Talking All About Me Scrapbook page/A day in the life of...

Hi Ladies,
I am hoping someone can assist me with the following requests from one of my customers. She is doing a Family Reunion and wants to have each person do an All About Me scrapbook page which tells about their favorite things, memories, etc. I am wondering if any of you have done one of these before and what type of things you included on it. We have only been able to come up with a few ideas...not nearly enough for a whole scrapbook page! Also, any samples or templates would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance!
Julie

The Book of Me: A Guide to Scrapbooking About Yourself and The Book of US: A Guide to Scrapbooking about Relationships both by Angie Pedersen might help you. Wish I was more help--I'm scared of all my relatives and what they might put into a book like that!

I remember seeing an article about this once. This woman's mother died when she was young, so she was trying to document everything for her daughter in case she died. Sounds kind of morbid, but if something did happen it would be priceless to her daughter. She even did a scrapbook page on everything that she kept in her purse! It sounds weird, but it was really quite sweet. I'm going to see if I can find that magazine. Just a minute...

If she is sending out a list of questions -- things for each person to write about themselves -- my suggestion would be to give them a huge long list. Some personal data, some just for fun, but they only need to answer say, 6 of the questions.
Since it is a family reunion, stuff like birthdates and parent's names should be pretty standard.
For fun.... where did you learn how to swim?... who taught you how to fish?... how many towns/cities have you lived in?... what nickname did you actually LIKE?... Favorite midnight snack?...
What I was wondering (just my curiosity)... are all these folks going to make their own page BEFORE coming to the reunion? Or is she going to hold a scrapping class right on the spot and show them all how to do it?

I can't find it. I think it might have been my sister's magazine. She lives 3 hours away. Sorry. I did find an article in a different magazine it gives an idea to document how alike and how different you and your family members are - shared physical characteristics and personality traits, habits (good and bad), special abilities, and peculiar physical abilities (wiggle your ears, touch your tongue to your nose).

Don't know if this will help ya or not.

Hi Julie,

Ancestry.com has a lot of free articles and templates in their "Learning Center" Library, including interview questions and material for/on family reunions. Searching on the word "interview" brings up 10+ pages of aerticles:
http://library.ancestry.com/search.aspx?srch=interview&ti=0&submit.x=92&submit.y=13

Searching on the word "questions" also brings up 10+ pages of articles:
http://library.ancestry.com/search.aspx?srch=questions&ti=0

Results for the word "scrapbook":
http://library.ancestry.com/search.aspx?srch=scrapbook&ti=0

You might also refer her to http://www.family-reunion.com/ Under "activities" there is a list of "icebreakers" that has a lot of fun questions she might include.

Questions one might ask:

What year were you born?
Where do you live now?
How many states/countries have you lived in?
Have you been to a foreign country (and if so, which)?
Can you speak a foreign language?
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
What color are your eyes?
What do you do for a living? (Children can answer "student")
What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
What is your favorite movie?
What is your favorite TV program?
What is your favorite book?
What is your favorite color?
What is your favorite song?
What is your favorite food/dessert?
What is your favorite holiday memory?
Choose one word to describe yourself.
Do you play a musical instrument?
What are your hobbies?
Do you/have you play/ed a sport?
Most embarassing moment?
Most memorable moment?

Just a few ideas....

Thank you!! You guys have such wonderful ideas and tips! Thank you for the links and ideas, I really appreciate it. I am excited to share all of these with her.
My understanding is that she is going to have each family complete their pages at the reunion and then color copy the book for each family and then give the original to her grandma. I think it is a great idea!
Thanks again for all of your ideas!!
