Okay, I am finally close to having all 48 classic ink pads. I have a basic brown pad, but I don't have a chocolate chip pad yet . Do you think I need to buy the chocolate chip ink pad? Aren't the browns the same or very similar? What do you think?
In my opinion, you need both. Basic brown is a little lighter than chocolate chip. That's not the main reason though. Basic brown doesn't stamp well on other cs (other than white). For some reason it is really light on other cs. I sometimes stamp my greeting in brown, and chocolate chip shows up so much better than basic brown.
Works great with the monkey business set too! I think you need to break down and purchase it. You can never have too many ink pads! Now you need to get all the craft pads. I am working on getting all the ribbon. I personally don't have all the ink pads yet.

I am purchasing the craft spots for now. I just can't afford two full sets of ink pads. I'll at least have all the colors and can figure out which ones I use more of and buy a full size craft pad later.
I am slowly adding to my ribbon supply too. Boy, Oh, Boy it is a never ending addiction
One point -- SU says its black and basic brown are waterproof on white and vanilla cardstock. Perhaps I need to let it dry longer before using but my experience is that they are not waterproof. If you want waterproof brown, Memories Chestnut is an excellent alternative.

They are not....I know it says it is, but Shelli should come to my house and watch me, b/c I can get it to smear with a blender pen faster than you can say "oh bugger"
Dang! I bought Basic Brown just so I could use it for watercolored images (as an alternative to black). At the Portland seminar they demonstrated using Stazon for watercoloring. I do have Timber Brown Stazon--sounds like a good idea. I LOVE Chocolate Chip classic ink--it's a very rich brown.
Chocolate Chip was the first brown that I purchased. To be honest, I didn't even notice the Basic Brown the first time that I scoured the catty!! I now have both and like them for their different reasons...I suggest you get both, if nothing else, just to make your collection more complete. If you don't need it now, save it for when you need to round your order or worshop up and need only a few bucks to do it!!

This is exactly the same way I feel. I haven't found wither to be very waterproof when I've used them.

I don't have CC, but I do have Basic Brown. I use it and Basic Black for watercoloring all the time. I don't have any problems with them bleeding, but I do let them dry for 5-10 minutes before I try to watercolor. Someone once suggested stamping, then spraying it with a matte sealer before watercoloring. I tried it, and it worked. Gave it a different look than without sealing. But since I don't have any problems when not sealing, I skip the extra step. HTH.
