I'm wanting to purchase a matching pine cone stamp and die set for next year's cards. I'm looking for recommendations. Also what do you think is the best 3d pine cone die? Thanks
I like The Stamps of Life pinecone2stamp: pinecones2stamp Clear Stamps Set
I am not sure this is 3D, but with the dies you can do a lot with it.

Have you used this die. I looked on the blog page. Have the pieces been rolled to give dimension or have the pieces been popped up? It appears most samples have also inked the edges of the pine cone pieces.
I don't have the pine cone die cut.. it was sold out when I placed my order. There is a base piece and 4 smaller die cut pieces. One of the 4 is glued to the top of the base and the other 3 fit into the base die cut slots (and then Betsy taped them down on the back of the base) and that's it. Betsy did a video that shows how this is done...
On some, Betsy used colored pencils to add details and shading (like on the white pine cones) and added some white chunky glitter (WOW chunky glitter that has been discontinued). One poster thought the American Crafts Chunky Glitter from Heidi Swapp (Marquee) may be much like the discontinued Wow glitter than Betsy used. You could check around and see what is available if you wanted to add the glitter. I have a jar of Martha Stewart white tinsel glitter I plan on using.
(There is a video on the coloring, but I couldn't get it to copy here. You can find it on her blog or Youtube.)
Betsy did use distress inks to color the pine needles and branch.

Gee that is a really nice set. I love that it layers both under and over the branch. Cool.
I have a Q....aside from DS tape...what liquid glue do we use when trying to adhere scotch tape to a card face?
I don't have a dimensional pine cone for you but I did just get the new Simon says pinecone background stamp. I have not played with it yet...I am thinking about heat embossing.

I have two different die sets with pine cones by Elizabeth Crafts. One is a simple layering set, the other helps you make 3-D pinecone a but you have to place and shape each ‘petal’ individually and place them on a base. Takes a while but looks very good. Tim Holtz also has a rolled pinecone die that is easy to make but it makes a 3-D come. Not sure if you want that.

I have this die. You do not roll the pieces. They fit into slots in the previous piece and build the 3D cone. It is really pretty cool. Betsy has a video on her site that shows how to make the pinecone.
I use my regular wet glue, Aleene's Tacky. But I like some of it be in contact with a bit of card somewhere on the piece I'm adhering, not just purely tape. The size those cones look to be, I'd say if you're sticking the tabs at the back with Scotch, that's going to cover a lot of the back side. They look lovely, nice dimension.

Thank you all. i appreciate it that you all took time to answer my questions. This is such a busy time of the year and you so graciously gave me relevant information.I decided to go with the Greetery pine bough die set. It arrived this week but I haven't had a chance to play with it. Thanks marymint for providing the tutorial link for this die set. That really helped me to finalize my decision. Merry Christmas to you all. Stampers and paper artists are the best!
