Card Question/Opinion (saying, etc.)-Tacky?
OK, here is my situation. My cousin's wife's father just had a liver transplant. He is a really sweet guy and I want to send him a get well card to let him know we are thinking of him while he is staying at a 'gift of life house" recovering. I know he likes older cars. I have the classic convertibles set. Here are my questions. Number one, I am not familiar with cars, should any of them be a certain color??? Or were they a certain popular color?? I would like to make it look like I know what I am doing..lol. Second question, this may sound really outrageous and maybe not appropriate but I was trying to come up with a cute catchy car-related saying to put in the card. My brain is not functioning well. Do you think it would be tacky or way off the wall to put something like. "Heard you got a new filter" or something along the lines of after so many miles, we could all use a tune up or new parts or something. I know, I know...maybe I should just be normal and put thinking of you and blah, blah, blah..
SO ALL WHAT DO YOU THINK??

I love "Heard you got a new filter" That is perfect. If it was me that would be the kind of card I would want. Too funny.
My husband says go with red and white or the Tbird was blue alot of times or white was popular on them too.
Have fun.

I laughed out loud when I read you saying!! I don't like giving get well cards unless they're funny. I usually try to find a thinking of you card beacuse who wants to be reminded of how crappy they feel. KWIM? I say go for it!! I would love it if I got that card and I'm not even into old cards!!!

"Heard you got a new filter" is funny! He could probably use to look at the lighter side! Go for it!

I love the saying too! My brother had a liver transplant and would have loved that. Well, except for the part where he started laughing so hard it hurt...

That's just what he needs! A lift up! Go for it. It is just the kind of thing a guy would like and say!

I like the filter saying. If he is the guy who likes a good joke or pun I'll use it.

Too friggin' funny!! "Filter" is also appropriate since the liver filters and metabolizes alot of things.

I think it would be funny to say something about the mileage and getting some new parts or a tune up! Great idea!
as for the cards - sorry I'm no help there.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I called his daughter today to see how he is and make sure I sent it to the correct place and he is already home!! I guess he is making a great recovery. I told her my saying and she laughed and she said I HAD to send it to him and she said she can't wait to see the card. I feel so much better now.
