Canadian military need our support
Hello to all,
Thanks to Stampin'_Geer for giving me this suggestion: starting my own thread. A little daunting, but I'm giving it a try.
I got connected with two military wives in Manitoba who are aiming to collect 50,000 cards (blank on the inside) for our military to send home to their loved ones. They have sent their first box of 500, so they have a ways to go. They need graduation, new baby, birthday (especially for kids), love you, miss you, anniversary, hello; basically whatever cards we make, they need.
Are you interested in making 1, 2, 5 or 10 (or more) to help them reach their goal? Or do you have a stack (like me!) that you can go through already? I am collecting cards on an ongoing basis. When the box is full, I'll send it to them and start another.
Please reply and I'll send you my address.
Thanks for helping with this worthwhile project.

Hi Carolyn
I have boxes and boxes of cards I need to sort and give to someone so I think maybe some could come your way! I won't be able to do it for at least 3 probably 4 weeks as I'm off to the UK on Monday to visit my kids. Please PM me your addy and I'll save it to a folder for use some time in April!

Thanks again to all who have PMed me. I knew all you SCS addicts would come through for our military. I think the box will fill up quicker than I expected, and I'm looking forward to starting box #2!

There is a wonderful family in my community that does all kinds of things for our troops, like getting pens made that say 'we support our troops' and sends them to military bases all over Canada! I just recently made some cards with the yellow ribbon held with a maple leaf brad with thank you sentiments (they turned out pretty cool ) and gave them to the family to send off with the pens! Anyhoo, I just wanted to share that story as it seems we all have the same goal in common...to support our troops! With all that said, I am PMing Carolyn now...

Heartwig - thanks for posting this! I know they have a website (because I was on it last week!) I can't remember the site address though. Maybe you could post it for us?
I'll be sending some cards along one of these days.

Great hug, Lily_Louise!
Thanks Anemone for the suggestion of posting the website. It is www.acardforhome.com. It would be great to "flood" them with cards from SCS. I am still humbled and in awe at the response from all of you. As of today, in my hot little box, I have over 100 cards! And that's just by word of mouth with my hometown friends.
And yes, Stamps'nCoffee, there are so many wonderful projects out there to support our troops. They really need to know we remember them and pray for them. Anything tangible boosts their morale (and their families). I can't imagine what it will do for family members here to receive a beautiful homemade card, made with love, from their spouse, or parent, or son/daughter stationed so far away.
Keep it coming - I love it!!

No new news - unless you count the Canadian soldier injured in Afghanistan by a roadside bomber.
All the more reason to remember the military...

Hello,
Just putting the required info near the top of the thread again!

They have sent their first box of 500, so they have a ways to go. Please reply and I'll send you my address.
As an aside, I'm over 100 cards just with my immediate friends!

Carolyn - I have tons of cards that I can send you from another fundraiser for my friend as we have an abundance at present. Please PM me with your address and I will try and get them out this week. They will be full cards with the angel policy stamp on the back!

I have a big bag of cards (probably 100 or so) ready to go, I just need to get to the PO and will probably put them in an Express Envie as it will cost less. I will let you know when they actually get in the mail!!!

To Cookiehead,
Sorry for the delay in responding - we were moving my MIL into an assisted living facility today. Hard job, and we're tired (and not nearly done) but more family will arrive in the next few weeks to help out with sorting from the old place.
Anywhoo..thanks so much in advance for all the cards! I'm looking forward to seeing and receiving them.
Have a great evening.

Heartwig, I can't do it (since I don't know how!) but maybe you could post a link to this thread in the just for Canadians thread. You might get more response there since it is mostly Canadian stampers.

Hello all: I'm hoping to send off my first box of cards the first week of April. Is anybody close to sending cards? If so, I'll hold off; if not, I'll start preparing for the big mailout. Thanks! I will continue this on an ongoing basis, so don't worry if you miss out this time.

Jacqueline: Thank you! I will keep an eye out for it and let you know when in arrives.
Mail in an actual mailbox and not a computer inbox - how exciting! I can't wait. You'd think I was 10 years old or something, not plus another 30 years...

Hi Carolyn! I have a few that are ready, but I think I'll wait to ship until I get some more! I want to make a few more appropriate ones that will be needed, rather that all the flowery ones that I have! Also, I'm going to a workshop tonight and I'm going to encourage everyone to pitch in as well! I'll keep you posted!

Works for me. Hope you had fun at your workshop. I'll post when I'm getting ready to mail off my next batch, or if you want to send when you're ready, I have no problem with holding them here.
