I JUST cleaned out the UFO bin today - so the answer is 1 fridge bin full + STACKS of gel press prints. But I had a lot of garbage in there - ugly "what was I thinking saving this?" backgrounds that needed to go.

Great question! I have a folder that I keep pieces of backgrounds in. I don't have a lot in there and about half of them just need to be tossed because no matter how creative my future self might be some of them cannot be rescued! I don't have any colored images. I just don't seem to create that way. I have way too many failed die cuts I will probably never use, they should be trashed and that's about it.

I have to come back and say that I'm kind of mystified that I have all of this unfinished business, as I'm a "one-off" kind of creator. I canNOT for the life of me figure out how/why I've acquired this pile o' stuff! A whole bunch of cards must have evolved significantly differently from the original intent or something... It'll be kind of fun to see what comes of all of it now, though!

The wonderful craft shop I go to (Little Bits) accepts everyone's UFO's and scraps. It all gets bundled up and donated to a group of ladies in a small country town somewhere. They make cards to sell in their charity shop, what they don't need then gets passed onto the little primary school and they use it in arts and crafts classes. WIN/WIN.

The Technique Lovers Challenge is up! The samples for this challenge are brilliant in color! Both of today's challenges are about using color, how cool is that?

I am definitely going to see if I can make time for these challenges, even if they don't show up in the galleries for a few days.

I have several distress stains but they are in shades of blue and purple, I believe. I will have to see if I can find an image for that!

Do you have Distress stains in your artsy toolbox?

What comes to mind when you read "create with blocks of color?"

Oh dear, I just looked in my artsy toolbox to find a substitute for Distress Stain and I was more than surprised to find 5 bottles of the stuff LOL.

I've been creating a colour swatch book for the past few days. For once I had no trouble making a CAS card.

UFO's-- we move so often, that I end up pitching most of them. Right now we are in a temporary place that has been more temporary that what we were planning, is the smallest space I've ever had & most of my stuff is in storage. Thanks to the challenges on SCS, I've learned to look at some of those pieces of "trash" differently.

Blocks of Color-- that stumped me for a little while. I was glad I had some notice to be able to try a few things.

Susie - love your card! I was stumped for awhile with the colour blocks but came up with something eventually.

The Color Challenge is up. I'm honoured to have been asked to be one of the November Guest Designers. I found this week's colours to be quite a challenge as they're not colours I'd normally put together. So coming up with a card for that really was a challenge!

Wow Susan, both of your cards are wondeful and I would never have guessed the colours were out of your comfort zone. Thank you for the compliment, especially as you are one of my CAS guru's.

The Teapot challenge is all about the greenhouse and plants this week! Even if you can't play along you have to check out two things! One check out the last sample photo on the challenge page. It's a smiley teapot! SO CUTE! Next, I hope you will follow this LINK to Anita's greenhouse card!

Are you a green thumb? Do you have plants indoors? Do you garden? Do you enjoy creating cards with greenery? If you have a favorite card featuring greenery (not flowers this time but green plants) share the link with us!

I am NOT a green thumb. My mom is. We moved every six months and left most of our stuff behind with each move but she always had her plants. I have a memory of her constantly separating and repotting her plants while watching tv! Newspaper down, dirt all over the newspaper. Only now in her late 70s is she slowing down and with the outdoor plants. My sister is also a green thumb but it totally missed me. I kill just about everything. All except for a perennial with purple box like flowers that are planted by our front porch. I have no idea what it's called. It's a small clump low to the ground and in June it flowers. So pretty. My husband separated and replanted them so now we have 2 clumps. So....I guess my husband is actually the gardener because I didn't even do that! LOL I guess even in card making I don't have a green thumb. I can't think of a card that really showcases plants. I REALLY love to see cards with hanging vines so that is on my wishlist. here is a recent card with 3 vines. I just love the vines!

I used to have green thumbs indoors and out. Now I'm too tired to put the energy into it, and to remember to water things: maybe some time down the road I'll get that back again. My little pacific irises which I grew from seed have finally given up, and I had a bamboo I also grew from seed which perished in the snow. I need to try that one again, DH has a thing for bamboos.

I DO grow good parsley in pots, and one of the snippets of folklore associated with it is that if it grows well, then "the missus is the boss" .
I think I like using it on cards - I might have a quick look in my gallery while I get dinner on the go. I love the cactus set I got recently ( I used it on the long narrow card I made for your IC when I was a guest) - this is probably my favourite card I've made with it so far: MIX275 Simple Hello . But I'm not sure if cacti and succulents count as greenery?!

Thank you! I’m super excited because we are making a quick trip back to Okla this week to get a few things out of the storage unit. I’ll be bringing back some more stamping things, even if I have to ride with them at my feet!!

I didn't realise that you weren't in OK any more, Misti, till I saw you mention snow in TX.

I, don't faint, have an idea for the CAS challenge. I just need time, and this week of all weeks it may not happen. I'm still only halfway through my TLC card, and I like to support my fellow team-mates as much as I can.

We moved to TX last year Thanksgiving weekend. And 99% of our stuff is still in storage in Okla... it's been an adventurous year! I hope you get the CAS card made! I'd love to see your take on it!

Well, maybe that's why you possibly never got your birthday card, though I think I always make sure to check your address in case it's changed . I'd have to see what's in my label-printer address book to be sure.

Today is the last day of the Holiday Blitz! One of the tutorials is a card pouch by Lydia. She has figured out all the dimensions for us and says with that part accomplished this is an easy project! A set of cards on one side and on the other stamped envelopes in a beautiful pouch, what a sweet gift set!

Do you give away card sets as gifts? Have you done any of the Holiday Blitz tutorials? If so and you haven't linked the project yet, link them so we can see what you created!

I made a box in a bag, and loved trying out Dina's wreath stamping tutorial, but that was all I've been able to make time for. I do often give cards as gifts...sometimes making a special themed set for a friend in church, or just pulling cards from my stash for my sister and sister-in-law. I usually use another SCS tutorial to present them in - the Bag-a-Lope: Bag-A-Lope Tutorial - Splitcoaststampers. Just like my tip for the Box in a Bag, the Scor-Pal envelope insert makes scoring the Bag-a-Lope a cinch too.

Card sets are one of the gifts people seem to appreciate the most in my family. I love the idea that it's helping them connect with people - I doubt most people put the regular purchase of cards on their to do lists these days so I do enjoy giving them.

I'm doing all the tutorials! That's my favorite part of SCS! Fun, fun, fun!

I think I just need one or two done yet. Been away all day, but I did post the wreath stamping card this morning before I left.

Toni's WTUI challenge is all about spattering:WT714 - Make A Mess - {11/15/18} - Splitcoaststampers . That's something that used to really intimidate me, but thanks to various challenges and tutorials pushing me out of my comfort zone it's now something I enjoy and use a lot...except with masking fluid which I still can't get to look good . An Inktense pencil with a wet brush gives great spatter, but I think gold Twinkling H2Os might be what I use most. I was making a set of 8 Christmas cards to send to someone and was spattering away good-o with gold paint on Monday afternoon. For sample, though, I took it easy and used a stamp.

I have barely seen my stamp room this week - arthritis in my hands is really flaring, possibly because I over-used them working on fiddly little items last week for church bazaar : (. Have to take the grands shopping for winter boots this afternoon, but I may still get into the room and make something!
I give a good sized box of cards to my best friend every year around her birthday - I'm happy that she looks forward to that : )

Funny Sue should mention UFO's. I have a lot I've collected from classes, playing with new techniques, or making card fronts and pieces for "later." I was recently wrangling some scraps and found a bunch of unfinished pieces that got mixed in. Had a great time putting a few cards together by matching up scraps with the UFO's. So, organizing does sometimes lead directly to crafting!

The MIX is up!!! MariLynn's challenge will help us clean up AND rid us of the fear of experimenting and wasting supplies due to fails!

How often do you experiment with new techniques or color mediums? How often would you say a new technique ends up as a "go to" technique for you?

On Thursdays, I am out all day and away from tech so I missed the induction of our two newest Dirty Girls!!! We all know and love these gals! Kim (berlycece) helps moderate our VSNs here at SCS and she participates in many challenges! Ann (Dockside) is an enthusiastic participant in the daily challenges! I hope you will head on over to their galleries, congratulate them, and check out this month's Fan Club Gallery! Here's a link to this month's Fan Club Monthly Challenge.

MariLynn is such a great teacher!

I'm always looking for techniques and a LOT of them become go to's - I still think JeanneS' fingerpainted clouds is one of my faves I use a lot.

New techitechn, often. New mediums ...I have a very finite budget so I can't afford to buy and try all the newest and latest. I did get the Lift Ink and hope to have time to try it this weekend. I'd say that quite often new techniques become part of my staple repertoire, and sometimes it's ones that I didn't expect. Folds less often, but I often go back to the Free-standing pop-up and the hidden message slider for special cards. I used the slider to make thank you cards for all the Tickle a Teapotter guest hostesses last year. Unfortunately I don't think I'll have time to do anything like that this year.

MariLynn's was a fun challenge and clever idea...though I must confess that with a busy afternoon and only half an hour before work, I would have preferred to be able to start the card itself and not just prepare the paper for later. But at least it's ready to start on whenever I finally get home. I really appreciated the early posting...it sure helps.

The Inspiration Challenge is up!!! Gail is our guest designer and she has provided a very cool site to inspire us this week. The site is popping with colors and patterns!

If you would like to be a guest designer on the Inspiration Challenge simply pick an online site that hasn't been featured in over a year and PM one of the hostesses. If your site is selected we will contact you and you will be our guest designer that week. How cool is that?

When you are gazing at a photo for inspiration what usually catches your eye, the pattern or the colors?
