Today’s challenges look fun! I need to finish up my samples & write up for the vsn mini tonight. We’ll see if I have time after that.

I may try the Friday challenge. I just posted the first card I ever posted with Stamp TV. I may use it as the card to CASE. Here is the link: Sunray by lovinpaper - at Splitcoaststampers

I do hope to see everyone in the VSN forums tonight!

A small correction in Polly's post...

Mini challenges (the 3 posted tonight) have to be uploaded before the Main VSN goes live in order to qualify for the VSN Virtuoso prizes. So that means mini challenges must be posted by Thursday April 11...which is still a crazy-generous amount of time! LOL We decided to keep the long time period in case people miss tonight, but still want complete the challenges in April.

Angie, to answer your questions. One thing I do when my mojo disappears is look at my Pinterest boards where I've saved cards made by other people. I'll usually pick a theme (that's how my boards are organized) - eg Poinsettia Cards - look through that board and an idea on how to CASE a card will come to me - or I'll be inspired to use a elements from a couple of different cards.

Interesting about Lydia saying she will organize her supplies - that often works for me because I start organizing and then think "oh it would be much more fun to make a card than do this" so I start making a card to avoid having to organize!

For the Free for All, I picked a card from the earliest page of my gallery (2010) - this card and CASEd it / updated it into this card. I definitely like the new version better!

Thanks, Kim, for posting the VSN challenges - I hope to get to at least one or two of them on the weekend. I've never done a rolling marble background and would really like to try that.

Hi friends,

The mojo question is a good one. I either:

  1. Clear off a particular part of my craft space, which inevitably means I run into something I *have* to use at that moment
  2. Scroll mindlessly through SCS and other social media, which makes me feel like a slug. (Trying to cut down on this, especially for Lent!)
  3. Peek in on a challenge thread or two; they are definitely a great source of inspiration for me
  4. Crank out some tunes from one of my favorite Pandora stations
  5. Eat some munchies, and return to one of the above

This week, I have been busy with non-stamping projects which aren't any fun. Periods like mean my mojo is getting suppressed because the fun stuff (i.e. stamping) has to wait. I have all afternoon and evening tomorrow to catch up on some challenges while hubby is at work. Definitely need to catch up on my 2019 IC goal!

Well, I am impressed with those of you who posted your original works. They are much better than my originals!!! So fun to see where we began!

Woohoo on the April Mini! I hope everyone is playing along especially since we have a nice extended time to post. I hope to play!

Yikes, I keep getting distracted and forget to post my own challenge!!!! I hope if you have some time you will be inspired to play along. It seems to be a hit and the cards in the gallery are gorgeous! IC693 - Wedgwood

My question: Do you have a thing for dishes? Do you have a favorite? If you could have a certain collection what would you choose?

I LOVE dishes, cups and I even have a thing for glassware!
If I could, I would probably have a different set of dishes every month! The fine porcelain is my favorite and I would go for bold patterns! My current favorite is a creamy off white mug with a design in blue on the upper portion with a jagged bit of gold. I love the weight of it and the glaze! Love it! My daughter brought me home from her trip to Disney a pink ceramic cup with a cat on it. It includes a ceramic steeping top and a spoon in the shape of a paw. It's definitely on my favorite list!

Dishes are just something I eat off of, Angie, and the lighter their weight, the happier I am. Arthritis is starting to find me! I do like mugs, but no space to collect them. I've seen many pretty patterns that might inspire cards though.

well, you probably already know I have a lot if not all the pieces of Johnson's Brothers greendawn...

but, in addition to that. I have some White ironstone and some more modern stoneware Mikasa & Lenox (both solid whites with subtle dimension to them) Pink Depression glass.
If I mix the pink green and white I get spring. (everything is solid colors no prints, it just has textures to it for the patterns)

ooh to find the go&makevibe, I generally clean off my table

I find cool stuff in my room all the time. ( I also tend to shop online as there are no stores here so to justify the shipping I buy a few things at once not a one at a time thing so, I make a pile of things and shift through new stuff sometimes) sorting my stamps has lead to playing with more really old things. which is cool because, when I bought them I did not have the skills I have now and that means playing with old things now I end up with things I like better. So, I am planning to go play in the Free for all next I think.

Oh my goodness, Stacy! I am clueless! You are going to laugh. I did not know that JB Greendawn was a dish company! All these years when I see your username I have thought of a fantasy story. Greendawn just sounds like a character in a fantasy novel to me! I love dishes but as you can see I am completely clueless as to patterns and companies! I immediately googled Johnson's Brothers Greendawn and browsed the images. Yummy! I can imagine your table set with green, white and pink. Oh, what a pretty Spring table!!!

Great choice of site for the Inspiration Challenge, Angie! I originally thought I'd do something in tradition Wedgwood blue and white but got sidetracked by their Christmas pieces and used some lovely votives for my inspiration.

As for your question re china - I'm not the type of person to have everyday and good china sets - I have just the one, and it's plain white with nice textured edges (Mikasa French Countryside). I love beautiful linens so have some colourful tablecloths, placemats, and napkins that work best with plain white dishes. My china weakness is mugs and I have a great collection of different designs to suit my mood, the season, the type of tea.

Oh my gosh, Angie, what a great site with wonderful things to spark creativity. The thumbnails you chose are all so different, something for everyone, for sure. I am more partial to stoneware (love Pfaltzgraff) than china and would have several sets of every day dishes if I had the shelf space. I do have a a few place settings of a lovely Royal Doulton china that I found years ago, which spoke to me in both the pattern and the name, and find that's enough for me.

Oh wow Stacy aka JBgreendawn aka Chickie aka bionic woman......who knew (clearly not Ang, Misti or me). How cool to have an avatar named after bone china.

I had a beautiful dinner set many moons ago and it only came out on extra special occasions. I was heart broken when I lost it in a fire, to cut a long story short, the lady at the Insurance Company told me to use the replacement dinner set every day of my life. She said life is too short not to use beautiful china...I looked on her desk and her teacup was the most exquisite vintage cup and saucer I have ever seen. And yes, I took her advice.

I don't want to hijack the Challenge Chat thread, but if it weren't for all the challenges there probably wouldn't be a Favourites of the Week thread If you want to spread some love, here is this weeks Favs thread.

I have about another four or five years of older cards on my PC - some of those you would not want to see, although actually a lot of them got sold by my sister so they can't have been total disasters.

I do like both china and pottery, and I agree mostly with what Susie's insurance agent told her. I have china from my grandmother which I use on an ongoing basis - mostly plates and dishes, and some which I don't, because I like my tea in a big mug not a fine china cup. I don't have space to buy much more, but I'm often tempted. Our mugs are a wide variety of all sorts of everything.

I did know about Stacy's username .

Susan ...
My Mikasa is French Country side so I am grinning like a loon here.

I am fighting through a migraine but, the favorites thread is on my to-do list along with the FS and two more VSN today. ( I hope)

I have an image that I think will work for Misti's vsn (its a foodie one)

Lee's will be a sentiment with a split arrow around it somehow. ( going to be very easy is my guess just have to think of a sentiment to use first)

looks like the fs gallery runs towards CAS so, that would be good for me today.

( it is freakin' snowing again here. started friday night and has not stopped.)

weather people said oh, its gonna be sun shining with clouds this weekend.

Stacy, too funny that we have the same Mikasa pattern!

Lydia, thanks for finding an image of the Greendawn pattern - it is lovely (and, Stacy, I love the fact that you used that as your avatar!). When I was little, my parents had a very similar textured set but it was pale blue - not sure the brand or name.

I totally agree with the USE it philosophy! Why have it if we don't use it! We do break everything at our house so I use it with the knowledge it might not be here long! My husband broke almost all my wedding china while I was out of town several years ago. Poor guy! He felt awful and I think he was scared to tell me which is why I received the information via text!!! I have only a few pieces left. If I love something I use it! On the other hand, it's easy to do since I don't have anything priceless monetarily.

Susie Challenge Chat is always open for hijacking along crafty lines! Thanks for posting the Faves link!

I had fun browsing and selecting all the different patterns and styles for the inspiration!!!

I think it's fascinating how we grow and change. As a 17-year-old I adored shocking my mom with a love for brown placemats and dishware. As a 26-year-old newlywed, I was ALL about pastel pink and blue and now as a much older person, bold patterns and colors plus the weight of the item really speak to me.

Dishes are fun to look at and talk about. When I got married I didn't want China, but liked Pzalfgraff. Our pattern has roses on it, and I can't remember it's name, so I had to search; It is Trousseau.
Now I am into Fiestaware in all colors. I am very partial to the yellows, with Marigold being a favorite, which is retired. We rarely use the Pzalfgraff though, as they are in a China cabinet. It seems it takes more work once they are in a fancy cabinet.

Johnson's Brothers has those same things in a blue, a pink and a yellow colors
they are all called Dawn at the end but, my brain is not supplying the rest of the name off hand.

( I used to have some of the pink and blue in egg cups and I mixed them in at Easter)

What a fun chat about dishes. I have Johnson Brothers Snow White Regency which my mom passed down to me years ago. It's so pretty with colorful linens. And my wedding china is a lovely Noritake pattern called Norma which has small blue flowers around the edge and a silver rim. A couple of years ago my SIL gifted me a set of Lenox Winter Greetings with birds and tartan edges which she didn't like and I love - never had Christmas dishes before!
And sadly, my dad recently passed and I inherited my great aunt's delicate Haviland china.
I have TOO many dishes but I do use it all and find joy in setting beautiful tables when I host family dinners, my book club and my stampy friends!

I have really missed Splitcoast and especially the challenges. I'm pretty overwhelmed right now with my dad's estate and condo to clean out, but I'm determined to carve a little time out for my mental health. - thanks, if you've stuck it out through this long post!

Stacy, I looked up the Dawn series and my Mum's was Greydawn Blue (there seems to be plain Greydawn that is really grey and then the blue version). All that was left was one serving bowl that one of my sisters kept when my Mum died three years ago. We had the full set when I was a child in England but I think only a few pieces came to Canada with us when we moved here when I was 10. You've stirred up so many memories!!

So not only do we have the same Mikasa pattern now, but we both have connections to the Johnson Brothers Dawn china!

Ooh I love that there are 4 colors on the list, but the brightness level of them on my screen is just screaming. ( will look at them again at work, its funny how different monitors see colors)

It took me years to realize my old computer I must have had it set way bright because, some of my old gallery posts look dark and gloomy to me now a days.
