Who is up for making Valentine's cards? This week's sketch has a pretty heart as the focal image. Of course with sketches, you can always change the shape but I see Valentine's already filling up the gallery. Thanks, Diane for linking the challenge!

Do you send Valentines?
Do you make them in traditional colors or change them up?

I rarely do sketch challenges so won't be doing this one, but I did just post my Color Challenge card.

I will be making some Valentine's cards but mostly to sell to friends who ask me to make them some. I'm divorced but do send one to my best friend telling her how important she is in my life. I mostly make them in traditional colours but made one blue one last year that a friend requested - I was really pleased with it. See here if interested.

I don't send valentines but I make heart cards as anniversary cards. The sketch is great! I'm just getting back into sketches and this weeks is great!

I don't make or send them. DH doesn't want one, and sending more widely isn't part of the culture here. But I agree that hearts also work well for anniversary (and wedding) cards. I really only use about three anniversary cards a year, though.

Valentine's Day cards are not really part of our culture either, but I do love seeing them in the galleries. Susan I just looked at your 'blue' card, it's fabulous.

one of the things I noticed about my collection of stamps and dies is I have a lot of things that are things people in my life collect. ( my mil collects hearts and angels and etc etc) but, hearts are her big thing... so, I have quite a few of them, and really I am not so sure I have really used them to make cards for her

I don't make Valentines cards for me to send but, I do have a few people who buy my cards that buy them. so, I may make a couple, but it won't be very many.

Susan, I went to look at your blue valentine and saw that I had faved it last year : ). It is gorgeous and unique.
I really enjoy the sketch challenge but am not always able to fit it in. Wednesdays are busy for me, including today, but I hope to do this one because I really like it. I took a peek at the gallery and it's already full of beautiful cards.
I don't send many Valentine's. My DH doesn't really care if he gets one or not! I send to our two grandchildren and one to our daughter. That's usually about it. I've never really been drawn to hearts, always think they're kind of ho-hum when I'm thinking of wedding or anniversary cards. That said, there are some beauties in today's gallery, so I'll have to stretch myself and use a heart if I make a card!

Long ago DH made it clear that he doesn't 'celebrate' Valentine's Day. Ha, ha! So I make very few but do send to my MIL and daughter. I certainly enjoy seeing them though. Loved your blue Valentine Susan!

I'm not drawn to hearts either. But I didn't want to change the sketch, so I hid mine behind a cat in a box.

I usually make more valentines than I expect. I don't make one for hubby, but I have to make some for my kids, especially because we read the Charlie Brown Valentine's Day book and Desmond got worried that he wouldn't get any valentines just like Charlie Brown. LOL! And I usually have some friends that ask me to make some for them.

Ways To Use It is up! It's all about numbers.

So I have to ask, what is your favorite way to add numbers? Stencils, stamp, stickers, or die cut?

Susan, I LOVED your blue Valentine card. Gorgeous!

So very interesting reading about the different cultures and valentines.

I don't think I have made my kids a valentine card since the year I went crazy and die cut 26 or so doily's and created school valentines. They were so pretty and so much work and no one cared but me! LOL

I am a very cheap date. I always tell my husband not to buy me candy, I will do it myself the day AFTER Valentines and get the candy at half off! Sadly, the last few years the stores have apparently wised up to this and they don't purchase as much because there's nothing left anymore on the 15th. Either that or our town has gone crazy for candy and wipes it all out prior. That is a possibility I guess since we have grown by leaps and bounds the past few years.

I rarely use numbers - don't have any number dies or stickers. I think I have a stencil with some numbers on it. All I can think of is an old inchie stamp I have that says "Dec 25th" so will probably use that.

Hi friends

I didn't do the weekly sketch challenge today. I worked on some more fan club stuff. And I had to work on some non stamping projects as well. I might try to come up with a combination for the sketch with the numbers though that might be quite a stretch.

I don't use numbers very often, maybe on a card for a milestone birthday. I purchased number dies last year, since my chipboard supply was slim. It is so much easier to add numbers now!

I have two appointments tomorrow, so I won't get to my craft room until after lunch. The gallery should be looking great by then! ☺

Angie I had a chuckle at your story about retailers catching on about the 15th. I have a happy 15th of Feb story from last year. At 8am on Valentines day, the door bell chimed and there was the flower delivery guy with a HUGE bunch of red roses. I didn't even have to look at the card to know they wouldn't be for me LOL.....sure enough they were for the lady next door.

The poor florist guy way so embarrassed and apologetic he started to have an asthma attack, the more I tried to reassure him, the worse it got. Thankfully I had a Ventolin inhaler close at hand. Guess what happened the next day...the florist put together the biggest bunch of left over flowers and delivered it to me, with a note saying Happy 15th of February!

Awww! Susie! That is the best florist story ever!! What a great guy!!!

I am not one to use numbers very much either or clocks. Weird. I love seeing both in the gallery.

I will be gone all day today too Kim. Can't wait to see your fan club stuff. Five more days? A little birdie told me that it's fun back there behind the scenes.

I have number dies and a stencil, and probably two clock stencils or more by now. I think they make a fun background and use them more for that than for milestone birthdays. What I would really like is a numbers and maths symbols background stamp!

Oh, and I loved Susie's story too. I have occasionally had a florist's delivery from DH, but I'd have known it was a mistake too if it was Valentine's day. I seem to quite often take temporary deliveries for our neighbour!

When we were still dating, not even engaged, DH sent some to the house where I was working for two weeks cooking for a family on their summer holidays. They were very impressed, and Francis gave me his phone credit card so that I could go to the call box in the village and ring Ireland to say thank you.

This is me pressing the like button on Susie’s story

I have some lovely stamps from Ma Vinci’s Reliquary called A & P Numbers that are my go to on the rare occasions I add numbers to something. I suggested to Spellbinder that they produce numbers to go with their Font 1 alpha dies but apparently to no avail. I’ve also used clocks and tape measures (stamps and masks) to add numbers when a challenge has called for numbers.

Joanne, Ohhh! Tape measure! I didn't think about that for numbers. I have some tape measure ribbon! Cool idea!

Misti, that is adorable! Thanks so much for sharing! Yesterday DH and I celebrated an early anniversary since he is working on our actual date. Then today I was out all day. My brain is a bit mushy and I still have a lot to do before I lay my head down so this was a great chuckle! Thanks!

Sabrina, that is so sweet about the calling card included with the flowers!!

Kim, I am sure you were glad you ventured out once you had your new do!

For today's MIX MariLynn is asking us to add a new twist to old supplies...and to share our ideas: MIX311 Everything old is new again 1-11-19

I have plenty of old supplies, that's the easy part; I'm working on the new twist while I enjoy an early morning coffee.

I got a card made for yesterday's Ways to Use It - a Christmas card, I'm afraid. Not sure I'll have time to do anything for today's challenges.

I have a fun new set featuring food. I will see if I can squeeze in a card today. It's been one of those weeks here. Today Steve is back to work and my house needs some MAJOR attention!

Susan, I will check out your card. I love your Christmas cards!

I am your hostess for the IC this week! I hope you will have some time to play along!
The site is Paper Source. I am especially drawn to sites with lots of white space which this one has. I think it's kind of elegant.

While searching for this week's Inspiration Site I found that January 12th is Nat'l Vision Board Day.

Have you ever created a Vision Board? Do you think it would be fun? What is one thing you would put on the board?

I never have ( created a vision board that is) I did however buy an old window at a yard sale ( many years ago) with the intentions of putting chicken wire in where the panes of glass are now. ( but, when I was going to smash the glass to start hubs said no, he could remove the glass in once piece) ( this still has not happened)

the idea I had was I was going to hang cards I had received from other stampers on it, on the back of the door to the hobby room where I could see these pieces of art.

I should poke at him about it again, he finished most of his personal to do lists over the holidays.

Nat'l Vision Board Day...

I first thought of the chart you look at during an eye exam.

The ACTUAL vision board idea (which I just googled!) looks kinda fun. I have never done it, other than some flow charts for strategic planning at work years ago. But considering my personal "word for the year" is Recalculate, I think a vision board would be well-worth developing!

I have found several pretty things on the inspiration site. I had plans for a short road trip early tomorrow morning, but with the oncoming snow I've decided to stay home. That means I can stamp!!

Hubby should be home from work soon. It's Friday night, and since I don't have to get up at 6:00 a.m., we're going to enjoy popcorn and some amazon prime tv.

I'll catch you in the gallery tomorrow!

Stacy, that sounds like a beautiful project! Ha about your husband not getting to it. My husband always has great ideas on how to help with things but they usually just stay ideas. I hope your project comes to be soon. You will love it! I bought a frame from Kohls last year or the year before It came with little wood stained clothes pins and jute strung across the frame several times. I clip the cards people give me to it. I LOVE it.

I had to look up vision board - payback for everyone who had to look up fantasy film, LOL. Stacy, get your DH to finish that off, it sounds super! I saw some beautiful work done with old recovered window frames in a glass-art studio in Greece.

I still have no space heater in my attic so it's too cold to spend a lot of time up here. I messed up one card for the IC, and pulled another one together from scraps on my desk. I'd like to make the first idea, maybe using ink instead of paint in the stencil. I don't know why the paint smeared so much, I know I've had great success with texture paste in that one. But it will wait till tomorrow, I'm done up here for the day.

At least the cold is making it easier for me to focus on trying to finish a knitting project - I've been working on a woodland wreath since we had our houseguest back in November, and I just have the last flowers to add to it tonight to finish it off.

Nearly finished: it still has two types of flowers to sew on, and I'm trying to work out how to "add a bird to it" - I made a blackbird this afternoon.

Stay safe, everyone in the snow zone.

Sabrina, your knitted wreath is fabulous! I knit too - I'm currently working on a turtleneck (polo neck) sweater for myself in a lovely red flecked wool (subtle green and blue flecks in it). I'd hoped to finish it to wear this past Christmas but no such luck!

I love the website you chose for the Inspiration Challenge, Angie! I definitely got inspired - just posted my card.

The Featured Stamper challenge is up - someone I'm not at all familiar with so I'm off to check out her gallery.

I made a card for today's IC, but haven't uploaded yet. I was pretty lazy today! LOL Mostly read my Kindle and watched the snowfall.

I recognize the Featured Stamper as someone who joins in on the VSN fun often! She has such a creative, unique, fun style!

Time for bed. See you tomorrow!!

drum roll please...

I am now the proud owner of two ( I guess I forgot, these have been in a closet under the garage stairs for years now) windows that have no glass and chickenwire in the holes... however... ( they kinda sorta need a little more dry brushed on distressed paint because, the original house paint on them is very flaky) so, I think I need to wire brush all the lose bits off and add some fresh over the top...

hubs was rather put out about that because, he said if he had known I was going to paint them he would have waited on the chicken wire and I had no idea he took me seriously when I mentioned those windows to him this morning.
so, its OK I am not trying to paint them to a perfect smooth finish anyways.

and I got my FS card found and done and loaded tonight. ( its been a good day here)

I recognize our Featured Stamper too from playing in challenges! I hope to play tomorrow! I am without a car tomorrow so no church for me. Maybe some stamping time!

Sabrina that is a beautiful wreath! I loved the card you created for the IC!

Misti, I hope the boys got their arrow count up!

Dawn, I would like to give that sketch a try, it is interesting. We can switch out the heart for any shape. It's on my wish list of things to try!

Kim, I was super lazy this evening. It felt good to binge watch a favorite show!

Susan, I loved your card for the IC!

Jennifer, I hope you got the chance to knit tonight!

I am off to bed and hope to stamp some tomorrow and check back in here!

We were forecasted for a winter mix but it missed us. I am glad because it's just such a hassle here in the south and since my husband drives 45 minutes to work every day, I am very happy that he didn't have to deal with it. My sister is in IN and shared photos with me. She DID get lots of snow!
