Build a Bear?
So my dd would like to have a Build a Bear themed birthday party. Any suggestions on a stamp set or crafty ideas?

Haven't decided yet but thinking of it. I was also tossing around the idea of doing it a Joann's. They have a build a bear themed craft party you can do there. It should be interesting we are brand new moving into a new area as of September and her bday is in October. So it will be either some girls she makes fast friends with or her and her sister taking a trip to BaB

Hi, Abby,
The first time we did build a bear was for my birthday last year. I surprised my 3 girls (at the time 8,10 and 15) with a day at the zoo, Red Robin burgers and build a bear for my birthday. We had a ball. We didn't do their party, but rather just showed up and did our thing.
Last August we took our youngest DD and 3 friends to bab for her party. Again not their plan just showed up. I bought gift cards for each of the kids for $15 each. When I made the invites I included the info that they would have $15 to spend and that any over that was their responsibility. A couple of the moms came and that helped for those spending over. Check them out on line. We went to the Tacoma Mall one and it is very nice.
It is an adventure no child will forget. Take lots of pictures.

Thanks for the info! That is exactly the area we will be moving to. I like your ideas very helpful! My girls have been to the BaB a couple times. Once so long ago I am not sure they will remember. The other not too long ago when they had a grand opening for one here in Anchorage Alaska. I have a friend who works there so she gave all of us who knew her a friends and family pass for 20%off discount that night. It was a lot of fun b/c so many of our friends were there at the same time!

Not BaB topic, but the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium is fabulous, and another of our favorite places to go and Northwest Trek also.

Build A Bear is awesome! We go several times a year, all our Friends new babies and neices & nephews have the $10.00 teddy bear and on there birthdays & Christmas they get new clothes for there teddy bear. Our daughter Lizzy has several animals from BaB she gets to go on her Birthday and Christmas and pick out stuff for them, everyone gives her gift certificates for BaB so she gets to get quite a few items each time.

Loved the build a bear
My daughter took 5 friends to BaB in Tacoma Mall also. The helper, crazy guy, was AWESOME! I just used the invitations on the website where I made the reservations, each girl could spend $25 and anything over was on them, the helper keeps them pointed in the right dollar area the whole time! GREAT Fun! On the photo's have a good flash, the signs are above your head and in a dark ceiling...Enjoy!

I'm a nanny part time, and one of the families I work for had their daughter's birthday there. I know they did have a limit for each child, then they went home and had a Teddy Bear Picnic complete with tea, bear cupcakes and sandwiches, and it was really cute! Guess it would depend on the age though if they would be into that.

My daughter just had a teddybear party, but we didn't do Build-a-Bear. I picked up the teddy bear kits at ACMoore and the girls stuffed their bears and then dressed them with the clothes in the kit. All the girls (ages 4- seemed to really enjoy it. My daughter made the goody bags and cupcake toppers with me--we cut circles out of cardstock for the bears muzzle (large yellow, then black, then small white) and ears (tan) plus googly eyes and glued them to a brown paper lunch bag with the top folded over for the goody bags, and used a smaller tan circle on a popsicle stick for the base for the cupcake toppers. My daugher (5) had a great time making them for her party. She made all her own invites using a retired teddy bear set--each invite was unique!
Good luck and have fun!

Do you have a scrapbook store near you? The one near me sells Build A Bear paper (12x12), embellishments, etc.

Oh I love the idea of a teddy bear picnic how cute! So since I have never been to Tacoma in Washington how is the weather then? Here in Anchorage we had snow on the ground last year! I also like the idea of maybe just doing it at home with the kits from Joanns. That could save some $$! Thanks ladies! My dd is turning 8 do you think that is too old to have the teddy bear picnic?

Okay I made some calls and I think I am going to do her party at the JoAnns store. They have their own build a bear kits. So they will help each child make their own bear and then I asked if we could push back the tables and have a teddy bear picnic. They said SURE that sounds really cute. So I am going to do that! Thanks for all the advice!

The Joann's near me had the Build-A-Bear Scrapbook kit (paper, embellishes, etc.) on clearance for $4.97.
You could use the paper / stickers for invitations.
