Talking Altered Candles

Can you actually burn altered candles (I mean where you use the wax paper method). Has anyone tried to burn them? I am dying to make some of these to give to friends, but I really want to know if they are functional or decorative only. Can someone "enlighten" me? Thanks!

Yes, you can burn them. As long as you use a pillar candle, that is. Those burn down the middle of the candle. Don't use a taper candle, like the kind you put in candlesticks on the dinner table...they burn differently.

Just remember, always remind people to keep an eye on burning candles, and don't leave the room with any lit. But the image won't be marred or burned.

My friend, Danita, tells me that you can even put a tissue image on the TOP of a tea-light candle and still burn it. I thought the tissue paper would catch fire, but she said it seems to just sink down deeper into the melting wax.
