get a DVD to watch in bed.

We had a beautiful sharp frost last Monday. I'd have loved to go for a walk in it, but it was a holiday here and stores were open Sunday hours, and in case DH didn't find a missing tool for his biycle, I had to wait till that store would be open. By then all the winter beauty was gone. He did find the tool, he rang me just as I was leaving LIDL, which I had visited first. Now it's turned very very mild...and rainy. Not tempting for a walk at all.

I did have a fabulous time now I am struggling to get grounded back at home! I have a stye which is causing me all sorts of difficulties with my vision. I just pulled my dryer apart and my daughter is coming home specifically to wash and dry her clothes! (and to watch a classic movie with her mom of course) Oh dear. I need my mechanical husband's opinion before I put it back together so ..... he is not going to be thrilled with me when I need his help stat! haha!

Sabrina, speaking of frost I have a funny story. I went out to my car this morning and put my pretend Yeti cup on the top of the car and I watched the cup slowly slide down the top of the car and tumble over the windshield! I had a sheet of ice on the top of the car! Number 1) I did not realize that there was ice on there and number 2) this is the first winter I have had this vehicle and I didn't know it sloped! It was the funniest thing to watch. My hands were full so I tried to catch it but it was faster than me and just slid right off! Ha!

And speaking of ice this background I created at UNWIND makes me think of chunky pieces of colorful ice!

Just for fun link us to one of your favorite ICY projects!

Sorry about the dryer problems. I need to call someone out for our washer, as it always seems to start into the rinse cycle with no problems, but after I stop watching it, it goes back to the wash, grrr. So I have to trust it's washed again enough to be rinsed, and manually advance it to spin.

Your background is wow, just so beautiful. You'll have to do something minimal so it doesn't get covered up.

Since you ask about icy projects, I'd been remembering this card and thinking of making something similar: CCEE1335 A Cracked Christmas

The colors in that background are gorgeous Angie, Ooh Sabrina I love how cute and card is, I think every time I do cracked glass I tend to go serious and not cute so, that has sparked a thought.

The Featured Stamper is up.

I feel like I have not gotten to play in forever so, I am really glad this is Sunday. ( the puppy jumped on the side of the bed at a little before 5... well, what would have been 4, it's upland bird game season here and she has not figured out that dad only takes them hunting on Saturday mornings haha)
