EE2 is the Edmonton Extravaganza which is a get together of lots of SCS girls and organised by Peggy(smallpigpig) and Diane(cameldiva)+ Kyla(skilo) and this is the 2nd year. Robin's alias is laderme, she who sends you the 'annonymous' cards and includes ones for the French speaking troops. So it's all SCS related.

Carolyn,

How did you miss it? I swear we have been chatting so loudly as we get closer to the weekend that all of SCS would have to tell us to tone it down. LOL

We will be gathering them over the weekend, and do stop by to see us if you can.

I'll be there about 4:45 Sunday afternoon to pick up the cards - I can't wait!! Wish I could have been there for the weekend. I was supposed to scrap with friends tonight but they all bailed!

Can you make sure that people write down somewhere that they were contributors to the military project? I'd love to know which SCSers (screen name and real name) got involved.

Thanks! Have fun!

Well, I picked up a BOX of cards from the Edmonton Extravaganza! Haven't had a chance to count them yet, but when I do, I'll be sure to put a new card total on here. Thanks ladies!

Carolyn, If you PM me your address, I have some cards that I can send out. I just finished going through more boxes of my swaps so thought I would send them your way as I was able to only do about half before EE.

Carrie, I will PM you right away.

I now have a new total - it took me a few days to sort, do envelopes and bag the cards (and it happened that fast thanks to my DD's help). The majority of the cards came from the EE2 event (thanks again, ladies!!)

We are now at 3,294!

Good morning all!

I have a new card total...unfortunately it's at home and I'm at work! I got a bag full of cards from someone who lives close by, then Judy's (canstamper) package arrived yesterday in the mail - boy can she pile cards into a Canada Post box!

Anyway, I will give the total tonight when I get home.

Hope all of you are having a great day.

Keep them coming!!!

Default More cards

Carolyn

I have 137 cards ready to send, and will hopefully have at least 13 more before Laurie the Courier comes this way again.

I haven't really read through many of the posts, but I hope that a lot of people are thanking you for all the work that you are doing to coordinate this. Thanks!

Wow, that's great, Val! Thanks. Laurie is away this weekend so it will be a little while before she's down in your neck of the woods. It still works great, though to have direct delivery between you and me!

Don't worry - I get lots of thanks. That has never been a concern to me. It's a joy to do it, and my pleasure comes from knowing how much the soldiers and their families appreciate it.

Thanks for your thanks, though.

Have a great weekend! We have our son's last lacrosse game tomorrow morning before playoffs. Hopefully they'll do well.

Carolyn,
A small package is coming your way. Not much stamping but the photos were all taken while on a school trip to Quebec.

Good morning bump. I've been sorting lots of cards and I actually ran out of envelopes! Time for another run to Hallmark!

When I get a minute to do an update, I'll put in a new card total. Until then, I'll keep you in suspense...all I'll tell you is that it's a BIG jump. Any guesses?

So nobody wanted to guess...hmmm. Well then, we'll just put in the total.

But first of all, ValH - your cards arrived from the "courier" - wow - that was quite a stack of quality cards. No wonder you're burned out! Surflola - your cards also arrived - beautiful like always! I really liked the waterfall and the rainbow.

Now, with all of these cards just recently received, the total is at 4,119!!! Can you believe it? We broke the 4,000 mark - thanks to all of you for being so generous!

Have a great evening all.

WOW! That is a HUGE jump. Nice job everyone.

The waterfall picture was out of the box for me. I've tried photographing rainbows when I see them but they never turn out. This was really close to us. We were on a viewing platform. The place, Ste. Anne Canyon in Quebec, is spectacular and all the elements lined up perfectly. Sometimes, that's all it takes, I guess. Glad you liked them.

Thanks everyone for still contributing! I've just started the third box of cards! And I still have a whole slew to sort through. I got a little bogged down with lacrosse playoffs and final exams with the kids, etc. This is such a busy time of year. I know many of you can relate.

Wow! It's been a while since I've updated, so I thought in honor of Canada Day I'd do a new card total. There are 5 people who contributed to this jump in numbers so thank you to all.

The total now stands at 4,533!

Have a great day tomorrow, everyone!

Good morning all,

Just bumping this up with a thank you to those who have PMed me. Still waiting for some packages of cards that people have said they've sent me. Will let you know when they arrive.

Another hard week for our military with another loss of life. I'm sure our thoughts and prayers go out to their family and friends.

Hello from sunny Alberta! Of course, wait half an hour and we'll be in the middle of a rain storm.

I have a new card total thanks to a few deliveries (including Cookiehead's - thank you!).

We now sit at 4,628!

I heard from the Edmonton Garrison this week and they would love to have a mid-August delivery so that the next deployment of soldiers can pick through the cards and take a batch in their own luggage. What a great idea!

Anybody got some they need to send me quick? Of course, I'll still accept after that - I'll take another delivery to them in October. I have 3 boxes I can take them already. Those will then be shipped overseas for the soldiers to select some more cards.

Let me know!

Hey Caroline, I have a full shoebox full that my demo will take from me in August. Apparently she passes them off to her neighbour who somehow gets them to you. Not totally sure how many times it passes hands before you get them.

Sounds great! I'll look forward to hearing from whoever gets them to me. Is it someone from Calgary? If so, that could be any number of people since quite a few send from that area.

yes I believe it is but I am not sure who it is needless to say but its nice that she does it and it saves everyone on shipping. As it stands I have an entire shoebox filled with swap cards and such.

Carolyn, didn't get out either Thursday or Friday to mail but one very large Xpress envy left today. Am working on getting another one out before the end of the week. So many card fronts to make into full cards. Quite a few of the next envelope will be Christmas ones. I'm having a real big purge on all theses swaps I've collected over time.

Sounds great! I will let you know when it arrives. The Christmas cards I'm keeping separate at this point till I find out if the Edmonton Garrison wants them in the August shipment or the fall shipment. Once they get counted in, we'll have another HUGE jump!

Thanks for joining in! What do you mean by how do I want them sent? If you're in the Spruce Grove area, you can hand deliver them. If not, send by our "wonderful" Canada Post. Most ladies find that using the Express Post envelope works best - buy the size that will work best with the amount of cards you have (it's a flat rate), then jam it full! Other than that, you are charged parcel rates and they are ridiculous. I find it's best to wait till you have a substantial stack to make it worth your money. Not that I don't like lots of little packages - I just want people to feel they're getting the most bang for their buck.

I will PM you with my address.

What a GREAT idea!!! The guys & gals would never think ahead of time about taking cards with them, but with the cards sitting there in front of them before they leave, they can plan ahead! WHAT a great way to keep them connected to family and friends...LOVE IT!!!!
