Talking Anyone else NOT started Christmas cards???

I can't believe it is Dec 13 and I have not made 1 card - well, I made 5 Christmas cards at a swap in November that do not count. AND the real question - when will I find the time other than 3 AM???

Happy Holidays to everyone!

I haven't and as of yesterday I decided to not send any this year. I needed to get rid of some of the pressure I was putting on myself to get it all done in time. I feel much better now.

I always put that 'last' on my 'To Do' list. Most of the time, I do them the week post-Christmas and ship them out. I'm not sure people really care.

I actually had started the Christmas Card Challenge here on SCS a couple years ago. I make at least 10 Christmas cards each month, no pressure. So that way at the end of the year I had a whole box full of cards ready to go! Maybe you could try that starting in Jan, and you'll have a whole bunch of holiday cards ready for the next holiday season!

I've only made half of what I need to and I have no desire to finish them or to send out the ones I've already made! I am too lazy to address envelopes! Weird thing is I've received more Christmas cards this year than I normally have in years past when I've sent Christmas cards!

YIKES! I am in a big panic about my cards. I have the designs in my head, thinking 10 designs, 10 of each. But I can't get to them! I really need someone with a time machine to stop time for about one week.

Well, I don't send any out, but I had made a few (for friends and family that I see at Christmas)... then my boss decided on Monday of last week that he wanted cards for all of our clients - so now I need to make 30 cards by Monday! The bad thing? I had four finals last week and another one on Tuesday!

I was going to make cards for the first time this year. Spent a few days (ok weeks) designing it in my head, getting supplies, etc. Sat down this week to assemble and just had no desire. Ordered my photo cards through Photoworks/Shutterfly like I have the last 5 years. I'm very happy and relaxed now...and can spend time stressing or enjoying all the other things of the holiday season.

I've passed on it the last few years - never seem to get them done early enough. But I am going to make a push for it this weekend and early in the week, and I'd love to do them this year.

I have 6 different ones made, but I'm going to mass-produce some and then use my "leisure time" to make some individual ones LOL!! I am going to keep the list relatively small - there's always next year!

I completely agree though ~ if it becomes too stressful, just let it go. Getting worked up over it is so not the point, right?!

And if you're still interested in making Christmas cards but running out of time, I did this: Run a search in the gallery for Christmas CAS (clean and simple). It helped me!!

Mine are sitting over on my work table all ready to be signed, sealed and delivered. But I just don't have the desire to do it. I have made up a few cards for my family in addition to the mass-produced ones that I'll give to them on Christmas Day with their gifts. Mostly because they would be difficult to mail....big envelopes, lots of stuff to get stuck in sorting machines, or flowers that would get squished in an envelope. But I'm not going to worry or stress about it. My family is what's most important right now.

Believe it or not, I messed up again! SO, its store boughten cards for all!. But ---I have got a plan! I am making up a kit with all the insides of the cards stamped, any nestibility cuts, and cuttle bug runs so that it will all lay ready to take up north this summer, or even maybe to Florida this winter. I will only have to glue and assemble for the most part!.. This is the only way that I will have them ready for next year!

This is my plan, now we will see if it works!

Hey - I started this thread earlier this morning and have laughed at the responses. Regarding the V'Day cards - I still have mine from last year that did not get mailed. THAT MEANS - I am ahead of the game for V'Day this year - YES! Still have not made one card since this morning. I am content to sit her in the warmth with a cup of flavored coffee with lots of flavored cream, a fire in the fireplace, a soft blankie, and of course - my SCS friends! You can see where my priorities are this morning!
Love ya' all

I got started way back in October and yet I was till last night trying to get them done. I started to panic about Tuesday when I realized that Christmas was 2 weeks away. I sat and colored identical images for hours at a time. Needless to say, I finally got them done.

One of my co-workers didn't finish their Christmas cards one year and so decided to send out Ground Hog Day Cards...and they do this every year now instead of Christmas cards.

The card is designed, the cardstock and ribbon are bought, the picture has been taken, and here I sit, working on someone elses Christmas cards! Not to mention that I'm making 300 for her and I need to make 175 for me! How many mailing day are left anyway?

I made 100 with the cuttlebug tree, and had the bright idea to put on flat-backed beads. My hands are tired, the acrylic stars I put on top of each were too thick for regular mail, had to add .20 postage, and cut cardstock to protect the cards. I just made 20 more, and have to put on the beads. Next year, I promise myself my cards will be quick and easy. Remind me, please.

Yeah, I wish.
Trust me, it's complicated! The upside of making cards for him is that I get a little $$ to spend on MORE stuff!

So now I'm stuck here desperately trying to figure out what to make that's EASY! and WOW!

I have had all the pieces cut, about 1/2 the stamping done since before Thanksgiving. Think I've touched them since then??? NOPE! But mine are "peace" holiday cards, so I figure they could go out between Christmas and New Years if n eed be. It's the thought that counts, right?

Smile No handmade cards this year!

Didn't have time this year! We got buried alive in our son's Eagle Scout ceremony which my type A DH decided to organize!

Also am trying to help my sister get cards out for my mom who is in a nursing home.

When I sent my mom her gift this year, I nearly choked when I bought her a card! I haven't bought a card in ages and now I know why!!

I sent everyone store bought cards from WalMart. There is always next year!!

Nope, haven't really started. I've been doing a lot of handmade gifts this year. I figure I'll make some this week for close family and friends and the rest will get storebought. I refuse to stress about it. (can someone remind me of that next Friday?)

I finished the cards that I make for my mother yesterday, and I started mine today.

Funny how my cards always wind up less complex than all the other holiday cards I sell to other people!

I made a bunch during the year and my hubby ended up selling most of them to some co workers.

Now I'm thinking I'm just going to have to send out store bought cards to my friends and family *gasp*

Theresa, those are beautiful!!!! I think about doing beautiful handstamped Christmas cards...and I am actually on year 3 of working toward getting a stack of cards done which I started the year Festive Friends was first released. Of course, it retired last year but dressed up in that beautiful Cranberry Crisp and True Thyme cardstock they will still look good once I finally get them finished.

In the meantime, I am thinking that I will just go ahead and order photo greeting cards again this year! After all, I have a good photo of the whole family taken at my son's graduation last May and it would be a shame not to use it. What really gets me stressed out is thinking about getting the Christmas letter done. Year before last, I wrote one, got it typed and printed out, wheeled a design at the bottom and then never managed to get it mailed out. So, last year I sent a "two-fer" ...two years worth of Christmas letters in one envy! I'd hate for that to happen again so I guess that I should get started on the letter pretty soon. Sam's Club can do the photo cards overnight so that's no problem. Jan

OMG! I thought it was just me! I am sooooo glad I read this thread-now I do not feel so guilty. I start out having every intention of making Christmas cards and making them EARLY!! THEN, I spend a ton of time daydreaming about what to make, checking web sites and buying what I "need" to make them, checking out the gallery for new ideas, not to mention the blogs and -what happens? LOL! I wake up, it's Dec.13 and I just KNOW that I won't get any made! Then (after breaking out in a cold sweat, lol!) I remind myself, (mainly just to not feel so guilty about having bought the stuff). that not many would really appreciate the effort and time that goes into the handmade cards. Then, if I'm lucky, I send out the store bought ones!

Maybe I will try that idea about starting in January and making a certain amount each month. Hmmmm.....let's see! Right now my total is 0 cards, and I certainly do not want to "over exert " myself , so how about 2 ? Yes, that's it! 2 cards a month! After all, I don't want to make my stamper friends jealous (lol!) and be labeled as an "OVER ACHIEVER!"
