I didn't read all the posts in the thread, but from what I understand the original poster is commenting on all the advertisements on personal blogs? I guess it's all what you want your blog to be. The only "advertisement" on my blog is the link to the SU catty, but it's only there because I am in fact a SU Demo. I do have other links to various websites I like to purchase from, but I do not push them, if you know what I mean. What I would do is just avoid those blogs that are too "commercial".

Fran,

It depends. (Don't you love clear answers like that! )

There are sites where you pay (typepad.com for instance) but many sites where you don't (blogger, wordpress, for examples). I say go for it! Visit a few I've mentioned or even try googling on free blogs. Or think of some of your favorite blogs and see what service they use.

Best of luck to you! Let us know if you create a blog!

I agree with the original poster that some blogs are over the top. Personally, I prefer blogs where there are various companies represented (like Amy R's, Cambria Turnbow's and Janine T's sites), although I also check out vendor specific ones like Gina's. Gina's remarks were right on the money - it's a matter of how the blogger advertises.

I use my blog to promote my business. I'm a rep for a small company (The Angel Company) that most people have not heard of. I have to do what I can to help promote myself, plus it gives customers (or potential customers) a place to see some things that I've made with what I'm selling. But, I don't exclusively use/show only TAC products. And I also include family stuff. I thought about having separate blogs, but to be honest, I am lucky to keep *one* updated. I have to hope that customers don't mind hearing about my family and that my non-stamping friends don't mind seeing my stamping and scrapbooking projects.

As a blogger, you can't please everyone. As a reader, you have to decide which blogs are worthwhile to you and which ones have too much advertising that you can't get past it.

I surf peoples blogs wayyyyyyyyyy too much, but I really enjoy it when they post links to where they got the stuff - if I am interested in the products it really saves me time trying to google for it.
I especially love reading the blogs of girls who are on design teams - I am very envious of them - and would one day hope to be a good enough stamper that someone might want me to be one for them! Ahhhhhhhhh to dream! roflol
