Thanks for the link, Mary! Wow, those are really neat. I may have to get some of those build a brads too, now.

Hey, thanks Mary, I really like the design of Cambria's card, and also enjoyed her site. If you see anything else I would love to know about it. Thanks again! Jo

Just curious if anyone knows whether these were made with the SU scalloped circle punch. http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...y/photo/716890

I don't know if that was done with the SU scallop punch, but I do know that I used the SU scallop punch, 1 3/8" and 1 1/4" circle punches to make this lollipop cover. HTH

This is for Hotwheels - Linda I haven't forgotten about the CE and Pearlex question, I just haven't have time to work on it, I'll try to get to it tomorrow.

I believe so, someone did the mini York Peppermint patties (cambria maybe) with the SU punch. I believe a regular York would need a larger scallop punch.

those certainly look like the SU scallop. the marvy scallop has smaller scallops (not as deep).

I actually bought the marvy scallop punch when SU was having trouble with there's (when it first came out - all worked out now) I thought I would give it to my friend when I ordered the SU punch. But I kept both, they have different looks.

Are you talking about Build a Blossom?

If so, there is an entire gallery for it..as well as all the other SU sets.

Click on the gallery and you'll see *ALL* of the SU sets alphabetized.

I just bought the powder pals, and oh my gosh! They're great! They come in two sizes, and the large one is HUGE! I mean massive!!!!

And I also purchased the sponges. Honestly, I thought these were going to be three small sponges, but they are extremely large circular sponges. I had to cut them down into quarters! It was definately worth my money.

I think she means the accents and elements kits on page 178. One of them is called Build-A-Flower.

Have you tried just searching the gallery for it?

Thanks Monnie

I have been working this evening on a Star-Card - my first. Check out the tutorial by Misti Ryal. I saw several postings, also. There seem to be several diff varieties, but I am using SU Uptown DSP and CS, the scallop punch, with a circle punch - mounting snapshots on the circles and suspending in the openings made by the scallop. I will post it in my gallery when I get it done. So far, it is time-consuming, and you have to be careful what you're gluing to what, but it is turning out right nice, if I do say so myself. Anybody else tried it yet??? Jo

Try this link. I searched for it in quotes. That seems to help sometimes. A lot of the results aren't Build a Flower, but quite a few are. http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...=5&y=13&limit=

For some reason though, you can't go to the second page of results.

I have just put my first "star card" or StarBook in my gallery, It is a little diff from some I've seen. Alas the close-ups show all the little flaws, but maybe you'd like to check it out anyway. I cased several different ones, then picked Misti Ryal's tutorial to (kinda) follow. I always have to do it my way! Thanks Misti - this is great!

I used Lumiere to alter handbags I bought at our local thrift shop. We had a benefit auction for the animal shelter and the theme was "Doggy Bags" and I purchased my bags at the Humane society's thrift shop so it was win win both ways for them. They auctioned off my bags and they brought spectacularly HUGE money!
I love Lumiere on denim too. The white is great because you can add dye inks to it too. I use so much Lumiere that I now buy it in 8 ounce jars.

I would love to see what you did, but I guess they are all sold! Great project.
So, did you just paint the luminere on the bags?

Just to let everybody know, I have posted a starbook in my gallery that uses the SU DSP's and CS - But what I would like is ideas for embellishing it that won't make it too thick - i.e. STAMPS - what would look nice and "liven" it up a bit. What colors would you use, etc. Plus - the COVER is very plain, I would like to decorate it somehow to make it look nice when the book is closed. Check it out and if you have any ideas, let me know. Thanks! Jo

or you can stamp all over a piece of neutral cardstock and use that for each card.

It is such a great idea to have a place to go for SU discussions, questions and ideas.

I have seen a couple of posts about Crystal Effects (CE) and what to do with it. I absolutely LOVE CE! You can use it to adhere anything 3D to a project - you only need a tiny little bit of it so it last a long times. You can use it to attach buttons, flowers, twigs, etc. It is also fabulous to use in place of a Krazy Glue. It really bonds things together. I use it in the center of a flower or on a petal to look like dew. I put it on something to accent it and make it pop out - like filling in block letters of a word to stand out. You can mix it with reinkers and paint it on window sheets or acetate / transparency sheets for a stained glass effect. It is great to put on a project and sprinkle glitter on. It is very versatile and fun to experiment with. A bottle lasts a LONG time since you only need very little.

Lumiere is also something that is fun to play around with. As someone said, you can mix it with Pearl Ex for a nice glittery accent on a project. I have also mixed it with a little reinker. Lumiere has its own shimmer so reinkers make it take on a colored shimmer. Pearl Ex or actual glitter added to it make it even more sparkly.

I have a blog that uses only Stampin' Up! product as well. You can check it out at www.learntostampandscrap.com for samples of projects.

As promised ladies (or gents) here is my exiperment with Crystal Effects mixed with Pearlex.

I thought it was a lot of work, messy, and you could probably get close to the same effect with plain glue.

I put a drop of CE on a palette, mixed in Flamingo Pink PX, and dotted it on the first card and painted it on the tags. The only difference in doing this with CE instead of glue, is that CE gives it a richer color where as glue would give it a more pastel look.

Can it be done? Yes
Would I do it again? Maybe, but it would take the right stamp.

Sorry my examples are not SU, I didn't even think about that I just got some time to play.

Oh la la in Pink

Yes, I paint Luminere on everything! It is highly pigmented and sticks to everything. Especially pretty for any kind of purse. I painted a leather one and a vinyl one with ease and they were beautiful! Even sponged on accessories it is great. I bought some metallic colors of Luminere and am going to paint my sunglasses frames with it, using aligator clips on sticks holding a tiny sponge. One for each color.
I LOVE wild looking accessories.

subscribing to this thread! Great idea!

Those pepper mint patties are decorated with the SU scallop punch... I did see that on Cambria's blog for halloween. that is one of my favorite blogs to frequent. What a great idea to decorate those candies for ANY occasion!!
