That Guernsey, yes (my niece goes to a book club and they call themselves after the Potato Peel Society). I worked there for about four months, cook to an ex-governor of the island and his wife. He sent me on an errand to Government House so that I could have a chance to see it.

Sabrina, you lived on Guernsey? The one of Potato Peal Society

We (Ontario) don't differentiate on the general driving licence regarding the transmission. A G licence allows you to drive manual (even if you never have before).

Yay for the F4A being up! It's time to shut down the computer and I won't be back for awhile tomorrow. It's my daughter's first day back to school but first I have to take her to the doctor for some shots. YIKES!

I certainly am enjoying reading about everyone's first vehicle!

Have a great day!

And Ky's MIXed media challenge is a week-long work with A Layer A Day. I guess my big decision is whether to start on a canvas or just go for a large piece of card.

For the recycling a Christmas card challenge, I decided to turn one into a tag. The only stamping is the to and from on the back, but it was a fun project and will be great to have this next wrapping season!

Well, I've gone for both a canvas and a smaller piece for a card front for the MIX. But I learnt my lesson about not making cards bigger than I can make an envelope for. I know, I can make an envelope any size but I don't have much paper bigger than 12"12. I ended up using a sturdy paper shopping bag to make an envelope for a card I sent recently. So I won't be able to layer this piece onto anything much bigger.

I left my mixed media layer at home drying this morning. Looking forward to see if I got any crackle when I get home. The suspense is killing me waiting to see what else is in store for this week long challenge and how on earth in going to fit a card together!

How clever are all of YOU! Or..how much has my brain turned to mush this month! haha..Some one get the sweets away from me!

Great job, all!

joining in here in the MIX challenge. It is exciting to see the energy of everybody kind of in 'real time'. Being in the same process but different results...my first day came out without abandon...too in the lines. I know I will be glad I followed along...great job Mixers!

T
Today I helped our son pack up his car, (wow, was it full) and off he went back to school. We had a wonderful holiday but now I feel I need a holiday from the holiday before I face routine! Not going to get it but a girl can dream!

Who had a chance to create today and what did you work on?

I have not had a chance to create with paper but I have worked on being creative in staging a LOT of photos over the last couple of days. I feel creative in a different way when I set the stage to feature a card adding a flower(s), sequins or gems to the background.

We had an archery tournament this morning. Had 7 archers that we coach... it’s WORK dealing with that many & their parents!!

I did get a non-SCS challenge made. Part of it was inspired by the IC, but I had a different idea in mind for it & have hopes for getting a card made.

Our group had card class day and then I spent over $100 on SU stuff! We made five cards and two heart candy holders.

I made a card for the inspiration challenge and even got it uploaded all in one day! I also uploaded a card for Wednesday sketch and a card that had nothing to do with challenges. In fact I had made it in December but didn't want to post it during virtual stamp night.

My husband and I are hosting a party for the 12th day of Christmas tomorrow afternoon so I really should be cleaning up the house. I'm just trying to move things 2 different corners in rooms where the guests will not go!

I have stamps set out for the Ways to Use It challenge but my craft table is such a mess and I'm really not sure how I want to use my car image. Regardless, I am happy to say I completed three of this week's challenges and got them uploaded. That's a solid start for me considering how slow my gallery was last year.

Ang I would love to see you set the stage for your gorgeous photographs. I tried to channel my inner Angie once, just as Geoff was walking in the room....he offered to clean up the "mess" so I could take a photo.

I've been making paper dresses as a result of Karen's EF technique last Monday (that challenge should have come with a sever warning...it's so addictive). Hopefully the dresses will work for Ky's fun and very mysterious MIX challenge.

FAVOURITES OF THE WEEK is up. Due to the "likes" bug and no auto formatting, the Best of 2018 has been postponed.

I agree, Susie, I love the way Angie stages her photos. And Julie Warner. I could manage a supply of assorted glass pebbles more easily than Angie's various props. But it's enough of an issue for me just struggling with getting good light. I had just got round to seeing up my light tent in the spare bedroom when we had our unexpected guest for the month of October. Now I can't even remember where I put it when I straightened the room in a hurry.

Sabrina, I hope you find your light tent! It's much easier to have a designated spot to take the photos. I moved to our "catch all" room. It used to sort of be a guest room but it now houses an exercise machine, a freezer, a laundry drying bar AND the school supply box which used to be our son's toy box. That's where I set my cards and I have two lights. It's much easier for me than having to instantly clear my desk and snap photos there. I was tickled that my husband gave me 2 packages of staging items for Christmas! One is colored glass pebbles and the other is geometric clear glass.

Misti, sounds like you had your work cut out for you with all the archers and parents the other day!

Susie, you made me smile with your comment from Geoff!

Kim, how was the Christmas party?

Kathy, I can't wait to see what you bought at the SU! card class!

So here are my questions for the day.

What is your favorite stencil?
What is your favorite color to use when making monochromatic cards?

My favorite stencil is a cloud stencil. The stencil makes it a dream to create clouds.

I don't set out to make a lot of monochromatic cards. I probably use blue or pink the most.

Have a wonderful day!

Favourite stencil - either small stars or snowflakes for the backgrounds of Christmas cards.

Favourite colour for a monochromatic card - blue. Maybe I'll try and step out of that comfort zone for the challenge!

Angie, I ordered the Big Catch bundle, the new all my love DSP, a pack of card stock and two sets of blends, and a Christmas stamp to go with my hometown greetings dies. Can't remember the name of it right now. Got foil sheets and organdy ribbon from SAB!

I got my wires crossed and mixed up the monochromatic and the CAS challenge, and the end result is that I missed the mark on both challenges so I just uploaded it to no mans land LOL.

My favourite stencils are random shaped and spaced dots. My favourite monochromatic colour is turquoise...funny enough, both feature on card.

I'm glad you mentioned this, Susie. My immediate plan A would have had a stencilled background and a die-cut focal point, which I now realise doesn't exactly equate to monochrome stamping. Back to the drawing board.

I think my favourite stencil is a TCW one with a diamond pattern, but I have a new leafy one that might displace it. My most used one is my homemade circle one.

Kathy, sounds like a fabulous purchase! I looked up both the stamp bundle and the paper. Very nice! You will have fun!

Susie, I am off to check out that card! I bet it's amazing!

Susan, I will check and see if you tried another color for your monochromatic card!

Sabrina, I want to make a homemade circle one with different sizes. Haven't done it yet. Leaves sound lovely!

I think my favorite stencil is my Tim Holtz grunge stencil that has coffee rings and splatters. I always use it for moon craters.

I think I find that most of my monochrome cards are blue as well.

Color challenge is up and it's pretty! I am going to love looking at that gallery!

The teapot challenge is up and it's for Anne who most of us know and love! She is known for her funny cards. Let's shower her with cards, shall we? Also, her favorite color is red so we could combine challenges!

When you think of funny stamps you own what is the first one that pops into your head?
I actually can't think of one at the moment but I bet I wake up with one on my mind!

Oh I do like those Color Challenge colours! Only just got today's two challenges done - I'm afraid they are Christmas cards and you're probably all sick of looking at Christmas cards but I need to make them all year. And yes, Angie, I did something other than blue for my monochrome!

Hi friends

I had a slow start today after being exhausted from yesterday's 12th Day party. It was lots of fun!

Like many people, I combined the TLC & CAS challenges into one card. No picture yet. I will get one taken in the morning.

I started some cards for the Fan Club challenges. I can't say anything about them, though! 😉

I tried to check the color challenge, but I keep getting an error message on my phone. It probably will work on my laptop. I hope to play tomorrow!

Dawn I am sorry to read of your accident. I sure hope you are back to your old self very soon.
Angie in answer to your question, I immediately think of the fun Art Impressions girlfriends......closely followed by penguins in bikinis. I have made a head start on my card, but a quiet night on the couch with DH is calling. See you all tomorrow.

Humour is always a hard one for me. I love Susie's penguins in bikinis...but count me in a tiny minority of one, the AI stamps do nothing for me. I think the crazy birds and dogs are good for funny cards because you can add so many sentiments. Priscilla is ace at that!! I didn't buy the crazy cats because I think they look more scared!
For my card for Anne I took inspiration from a favourite childhood book called Two Can Toucan. I'll be home in about half an hour and I'll get my card uploaded then.

What fun galleries we're going to have to enjoy today! But Anne's tea party has come just a couple days too early for me. I just won a prize from So Suzy Stamps. I had never heard of them before, so I went shopping (it's proper etiquette to also buy stamps from anyone who sends you free stuff, right?).
Anyway, I have "Life is not a fairy tale. If you lose your shoe at midnight, you're drunk." and "If we are what we eat, then I'm FAST, CHEAP, and EASY." on their way to my house right now!

Shameless plug for the Teapot Tuesdays here - what makes it special is that it's primarily an outward-focussed challenge. But we always need destinations - and that requires input from the community here. So if you know of anyone who could do with a lift (card shower) or encouragement, or congratulations or celebrations, check out the first post in THIS thread, or drop a pm to Jacqueline with any details.

Sabrina, I LOVE that about the Teapot Challenge!

I still haven't thought of a funny sentiment yet, and I know I have a few. I need to go look.

Jen, I totally agree. It's definitely proper etiquette to buy more than we are given and if not it's my story and I am sticking to it! Your sentiments are a hoot!!!

Kim, you have our attention! Now we are really curious about your challenge cards!!

Susan, living in a warm climate, I never tire of Christmas cards. I LOVE the Christmas season. It's always too short for me. (except last year. I was numb. I am very aware and heavy hearted for all of those who went through hardship or tragedy in December)
