Hi Girls,
I recieved a card from Sarah K. Thank you so much it's beautiful. I love the Pumpkins. the leaves the apple & sunflower A very nice Fall card.

And I agree with everybody on the cut off point. It's getting way to big I can hardley keep up, it's so over whelming. I'm easy going so what ever you decide I'm for it.

Marcine, I hope everything turns out with your Hubby. I think about you alot.

& Bonnie I feel so bad. You know it's funny but when one person on this list is hurting or having a bad day or gets treated badly I think we all hurt. Because wev'e all become close.

Wow, Thank you all for all your feed backs, feel the same way as you all do. Let me try and figure out how to go about getting in touch with everyone on the list to see if they want off. Some may be sending to certain ones, which is just fine, I said no rules and I can understand not being able to send to everybody, it is getting pretty costly. For me I'm in forever, can't image not hearing from all you wonderful, thoughtful and so funny ladies!!!!! and getting your great works of art. Just give me soom time to work on it.

Hello, friends!

I am in agreement with the general sentiment of closing the group to new members and having them join a new group.

I also think it's a great idea for people to let Lana (or Dolores?) know whether they wish to continue to be in this group or not.

But several people have said they are way behind on answering mail and I would hate for them to be cut from the list against their wishes...I am in favor of cutting people from the list only if they say so.

I too have sent at least twice as many cards as I have received, but I prefer to think that either the list has gotten too big for some or life has intervened and delayed responses...not that ladies are just collecting our cards with no intention of answering. SCS ladies are much nicer than that!

JMHO.

Hi Carol
Thanks for mailing me list....I am hating on my vista!!!!

Do you know I had heard the story about a little girl that put pillow stuffing up her nose and it got stuck in there and smelt and no-one would play with her...... in the USA.... from our health nurse at primary (grade) school when I was about 5 as a lesson on not to put things up your nose. How funny, I wonder if it was your little girl that she was telling us about. Scary...all the way over here. You can tell your daughter that she was a semi celebrity at Te Pohue Primary lol.

I seem to receive cards from the same ladies every month & try to send out at least one to each of them. Approx. the middle of September, I made it a goal to send out cards to every one who was on the list at that time. I heard back from approx. 5 who I was not currently corresponding with already. It was really disappointing, and it has made me slower to respond to the newer gals who have been added since. I realize that life gets in the way sometimes of mailing cards, and hopefully I will hear from some of these other ladies later, but I agree there has to be a cutoff point.

I have gotten some cards in the last few days & have not been able to post. They are on my desk at home & I will post my thanks later for those cards. I will also have more cards going out by the end of this week after I stock up on stamps & envelopes. (Sorry birthday ladies, as some may be late because I'm running a little behind right now!)

I love all of the cards I receive through this group, and the wonderful letters that come with them. I feel like you are all my extended family right now & love to share this stamping passion with you.

I too... think it would be best to have a cut off .......I have not sent cards out to everyone on the list but I picked so many and sent and then if others sent to me I have kept up with them............ I will be honest I got my DIL involved and she is even doing the birthday list but I haven't even gotten to that list yet..... I sent 12 yesterday all to USA and one to UK........ must start thinking about birthdays
but I love how it is running for me at the moment I am quite happy..........
Thanks girls I am so so enjoying my new found friends

Poota land? I thought that was my house.
Connie S. you have got your hands full with keeping me in line. DH has tried for 44 years........NOT!
Debbie, I agree we should check with them.........if we can but if we go 3 months & no one has gotten ANYTHING from them, then I think they should be removed. Don't you think that would be enough time to catch up?

I had one that I sent on 8/27 and it took until 10/12 to get a return. I'd already tanner her out on my list but I put her back in yellow. Tan is the color they get if I don't hear back. Yellow means they are sunshine & on my list. LOL It just turned out that way.

Hang in there. We'll figure it out. In the mean time don't let Lesley & Connie be mean to me, ok?

I am new to this site, and to the pen pal group. I can see how it could be overwhelming, especially for those who have been doing it for a while! I have been taking it easy, I send a card back to anyone who sends one to me, and I have been trying to send one every week or so to someone random, I don't keep track of those I send them too, because I don't send a lot, and if I hear back great! If I don't hear back, I really don't notice, since I don't keep track, it is kind of a way to surprise myself. Surprise in the mailbox! You got a card back! Yay!

I know for me, I started with sending my first "intro" cards to everyone on the list (that was split out over 5 weeks!!! And the list was much shorter then!). I thought I would just continue to correspond to whomever wrote back and it would be a natural progression that way.

I also send the birthday cards each month (this month the early ones will be late because they are sitting on my desk waiting for letters! But they are made!).

From there, I send to the newbies once I get the updated spreadsheet, or I would confuse myself as to who got a card and who did not! Yes, I am easily confused!!!

Once the b-days and newbies are done, then I send reply cards. These can take me a month to 6 weeks to send out. I just don't have a stash of cards and sometimes my kids get in my way of stamping! I tried feeding they scraps of my cardstock, but they complained!!!!

I think it is probably a good idea to check in and see if peeps are still interested in the list, but I would not cut anyone unless they ask to be cut. And maybe a good rule of thumb would be to just reply to who you hear from and not worry about the "entire" list unless that is something you really want to do. Some people like to post and chat on SCS (not me!! ha ha) and others don't feel comfortable and prefer to lurk...which is great! Not everyone is a "put it all out there" kind of girl!

JMHO...

Did she say sitting AT her poota or ON her poota. I still think it's a body part.

HEY, I'm not a nurse but I'm free Friday night.........Tokoyo.......what time? Which zone?

Rachel..........Honey, you WILL want to keep track. I keep an excel spread sheet & I put in the date & what card I sent. When I receive one, there's a column for that too.......a little heart with the date. Isn't that special? I have the ones I send to in yellow (sunshine, you know) and the newbies are in teal. I highlight November birthdays in orange & December in red. I tried not keeping track...........OH MY GOSH, I was lost the first week. That's when I made my excel sheet. It keeps me sane. Although you DO have to remember to mark them down. LOL Oh well, doesn't happen often.

Ladies...Ladies such language!!! haha pooter, poota

I don't want to be kicked off, please don't kick me! I am in agreement with putting a hold on any new pals the list is sooooooo long now. I have been slack in sending mine out but I promise I will do better I am trying to get my craft/card room moved downstairs and move my son upstairs but if any of you have a 17 year old boy you know what my life has been like. He does not care at all about what his room looks like so I am having to motivate him cause I am not doin all of it myself. I think by moving it downstairs I will have better access to it. Another thing is that my DD is expecting again (woohoo) and she is in that first trimester and well you know that she don't want to do ANYTHING right now but sleep and she is my partner in crime I really don't like doin cards alone, is that weird or do others feel like me ? Well thats my life, thanks for letting me vent You girls are the best.

Hi All, I thought the most recent arrivals had been mixed up with other cards, but I think I rescued them. Thanks to the following for their cards: Jenny M., Dolores, Siobhan, Carrie L. and Amy H. I hope I've caught up with letting folks know when their cards have arrived.

Bonnie, Toby Keith has been in Nashville this week.

Carol are you sure "poota" isn't something Daisy leaves for you-- LOL!!

Just done with trick-or-treating oldest son made it most of the night in his costume(storm trooper) had to take hat off it was too hot. Youngest(Thomas the tank) made it 5 houses down and had his costume pretty much off. And the dog(bumble bee)--sat long enough for pictures and then walked to the end of the driveway and off it came. DH stayed at the house to give out candy we had a total of 12 kids come to our house!! DH has a lot of candy to take to work tonight!! Otherwise I will be eating it!! Was everyone's Halloween kind of slow or just in my neighborhood? Strange last year we didn't turn our light off until late. Maybe it is just a dying Holiday!

Happy Stamping

We had a slow trick or treat night too. We live on a side street and I think lots of kids stick to the main streets.

I put up a new picture of Zippy in his Halloween costume. He loves getting his picture taken, so he sat still for me. Once I was done taking pictures he wanted that hat off.

WOW! You should see my kids candy. OMG! The dentist is going to be mighty upset...Our neighborhood is known for the best candy to collect on Halloween. The boys counted each piece and they ended up with about 500 pieces each...unreal.
The bad part is, I am home all day..kids are at school, so I put it up high on the refrigerator in a big country basket..out of sight, out of mind..I hope that works tomorrow and for the next weeks. We had tons of kids plus kids from other neighborhoods. My kids and I went out as Young Marines and I was their leader.

Hello Ladies,

I just wanted to say I am sorry for not being a better pen pal these days. I have had some personal things going on here with my parents and then all the kids activities that have kept me busy. Things have just been really stressful and they have put me in a really big rut.

I have received some beautiful cards in the mail this month and I thank each and everyone of you for brightening my days.

I still want to be a part of this group, I just ask that you be patient with me until I can get out of this rut. I am hoping it will be soon I have a lot of Christmas cards to make.

Thanks ladies you are the greatest,

Hugs,

Julie

How are things down under? We have a sunny crisp day today. Hoping the grass dries by noon so I can mow. Hopefully it will be the last. We mow 3.6 acres. LOL

And ladies, don't forget that Poota has a birthday on the 14th & it will take awhile to get there.

Hi Carol

Yes it does sound like a body part lol Puters for me too. Was a good day here yesterday but we have had quite a bit of rain today, much needed I might add. I would hate to have to mow 3.6acres, takes us all the time to mow our tiny little lawn. Do you have one of these mowers you ride on? Hope you got on OK at the doc's yesterday.

Hi Lesley, there seem to be a lot of RNs on this website. I work in a cardiac catheterization lab, what area do you work in?

Smile Another lovely card.

Thank you Dolores for the lovely card and note which arrived today. Love that stripey paper and the little flower brad is so sweet. I will get a card off to you ASAP.

GOOD MORNING Sunshine! Ok, I've been up over an hour & there's NO shunshine yet. But then you are sunshine, right?
Seeeeeeeee, Catherine thinks so too. Yes, Catherine we have a riding mower that has a 52" wide cut. Still takes 4 hours if we do it ALL & only use one mower. We have two riders. This time of year a lot of the grass has gone dormant for the winter. Just those pesky ones that insist on growing. They stay green most of the winter. Just don't grow as fast.

that's ok Julie...........we'll wait for you. Now you gals know why I finished my Christmas cards in August. Mmmm hmmmm I really DID know what I was doing. LOL
Oh, Bonnie.........stay out of that candy. My daughter puts the kids candy on top of the entertainment center & they can pick 2 pieces a day out of it. That's ALL. Makes sense. I had one daughter (her) that would still have her candy at Easter. The other one thought she had to eat it all before she went to bed. LOL
Kathy.........glad I can make you smile. I hope things are going well. Email me & let me know how that weekend went.

Hugs

Hi Carol and Dolores

What do I do with the pen pal list, do I choose who to send cards to or do I send to everyone on the list? How often should I send cards and does it matter what kind of card, greeting-wise I mean. Do I send the same card to everyone or different ones? Sorry if these are dur! questions It is 10.25pm so I will be off to bed shortly. Nighty night girls.

You can send cards by doing it randomly or just pick 10 or so. I picked my pen pals by where I used to live, there screen name, there sense of humor on here, etc...have fun with it..no one says you have to make all 125..just do whatever you feel comfortable with..but if you send one out to someone, and you dont receive any back..then scratch that person off the list..have fun with it..no stress attached..

Hi Girls!

So fun to catch up on the thread! Good to hear from you Julie! Hang in there and if you need to talk then PM me.

We have a huge Asian bazaar here this weekend, so I will be out of contact and I am sure it will take me 3 hours to catch up on the thread come Monday!

Halloween here was a BLAST! They bus the Japanese kids on base...it is a hoot! They do such a good job saying Trick or Treat in English and also Thank You! We don't live on base, but I helped my friend hand out candy while DH took my kids trick or treating and we gave out 25 bags of candy in 45 minutes!!! Insanity!!! Anyway, it is a fun cultural exchange! Here is a pic of my little "monsters"...

Talk to everyone on Monday!!!

That's great Bonnie, thanks for that. This is what I like about SCS, everyone is so helpful. I am having so much fun picking up some great stamping tips and techniques.
