Default Boy Mary Jane shoes???

Do you think it would be OK to make the cute "Mary Jane" Baby Favor shoes for a shower that is for a boy? I have had this in my mind to do for a while now. But just last night (while I could not sleep) I realized that boys don't wear "Mary Jane" shoes. I don't know. What do you think? And if you have any other cute ideas it would be greatly appreciated. This is my first shower to throw and my only sister. I want to WOW her, she deserves it. Thanks for your time.

If you used a "vintage" theme I think you could pull it off. Little boys did wear "Mary Jane" style shoes when they were small, many years ago - say 75- 100 years ago. Infant boys often wore dresses then, too, christening gowns, for example. Think "Little Rascals"! You could decorate with vintage tin and wooden toys, and use a crochet table cloth. With the hand-made favors it would be lovely and memorable.

I haven't ever made the shoes so I don't even know if what I'm about to suggest is possible but what popped in to my head was cut off the Mary Jane strapp and cut a piece of cs to be the "tongue" of the shoe. Just a thought

Default Greta idea

I can not wait to see what you come up with.
My boys had lil shoes that were satin white for when they were welcomed into the church. I still have yet to try this maybe this evening when I finish up all my swaps! I would think it would be cute laced up instead of the buckle

The "vintage" theme would be Perfect for me but is the opposite of her taste. She wants Suzy Zoo.
I was trying to think of a way to alter the shoe too. The only thing that came to mind is lasses. But I like the tounge idea. OK, I have some altering to do we will see what I can do.
I would like to stamp on everything I can. Has anyone else done this yet with party stuff? I have 2 Suzy Zoo stamps, not SU but still cute. That would help with decorating. Thank you so much it is so great to have support.

Default OK, here it is...

what do you think??

I only had white ribbon. I think baby blue would be perfect. I cut the small half of the sole and used it for the tounge. I had to cut a upside down V to make it curl with the shoe.

Thanks for your help.

Completely adorable. I think it works for a boy and I have a girl, so I would tell you if it wouldn't work or was too girly. I think it's incredibly creative. Good luck!!

I would just make it blue like you did & call it a bootie! Precious & darling! (= proper southern compliment)

Awesome job! Maybe twine instead of satin ribbon would be even more boyish? I love it just like it is - really

Adorable! They are so sweet, and perfectly suitable for a baby boy IMHO.
And yes, boys wear those type shoes...remember Princess Di with her boys when they were young?

And, grrrr....just when I convince myself that I AM 25, my mind sabotages me...You know what the little boy shoes reminded me of?...and here I am showing my age:
"I'm Buster Brown...I live in a shoe...Here's my dog Tige'...he lives in there, too..." Those of you who are my age will get it....

And, now, I'm 25 again....yep, that's the ticket...I'm 25!

Finally got back to see everyone's ideas. I love the little tie shoe - it's adorable. Your sister is a fortunate lady.

I'm right there with you on Buster Brown, Melissa. I actually deleted him from my original reply since I'm too far from 25 to even play that way!

Default 23? or 32?

I have been 23 for so long that this year it just looks like I am dyslexic. I am hopeing they use the number candels on my cake this year so I can change them around. Everyone I know always laughs when I say that I am 23 and the stranger just gets confused. My face looks younger but I have the body of a 31 year old Mama.
