We got to pick my son up from the airport yesterday...

He's asleep right now so, I had a chance to play catch up peeking at the IC gallery this morning. but, I have a feeling this is how my week will go and I will be seeing things in small batches while he is home.

( I need mothers day cards still though so, I am hoping to see something with flowers in the FS gallery today.) (nope, I have not seen that thread yet, I figured I would peek in here first)

Well, I know it's the end of the day but that doesn't mean our daily challenge comes to an end! The great thing about an SCS challenge is that it never closes!

Patsy Waggoner is our Featured Stamper this week. I took a quick peek at her gallery and it's lovely! I hope you will take a look and play along!

Today's TLC is watercolor powders.

Let's discuss!

Do you have watercolor powders?

Which one(s) do you have? If you have used more than one brand which one is your favorite?

What is your favorite technique to use?

I have Brushos. I would love to try Ken Oliver Color Burst Powders.
I used Dina's technique on THIS card recently. It was fun and I would love to try it again but the technique I used the most is to simply make backgrounds by sprinkling it on paper and spritzing with water.

Your Turn!

I bought the powders stampin up had. I think they were brushos. Don't use them often because its very easy to drop a stray piece of powder and then get ink on my clothes from it!

Yesterday was a holiday here so I never got to check in on this thread. I have Brushos and Bisters. I like the earthier colour palette of the Bisters but they're in a separate box so I don't pull them out as often. I always think other people's sprinkle and spritz backgrounds look better than mine ...my favourite way of using them is for cling-wrap backgrounds with spray starch. And I like using them with glass bead gel. And for dying seam binding. I like the stamping technique Dina showed (might be a separate tutorial) of sprinkling the paper with powders and stamping with a wet stamp, but it's a bit slow and I don't often have the time.
Brusho have a new product called Sprinkle It which is lovely to add a little sparkle, but hard to photograph. You can see a hint of it on this: Lanterns and Wishes by Cook22 - at Splitcoaststampers. I must not have used the other background I made yet, or else not uploaded the card.

Today's Teapot Tuesday is a 50th wedding anniversary celebration.

Oh, wow Sabrina, I like the idea of sprinkling on some sparkle!

I really enjoyed Dina's powder technique. Here is my card I created with the technique. I forgot to link it yesterday. Thankful for You

I have Brusho and am still hoping to squeeze in some time this week to do yesterday's challenge. I mainly have made the sprinkle and spritz backgrounds with my powders but I want to try them with stencils. Thanks for the heads up about the sparkly powder, Sabrina - that sounds like fun!
I love today's color challenge choice, too - love those shades of green and pink. It will have to wait though - off to my dad's to do more sorting and cleaning out; today I have a dear friend helping me, though, so it won't feel so daunting. Happy stamping, everyone!

No play time for me today. Well, lots of time....just sick and don't feel up to anything. I went to The doctor yesterday but he took a wait it out approach! Of course he's not the one who feels horrible. I coughed all night and temp was 102° . I'm in bed right now, just checking in but drifting in and out....sorry to complain, but

Oops. Drifted off again!

Sniff. I don't have any watercolor powders.
I've looked for them in the stores and just can't find them. I've looked online, but they seem to expensive for something I would rarely use. I'm pretty confident that I wouldn't use them on account of I don't like the unexpected and I don't like to wait for things to dry. Thus ends my streak of every single daily challenge this year (plus all the VSN challenges). I've been defeated by watercolor powders.

Do you have watercolour pencils Jen? Just use a sanding block or a bit of fine grit sandpaper on the tip to get a sprinkle of colour if so, that would make a decent substitute and allow you to keep your record unbroken! Come to think of it, Dina has a sanded pencil tutorial, hang on while I find it. Sanded Pencil Background Tutorial - Splitcoaststampers

Aw, Jen! I remember all the times I didn't have stuff for TLC's way back, and there are still some that throw me a curve ball and I need to improvise.

I love the tutorial that Joanne linked, it's one of my go-to backgrounds - and I must remember to get my sanding block back from DH who borrowed it.

Hope you're feeling a bit better today, Kathy.

It looks as if my link for the sketch challenge will work, yay. I couldn't access the TLC from Judy's notification post Monday, just got the dread error message .

Sniffles and a runny nose overnight so I think all I'm hoping for today is to finish a birthday card for one of my nephew's.

So very sorry Kathy. I think more and more the doctor's are taking that aproach. I guess they have over perscribed antibiotics? My husband has been to the doctor twice, he's been sick for two weeks. Hope you feel better soon.

Your friend,

I couldn't take it any longer and called the doc. He called the antibiotic in and I took the first one at noon. I hope it kicks in quickly. I don't remember ever feeling this bad. My heart wants to craft but my body wants sleep. So I'm in bed now.

I hope it's not the flu and that the antibiotics will help you, Kathy.

Toni's WT challenge today is about using question marks. I'll try a link here but the ones I put in my gallery uploads gave the error message.

Well, i am out of bed! That's an improvement. I'm still coughing when I talk, so I try not to talk. My ears are still ringing, but that actually started before this hit.

Dina's MIX challenge is using the spotlight technique...which will require a little thought to make it mixed media...I'm thinking maybe a little chalk stencilling over the spotlight area.
MIX328 - In the Spotlight (5/10/19) - Splitcoaststampers

Jeanne's F4A is about using an angled element - sentiment, image, panel, embellishment: anything that's angled and tilted.

F4A481 Tilt A Whirl 6.10.19 - Splitcoaststampers

Good grief...one link works for me and one doesn't.

Sabrina, both links work for me! Thanks for posting!

I love angled layers! I wish I had time to play today but Seth is about to come home and I am disenfecting everything!!

Elisa has a play tonight and an art competition tomorrow so he wanted to come home and be here for her.

I went last night with many cough drops in hand. Elisabeth did a great job. 30 plays in 60 minutes. She was in about 5 or 6 I think and had solo parts in 3. Always so fun to watch her! My shy little thing just gets up there and pretends she isn't shy and rocks it. Sorry. I just had a mommy moment.

Alright here's a question. What is your favorite way to use an angled element?

I love MFT's Blueprint 15.

Feel free to link to your favorite angled or Spotlight card!!!

I have to run and disinfect the house but maybe later I can link one of my faves!

Have fun today everyone!

I'm pretty straight forward about angled elements! Love tilting my panels and love angling my sentiments. -especially if the sentiment is a little large for the card. Ha, ha!

So much going on in life, but I finally completed a challenge card. I started this on Tuesday and had that image colored, but never managed to add a greeting and finish the card till today. I am enjoying reading the challenge chat and glad so many of you keep posting. The entries always bring a smile to my face.

Here is my card from the Color Challenge for this week. CC738 Thinking of You by lovinpaper - at Splitcoaststampers

Angie, the pain about my (and others, I had problems with the TLC notification on Monday) links is that they don't always work when I post them but they will usually work later. But I have to post them some time, at least in my gallery uploads) and just bear with the fact that people may get error messages for a few hours. I don't like knowing that they will, though.

Lovely photos in your IC - that one of Cancun, oh my, I'd love to be there. And the vivid red starfish, and the old maps - I'm a sucker for maps and have several stamps. Busy day here - next week is full-on and I have to do some housework today because last Monday, being a holiday here, was just housework lite . Relieved that whatever I had during the week just seemed to be a passing summer cold, I feel grand again now and thankful it wasn't as bad as you and Kathy seemed to be experiencing.

Sabrina, that is a bummer about the links. I am sorry.

I am glad to hear your cold passed quickly and you are back to feeling well!!

My husband and I are still coughing our heads silly. It makes it very difficult to concentrate on anything and we are both so tired! Hopefully we will be back to normal soon.

Oh Angie, I hear ya! I went to card class today, but I wore a mask because I didn't want to cough on anyone or on the supplies. My nose has been running and I've been coughing all day. I should have stayed home, but the ladies sounded disappointed when I tried to back out, and I felt bad. It was party month the too, one of the gals has a birthday this month. We've been each chipping in ten dollars so birthday girl gets an extra $50 to spend! Anyway, I hope you feel better soon. I've been making DH and DS2 take vitamin C's this week! I'm praying they don't catch it as this is the worst I've ever felt from a cold!

The CAS challenge is up! It's all about using a cluster! (a group of similar things or people positioned or occurring closely together.)

What is your favorite "Cluster" theme to create?
flowers? trees? animals? people, food? or something else?

Do you have a stamp with a group of items you like to use or do you prefer to stamp individually to make up your cluster? Or would you rather die cut?

The color challenge is so soft and pretty this week!

The Teapot Challenge is Happy Songs and we have a destination for our cards.

So what do you think of when you read the words Happy Songs?

I immediately had Happy Working Song in my head fromt the movie Enchanted!

I'm in work but with five minutes to spare. I was telling the other TPT hostesses this story...we were going down to Cork a couple of Sundays ago (Ireland's 2nd city about 2¾ hours drive). Along the way there's a 15 mile stretch of roadworks with an enforced speed restriction of less than 40 mph. It drives DH crazy - especially early on Sunday when there are neither construction workers nor traffic. So this time I distracted him by getting him to think of happy songs. I can't remember the first couple he suggested because they were impossible to find inspiration for a card from. I ended up with Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head, which is definitely upbeat...and I did keep him preoccupied so that he wasn't getting frustrated by the speed restriction. Walking on Sunshine was another of his suggestions.
Won't be home from work till dinnertime today so my card will get uploaded tonight...or even tomorrow if I'm as tired as I was yesterday after a long day on my feet.

I’ve made a card before based on Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head! I think it was a WT challenge to use a song. And I had that song stuck in my head because it was Raleigh’s favorite at the time. His current favorite is Renegade by Styx. I get such a kick out of which songs my kids are drawn to. I thought of possibly “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing” or “You Light Up My Life”. But I went with “Birdhouse in Your Soul” by They Might Be Giants. I almost did one based on that song for an IC in January, but didn’t quite end up using it.
It was a fun challenge and I look forward to browsing the gallery. I’m also glad that Heidi will get such very happy mail!

It's a nice sketch today with a large circle off the edge. Fingers crossed for the link...Carey's one in the notification thread just gave me the error message.

Can anyone link me to the dirty girl reveal thread? And tell me how I can remember to find it each month! I never can find it without help each month!

Thanks sabrina. Ann linked me up earlier but I ended up not being able to chat there because I went away.
