Just wondering. My DH is interviewing next week at Ripon College. We're originally from Medford, WI, so we're very excited at the possibility of moving back. We're also starting to look at houses and would love recommendations on where the nice places are in/around Ripon. Thanks for anything you have to share!

Hi, Amy - I'm not from Ripon, I'm from Neenah, which is about 30 miles North of Ripon. Your larger cities are Fond du Lac and Oshkosh. I drive by Ripon quite frequently on my way to teach a craft group stamping and scrapbooking at the Campbellsport Library.
Please feel free to e-mail me if you'd like more specific information and tell your husband good luck!
I'm from a more SUPERIOR city in Wisconsin but a ways from where you may be going. And don't believe what you hear about Wisconsin's winters. Its usually around 60 ALL WINTER LONG!!!!! Ha Mary
Cheryl, Where are you?? And yes, I've been to Gad - they have great cheese!
Anyway, it's official - we're moving to Ripon (or there abouts). We're leaving Texas on Aug. 26 and should roll in to Ripon on the 28th or 29th.
It's crazy, we don't have a place to live, and we might not until we get there. Oh well, I guess that happens sometimes. Now we're in a whirlwind to get packed and try and sell our house.
Hey. I went to school in Oshkosh (north of Ripon) and I think it is a nice area. My husband gradutated from Medord and we lived in Stetsonville (in the country). I worked at the hospital in Medford. What a small world.
I am sure it is nice to be closer to family. Goodluck with everything.
Hi Amy! I live in Wausau now, but my parents still live south of Medford (near Jerkwater - my mom's uncle used to own Gad cheese and omigod I will never forget when we used to be able to snitch fresh cheese curds right out of the vats. I still have two uncles that work there (although one I think is retiring soon.)
Cheryl - I did the same thing with the cheese curds when I was just a little girl! I'm bursting with excitement for our move back. It's so good to know there are many fellow stampers within close proximity!
Mandy, who is your uncle? My dad used to be the manager of the Coop Hardware store which is connected to the only grocery store left there. I'm sure they know each other.
And Jana, one of my friends from high school is a teacher in Tomahawk, Andy Peissig. Do you know him or his wife??

This will probably show just how old I am, but I remember when the Coop was down by the river - they had the coolest uneven wood floors and there was a grocery store, hardware store, fabric store, feed store. I used to love how it smelled there. And they had the CUTEST young men to carry out groceries. I'd go shopping with my mom on Friday night (yes, I had no social life) and then she'd go back to the fabric part and let me take the groceries to the car. I'll never forget the night it was like -30 degrees outside, I led this adorable blond to the middle of the parking lot and COULD NOT REMEMBER where we parked the car.
I was even more embarrased when I realized it was parked right next to the front door.
