Default Can anyone help?

Hi,

I don't know if you can purchase Nellie Snellen dies is the US but I'm in England and they are available here. I have recently bought some of these and I am having trouble getting some of them to cut. I have two border dies one of which is ok and the other doesn't cut well at all. I also have the squares, the smaller two are great but the large one only partially cuts. I am using a Cuttlebug with the same sandwich as for Spellbinders dies. I've tried a number of variations but get the same result each time. I have never had a problem with Spellbinders dies.

I'd appreciate any advice
Thanks, Connie

Did you buy them at a shop, or online? I'd check with whoever you bought them from, and I'd also contact the manufacturer. You may have gotten a defective die. (I have a Sizzix snowflake that came defective- the manufacturer replaced it) I'd also take a good look at my Cuttlebug plates, just to see if they're nice and flat, or if it's time to replace them.
You can get the Nellie Snellen products here, but they're not readily available, mostly online. I'm in love with the embossing flower punch sets. I own one set, and want more!

Good luck!

Some of the more intricate dies may need the metal shim that the die makers are selling...Also you can try a sheet or two of cardstock as a shim, try turning the die if possible or moving it a bit off center of your cutting plate...

Something else you might try, put a piece of wax paper between your cardstock and the die. Also after you run it thru turn it and run it thru again! Hope this helps!

Some of the intricate spellbinder dies you have to run it thru once then rotate it 1/4turn and run it thru again. You might want to try that.

Check with the shop that you bought from and see what they say. If not try out the manufacturer. There could be a "special" way of die cutting it.

Thanks to everyone for your help, there are a couple of ideas that I haven't tried so hopefully one of them will help. Otherwise I will learn to live without them - I am aware of my tendancy to procrastination and will probably never get round to contacting the manufacturer. (I bought them from a craft show and don't have any contact details for the vendor.)
