I'm actually looking for the tins now....I want to make little "prom nite" gifts for my DD and her girlfriends. I'm thinking of glueing a teeny mirror inside the lid, then adding some mints, safety pins, small lip gloss....any other ideas?
My husband just put out the word at work that I could use the empties, and I got loads of them. Any time I need more, I just say the word and they shower me with them until I cry "uncle".
I love this idea...my mom loves altoids and has started saving all of her tins for me. I can't wait to make one of these for her!!!
Thanks Ronni! My mom loves hers, and I get my tins by buying Altoids. My mom and dad love them, and Mom just has me pour them into baggies for them to keep in their cars, etc., and I keep the tins. I run them through the dishwasher in the top rack before using them. It gets the strong smell out and "dust" from the mints. Works perfectly.

or if you don't have a source for the mint tins and don't like the mints, you can buy new tins without the dust from GinaK and many other places on line. Theya re also flat on the top.
I have bought them when I had a big project I have also been known to empty my mom's (the only person I know that eats the mints) into a baggie and steal her container.

I looked on Gina's site and I didn't see them........did I miss them? I'd order from her in a heartbeat.
I keep my iPod Shuffle and ear buds in an Altoid tin. It's the perfect size! My kids and I keep our DS game cartridges in the altoid tin that's longer and thinner, about 1.25 inches by about 3 inches. Again - the perfect size for up to 8 DS games and they don't slide around in that snug space.
What does everyone put inside the altoid tins??? I bought 10 at Micheals when they were on clearance and have no idea what to put inside of them.
I've also seen online examples of using an altoid tin to create a "pocket shrine". One suggestion was to fill the tin with small items reflecting a specific spiritual belief group of choice and sending the shrines to deployed soldiers.

That's so funny. I just got a shuffle (because my Classic is too big for exercise, and I hate dragging it in and out of the car all the time), and I had just figured out that an Altoid tin is the perfect size to carry it. Now I have to decorate one for myself!

i do like the idea, but be careful that you send it to soldiers you know personally. i remember reading somewhere that the US Military asking Religious materials to only be sent to soldiers who requested said materials... and you had to know the soldier... and there was some limit to how many/ how much you could send... and it could not be interpreted as anti-Islamic... I don't know, i read this about 4 years ago, and so maybe rules have changed... i thought it was a cuckoo bananas rule when i read it, but i don't want any one here or any soldiers to get in trouble.
OK, here are the "prom tins" that I whipped up with the tins from Gina K Designs (what fast service Gina and Jessica!!) These were easy and fun to decorate, the prom is TOMORROW! My DD is wearing a white gown with pink embroidery, can't wait to see her dolled up.
You probably don't need one more idea but I keep all of my store discount cards in an altoid tin. I did have to snip some of them down. NOw they don't take up so much room in my waller.
