Steve listens to a wide array of podcasts including true crime, on his way home from work (45 min drive). He comes home and tells me about the ones with stupid criminals.

True Sabrina, I rarely took full-length photos of the trees unless they were gnarly and twisted from growing in harsh winds on tops of tops of rocky cliffs. They always fascinated me!

Kathy, have you posted the card? I will want to check it out!

Do you enjoy creating cards featuring animals? What is your favorite animal to feature?

I love all things cat! I love to look at cards with cats and I love to feature them.

I might have a slight addiction to House Mouse stamps. I also like Penny Black critters. I also like the bunny from The Cat’s Pajamas. I haven’t branched out to many other companies.

I didn't put it in my gallery. Wasn't crazy about it. I only put a picture in the alpha challenge thread to show friends.

So, yesterday I made several cards using long-retired SU dsp. Autumn Meadows. This stuff has "really rust" and "taken with teal" in it! I have one untouched 12x12 sheet still, but had several small pieces and even a few die cut leaves and coordinating card bases with the package. I am going to finish this stuff off today!

Then, two other almost-finished dsp packs. #CraftyGoals

And for the TLC Judy is asking us to incorporate scratch paper from our desks into our project. Which is quite funny, really, because I have a piece from my spray box sitting on my desk which I very very nearly used yesterday till I decided to use my favourite gel print from Thursday's session instead.

But the last time I thought I'd make a "quick card" for the TLC it wasn't so quick and I've learned my lesson... housework first. And that's after I get home.

Sabrina, I need to work on that lesson of housework first. Only thing is, I get so tired from house cleaning I have no energy for creating. LOL

Yay! Thank you so much to Misti and Sabrina for linking the challenges!!!

I think today's challenges will combine beautifully!

Ever since Julie's challenge with the scratch paper technique, I have been looking at my scratch paper differently. I hope to play later..........after exercise, house cleaning, study group and reading material for a class I am teaching.

So who here is from Canada?
Happy Thanksgiving to you!!!

If you make a card with scrap paper let us know! We want to see what you create!

I'm doing the housework by degrees today - but I did detour after work to try to find knitting needles for my current project. No go - I'll have to go in to town tomorrow. Also trying to find a USB C cable which vanished one morning, so I have wasted time tidying places it might have fallen into.

I was going to use this for my card - but ended up using the back, because the splashes of colour on the back made me think of poppies and set me creating a garden. So this is still on my desk...I think it bothers me that half of one star is missing.

Today's colors for the Color Challenge put me in mind of a Christmas card but they would be pretty together on any project!

For today's Tea Pot Challenge we are to make funny cards!

What is one of your favorite humorous stamp? If you have a funny card in your gallery link it up and let us check it out!

THIS made me laugh so hard when I first read the stamp. It's just sort of unexpected! If I get time to play the teapot challenge I think I will use it, I have only used it the one time. It really deserves more action!

The sketch looks like a lot of fun today! Two cute circles and a large border in the lower portion of the card!

It's Wednesday! Have you had crafty time this week? Do you carve out a chunk of time to create or do you jump in and create just a few minutes at a time?

I love to have chunks of time but it isn't always an option. This week I have been creating in little bursts of time. I quickly created the backgrounds below in the few minutes I had while making lasagne to bring to my Tuesday night meeting. The Cling Wrap technique is a good one to do when you only have a few minutes because it requires drying time so if you have to leave your art space after inking and cling wrap you will not be tempted to remove the cling wrap too soon! This morning I stamped a sentiment on the pastel background while I was on hold with the doctor's office.

What have you created so far this week and did you have a chunk of time or only a few minutes?

Thanks Angie! I made a second, but haven't finished it yet. I also need to get a 4" ring, since I only had 3".

I've been crafting in little bursts of time lately... although, it seems like I've been more productive with those little bursts that I am when I have several hours.

I’m still away on vacation but head home tomorrow and am looking forward to getting back into my card making - Christmas is fast approaching! But I have been knitting while away so not totally craft-deprived.

In answer to your question, Angie, about chunks of time vs short bursts - I find short bursts way too fristrating as once I get going, I just want to keep going, so I definitely carve out chunks of time (and don’t manage to do them every day as I’m busy with other things. Occasionally I’ll use a tiny window of time to stamp a couple of images to colour later on or make a quick background, especially one that has to dry.

I finally got some time yesterday to do the Teapot challenge and make a card combining the sketch and this week's colors. I need to have a decent amount if time to be productive - short amounts of time in the craft room just frustrate me because once I get going I don't like to stop!

Angie, that "wind in the hair" sentiment cracks me uo!

Thursday's are a rush for me so I am just getting home. I didn't get a chance to link today's Ways To Use It challenge. Has anyone had the chance to play? Sabrina is asking us to create our own collage by using at least 4 stamps. This is something that doesn't come naturally to me so I would really like to participate in this challenge. It's good to experiment with techniques that are out of our comfort zones! We never know when something might become our new "go-to" technique!

Do you collage???

I love this thread Angie, thanks so much. When everyone has finished having fun with Sabrina's challenge and before you put all your stamps away, how about making a card for the MISTI monthly challenge.

Our lovely Platinum Partners, My Sweet Petunia, have a challenge each month. The details are here. MISTI Monday October 2018 Challenge - Splitcoaststampers

That is awesome Susie! Thanks for linking. I love having a place where we can be reminded of all the different challenges at SCS!!! There is something for everyone!

Misti, I can't wait to check out your card. I ended up going straight to my room for a nap. I hate napping but I am on allergy med to hopefully end my current spell of dizziness and it is wiping me out! Course hearing the wind howl and the rains at 12:30 wasn't conducive to great sleep either!

I got home from two weeks vacation last night so sadly my day will be spent doing laundry, grocery shopping, going through mail, etc. Maybe tonight I’ll get a card made for one of the challenges I missed while away.

Angie, I took a peek at this week’s Inspiration Gallery. I’m going to blame you & Sabrina if I can’t get my mind to turn off!! I have 6 picked out, now to (hopefully) sleep on it & stamp in the morning.

Misti isn't that site amazing? I hope you slept and wake up with brilliant card ideas!

****

I seriously want to buy presents from there! LOL You can tell I had a hard time because I chose 15 thumbnails to inspire!!! Bags with art inspired by the "Sisters" number from White Christmas, of all things! Sherlock, The Office, Dr. Who, abstract art, cats, Christmas, and sooooo much more!

We are headed to Redbubble for the Inspiration Challenge today. Who is going to play?

When you choose a photo inspiration are you drawn to abstract art or detailed images?

Sorry I've been MIA from the chat here...DH and I had a holiday day out on Wednesday and I was chasing my tail to keep up ever since. Thank goodness it's the weekend!

I'm like Claudia, I like a chunk of time to create. Although if there's a very inspiring challenge posted early, I might grab half an hour to make a start before work. Then even if I'm tired when I get home, I can still achieve something And events like VSN and DTGD taught me that I don't need a lot of time. I suppose it depends on whether I am setting out to make a card I need, or just sitting down to have fun and enjoy myself.

The first time I was faced with a stamped collage background it was way out of my comfort zone too . I love that I am still learning and growing though the challenges.

Misti, you only saved six Hope you had (by the time you see this) sweet dreams full of inspiration.

What a site!!! As I was looking at the amazing images, I was thinking about individual Splitcoasties and thinking how much their style would fit particular designs. This site could cost me some serious money LOL.

I started on a collage on Thursday, and didn't like it. Then I began again on Friday, still it wasn't working. Had to start over and finally was happy. I needed to begin with a mask of the pumpkin, first, then it all went together. Here is my card: WT709 Collage with Pumpkin by lovinpaper - at Splitcoaststampers

Have to say, I am still enjoying reading this thread.

Jumpin' Jiminy, Ladies!!! You've been chatting up a girly storm, and I was just thinking about popping by for a peek! Here's a teeny chatter for now ...
  • Misti, I tried (CAS), but after the 3rd day I just needed to 'move on'. Some plans are diamonds, but that one was not.
  • Tuesdays are a bust here, so, next!
  • Loved this week's Sketch! (but on this day my CAS start-over -n-over met it's deserved circular file fate.)
  • I never send Halloween cards, but I'm itching to ink old Boo stuff up.
  • Ohhhh ... collage is not in my happy place ... I don't actually speak it out loud.
  • It's rainy, cooling big time, gray .... perfect for stamping, even if I don't commit to a challenge this time.
  • Well ... for the moment, I cannot escape the limits of the bullet list. Happy Saturday, y'all!
