I've had great experiences in B/S/T - I do as others have said and look at their post count... I prefer to use paypal.... and I don't send merchandise until their payment is received....
I've also had good experiences at Ebay, too.

a couple of us members were reporting one member for non compliance of
producing the goods for a sale or trade, and the mods never helped us or
acknowledged our information given to them, that was disappointing.
Finally reported it to the company she demo'd with after three months then a
kind relative bailed her out, with a refund; and she was a regular SCS member, so how do we know, now I pay for a delivery confirmation, if the item doesn't show up, she has to come up with a confirmation number, but if they were intending to scam, it won't make any difference

I second that. I was really surprised when I looked in the B/S/T forum at how many sellers had just less than 10 posts. I did not consider for a minute buying from them because I figured they had no real connection to the SCS community. I tend to look for names of people I see posting frequently on the site. I have never had a problem yet as a buyer or a seller with someone not following through. I hope your situation works out.

I've had good and bad experiences on the b/s/t. Burned once, sent my money, check was cashed, never received my coasters - but I certainly wasn't alone. Tons of people fell for that one!
That's the only purchase I've been burned on - the other 3 or 4 purchases went just fine.
Selling is another story. My pet peeve is the people who pm you that they want to buy your stamps - then never send a check! That's happened to me three or four times. I finally gave up. If I try to sell stamps again, I think I'll try craigslist.com

I've had good experiences. Mainly, I have sold sets or whatever, I'll get the check, same day the item goes to the PO....then I wait til the other person gets the pkg then I find my way to the PO...so far no problem with it. I don't cash a check/mo until they recieve it and they have notified me.

It's unfortunate because there are lots of people who just want to pick up a nice stamp set and have every intention of paying immediately but are restricted as to how they can pay because of the seller's previous experiences with unsavory buyers . .

On the other hand . . .
A friend of mine and I both had an interesting experience with a DEMO from a rather well known stamp company who never delivered . . (by the way, nothing to do with SCS) . . I actually received my items I ordered after 4 months, but my friend only received some of her stuff, no explanation. We reported this to the company and both received an email that they would take care of it, but they never did. My friend never did get all the stuff she had paid for. Leaves you wondering .. if a demo can't make good on her promise, and the company never followed up with either of us . . makes you a bit leery of ordering from anyone!!
