I have them all but Aida... I use linen the most. It, to me, is the most versatile.

My first background stamp was 'canvas', and it is by far my favourite, I also have the floral background stamp which surprised me as to how lovely it looks. My next purchase is sanded I think....

Is there an index for the background stamps in the gallery? Would it be under backgrounds or are they listed under their individual names? Thanks.

Looks like Linen is the front runner by far. I remember how popular Canvas was when it first came out. Seemed like everyone had it! I ended up with Linen and love it.

I have all 4 that you listed, but I'd have to say Linen is my favorite. I usually use it with Creamy Caramel for an old linen look. Weathered is fun for outdoorsy cards and I use it alot of men's cards. I think of the 4 you listed Canvas is my least favorite. Mine always seems to come out blotchy...but it's good for cards using seaside or rustic images.

Default Background stamps

I haven't used any of the 4 listed BG stamps but yesterday at the Adelaide Craft Fair I was at an SU workshop and used the cheesecloth one and it was great. I used it with the fish from the fishy friends set and it looked just like a fishing net, love that one.

Too bad Cheesecloth is not in the current catalog.

I would vote canvas. Everybody loves linen, but I hate linen...can't get a good image with it to save my life. I love flannel plaid too. I have antique crackle, which is like weathered only it goes the other way on the card (vertical not horizontal) and I love it too. You didn't list all the other BG's I have!!

Linen and Canvas are the front runners, and while I don't have Linen (I still want it), I couldn't live without my Canvas stamp! Honestly, though, if you have one you probably don't need the other.

I voted for Weathered, probably because it is so unique and the background stamp that I really want LOL!

But I do have sanded and love it. I have Canvas and Linen and really don't use them that often anymore.

Check out Cornish Heritage Farms they have the cheesecloth background like SU.

They have seveal other backgrounds mounted and unmounted, at some great prices.

i voted for Linen - very classic looking and soft- texture for the background. However, if you want to know my favorite, it's Baroque!

Now Kathy, did you really need to point me in the direction of MORE fabulous stamps?! You are a wonderful enabler. Keep up the good work!

Just to note that some of their backgrounds are smaller than the typical SU background, and can limit the size of the layer you are using.
I just wanted to mention that there were a few very old images from the SonLight line that were slightly smaller than a standard background, but since that kinda defeats the purpose, they were all retired a few months ago. All backgrounds that CHF carries are 4.5 x 5.75 inches to give lots of room to cover a full card front.

I love background stamps so much, they are easily my most used "tool".

Talking

Although I have linen, canvas, and weathered; I voted for weathered because it is the one I use the most. It is great for "guy" cards and I really like the look of it!
