Question Angel policies question

I was just looking at the Whipper snapper stamps and I noticed that they are not an angel policy company. Does that mean you can't sell a card with their stamp on it? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that's what it means. Frankly, I'm kind of surprised that they aren't.

LOL, sadly, there are a lot of stamp companies out there with restrictive policies. That's why it's always a good idea to check with a company before selling stuff using their images. Of course, some companies, like SU!, have relaxed their policies after years of restrictions, so keeping current on who does what can be tough.

Default Whipper Snapper Angel Policy

I just happened to notice this thread...
I contacted Whipper Snapper because their Angel Policy talks about commercial sales and didn't know if that included handmade cards (you know one or two of an image). Well it includes everything I got a big fat no you can't sell anything with their images. I was so disappointed because I absolutely love their stamps but don't want to get into any trouble because I occasionally sell some cards. Can we all write Whipper Snapper and see if they will change their policy? So sad!!!

If you're looking for cute, whimsical, fun try http://www.highhopesstamps.com/

You can also check the gallery and look for High Hopes, I know they're quite a few cards using High Hopes. You can sell cards with their images as long as they are hand stamped.

Excellent advice about looking at their Angel Policy before buying...
I automatically do that now before I even look at the images to much. Just love the Whipper Snapper - I know I will get some to use for my own cards but it would be nice to be able to sell. I love High Hopes just placed my first order and am anxiously awaiting them. Sorry didn't mean to hijack into this thread but it caught my eye that someone else was disappointed by Whipper Snappers policy.

I think if Whipper Snapper realizes that people are not buying their stamps because of their policies maybe they will reconsider, especially since their are other companies to buy from. I'm sure that is one of the reasons that SU relaxed their policies. I think in the long run it will give SU more exposure and positive advertising.

That's great advice - I know they respond to their emails that you can send in the contact us section of their website as they got right back to me about my angel policy question - I am going to drop them another email explaining that they might be losing sales - maybe if more of us did that they might change their policy??? Worth a shot.

Thanks for the link to high hopes. They do have cute stamps. Also Elizabeth has a good idea. Perhaps if enough people complained to Whipper Snapper they might get the idea we are not happy.

I already sent of my nicely worded email about their lack of an angel policy!

Don't forget, though, that it may not be just whim that dictates their policy, lol. It could be that the artist(s) they buy their artwork from doesn't want to let go of copyrights. If that were the case, Whipper Snapper probably doesn't have a say in it.

Hero Arts doesn't have an Angel Policy either And I love a lot of stuff in their new catalog. I do really restrict what I buy from either WS or HA because of this.

Wow, thanks for the heads-up on Hero Arts. I didn't realize they don't have an Angel Policy - I wonder if it's changed since the last time I checked. I also love a lot of Inkadinkado's stamps, but they have a limit of 100 items sold per stamp. Hence, I never buy their stamps. I've picked up a few Hero Arts stamps on sale, but I won't be buying any more.

Thanks Betsy that's exactly right where Whipper Snapper is concerned. I heard back from them last night. They don't own the artwork and if they lose an artist everything gets returned to them. I certainly understand but it's definitely disappointing as their stuff is adorable.

Hero Arts does have an angel policy, but it's kinda a pain... here's a link

It's hard to find on their website, and if you just look at the "Copyright" section, you might think that they don't want you to use their stamps for anything, ever. LOL!

House mouse also does not have an angel policy - which disappointed me, because I got SO many great ideas when I discovered their stamps!

I did find a good website that has a very very large list of stamp companies that are angel companies, it won't let me post the URL for some reason, but you can find it by going to Google and typing in "rubber stamp angel company", it is the first listing in the search.

I'm sure there are more lists like this, but I'm still sorting through all the companies on this one!!!

I understand this one, 'cause House Mouse carries their own line of coloured, printed cards (with the same images as the stamps), calendars, magnetic shopping lists, mugs, mouse pads, totes, shirts, etc. So they would not want hand-stamped stuff to compete with their merchandise. But the reasoning behind the other stamp companies for not having an angel policy doesn't make sense to me.

Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers (or something like that) is another stamp company that also does not have an angel policy.

I have emailed whipper snapper in the past, too and got the same response. Sad, though. I was all set to buy a bunch of their stamps, but I passed since I would not be free to use them however I wanted. They cost too much to be so restrictive, IMO. (I understand why they are, but I won't be buying any stamps because of the policy.)

I passed on buying the Whipper Snapper stamps also which kills me because they are adorable but like you I want to be able to use them however. I did just order some High Hopes and Darcie's which are both angel companies but I'm still sad....

I always check the policy before buying. I've found many stamps that I wanted, but either they didn't have a policy or it was restrictive. I would hate for a customer to see a card and want it and I'd have to tell them oh sorry, I can only make 25 of that one or nope sorry that's for display only. So I check the companies out first. That way I'll never have to tell a customer no.

What about Penny Black stamps? I use a lot of those on my cards and have never even heard of an Angel Policy.

Penny Black is not an Angel company either:
http://www.sirstampalot.co.uk/copyright.php

(it is in alphabetical order...Penny Black is the 5th one down)

edited to add...they allow a maximum of 36 cards/items (?) per image.

For Penny Black you have to write their copywrite info on the back.
