Background stamps - Floral vs. Canvas
OK - I went to a Stamp Camp last night and I saw a bunch of samples done with the Floral Background. Gorgeous!!!! I would never have picked this background stamp out of the catalog. WOW! I also saw some nice ones done with the canvas background.
If I can only get one - which one do I get?? Floral or canvas???? So totally different?!?
Appreciate any help/suggestions you can give me.

Canvas is a great complimentary background to almost any other stamp set used.
Floral, however, can actually stand alone due to the detailed artwork on it. If used strictly as a background, it tends to compliment other similar style images best.
So, which do you need more? A versatile complimentary background (Canvas), OR, a less versatile background, but one that can stand alone as the focal (Floral)?

I'd vote for canvas since it's way more versatile. If you're looking to get your first background, I'd go with something I can use with lots and lots of other sets. Floral is gorgeous. Never thought I'd need it from the picture in the catty, but the sample here totally made me NEED it. But, it's use is more limited than canvas.

I would just suck it up and get both!
I do like to use them together even, however if you can get only one, I'd get canvas.

Well, if you HAVE to pick one, I would pick the Canvas, and then go back later and get the Floral!

I agree . I got the canvas first and I use it more. I got the floral recently and I really love it but I am glad I got canvas first.

canvas, or the new linen one! I have not seen floral in person, but I am sure once I do I will want it!

I used the canvas stamp at my upline's house and HAD TO HAVE IT! Of all the BG stamps, it's my favorite! I also like weathered, the new linen stamp and the new argyle one in the spring mini. But I think you'd get the most mileage out of canvas. Also nice is the small stamps like fresh fillers. You just have to repeat the pattern randomly, but now you have 4 to choose from. Or, be like me and order whatever you want!!! Speaking of ordering....I had an extremely stressful week last week...I deserve something new, LOL!!!

I'm in the minority. I have both, but this time of year screams for floral.
I'd pick linen (in spring mini) over canvas any day.

I bought the canvas first because it seemed practical and figured I would get a lot of use out of it. Lately I've been getting into backgrounds a little more...plain paper seems sooooo boring. Mostly because lots of SCS folks rave and use them. Seeing some of the samples changed my thoughts on many of them. My "next" background will either be floral or linen. Not sure yet though...
