Default Amuse & free shipping BEWARE

I placed a large order on Oct 13 and have been anxiously awaiting my package. I just checked the status of my order and it shipped the next day. Why am I so upset??? I thought I was getting free shipping but in the notes it said that free shipping does not apply to orders paid with paypal. I am really upset. Nowhere on their website does it say this. Grrrrr!! I won't be ordering from them again.

I don't blame you for being ticked. I would check with PayPal and see if that policy violates their vendor agreement with PayPal.

That's very frustrating. I would call & fight it; they may reduce it in order to not lose a customer.

While I agree that your situation is frustrating, I would contact the company before posting something negative.

I hope it all works out.

I've never heard of this policy before, usually companies encourage paypal use as people feel it's a secure way of paying and thus people may buy from a company through paypal and may not have done without it.

I would certainly double check the information, though clearly you have read it and are clear what has happened. I would then write to both Amuse and paypal pointing out that this is unusual poilicy and that you will not be using the company again as you enjoy the safety and security of using paypal and believe it unfair to be penalised for doing so.

This should remind us all to read every bit of small print there is. It's boring and often not all that easy but it's where places hide all sorts of weird and wonderful oddities and buyer beware of course. I'm sorry this has happened, I do hope you are able to work out a more satisfactory ending to this transaction.

It said no paypal in the email I received from Amuse about the sale.

Sorry you're frustrated! In the e-mail/newsletter I received, it stated PayPal was not eligible - only Visa and MC orders because it would "preapprove" your card for the full amount and they would adjust it before final processing to deduct the shipping. With PayPal, they said they didn't have the ability to adjust the total after the fact and said the offer wasn't available when paying that way in the e-mail/newsletter.

Actually, it isn't all that uncommon anymore for specials to not be valid if using Paypal. Vendors don't have a way to adjust in their Paypal shopping carts, so people wind up getting charged the full amount. Yes, the vendors could probably do refunds, but that would likely be incredibly time-consuming and costly to boot.

Sorry you got messed up! I hate it when I do that...

But the free shipping sale isn't even mentioned on their website, right? Isn't it only mentioned in their blog and mailing list, where it gives directions to obtain the discount and clearly says that the offer isn't valid for Paypal purchases? It's very clear on the info that I received about it, they even put it in bold.

I'm sorry you're upset, but I think they did their best to spell the terms of the sale out clearly.

This is from their e-mail "To qualify for free or discounted shipping, orders must be paid for with Visa or Mastercard only . (sorry but PayPal doesn't allow us to make adjustments.)"

Seems pretty clear to me. Maybe a lesson to all of us, that PayPal does not allow adjustments. Keep it in mind for future sales.

Sorry you are so upset but the newsletter was pretty clear about the paypal policy. It also seems like this is a Paypal problem and not A muse problem.

I've been ordering from them for 3 years and am a happy customer!

I'm sorry you are upset.

This special offer of free shipping was not posted on the A Muse website; it was issued to subscribers of our newsletter and included a notice, which was bolded/highlighted, indicating that PayPal orders would not qualify for the free shipping, due to the PayPal system not allowing for such adjustments.
